The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 990: Chapter 990: No Comparison, No Harm

As soon as Princess Consort Ji opened her big mouth, Song Ci knew the main course was being served. She couldn’t help but use a handkerchief to cover the corner of her mouth, hiding her smile, and watched leisurely.

Just in time to see what kind of character this Wen Madam and her daughter possess.

Everyone present glanced sympathetically at Madam Guan and Madam Wen; Princess Consort Ji was notoriously vulgar and dared to say anything.

The two girls she was holding blushed with embarrassment, dared not to break free due to their thin skin, and had to pretend to remain calm.

Looking back at Madam Guan and the others, their smiles were slightly stiff, but still maintained their composure.

Dowager Ji gestured, ”Come over and let me have a look.”

Princess Consort Ji directly pulled the two girls forward. Dowager Ji scrutinized them closely and asked, ”How old are you both, what do you usually do at home? Have there been any marriage arrangements?”

Guan Shuyan took the opportunity to break free from Princess Consort Ji’s grasp, placed her hands on her waist, and curtsied to Dowager Ji: ”Replying to Dowager, this minister’s daughter is fourteen this year, usually idling about and causing trouble at home, as for marriage...”

She pretended to be shy and hid behind her mother, Madam Guan, and said no more.

Madam Guan just smiled teasingly, bowed slightly to Dowager Ji, and apologized: ”My young daughter has no manners, I ask Dowager for forgiveness. She’s just a mischievous girl, driving both the Duke and I to worry a lot. It’s better to keep her at home for a couple more years of proper upbringing before discussing marriage, otherwise, she might end up causing trouble for others.”

Song Ci’s eyes twinkled slightly, thinking that this Guan Liu was quite clever, and Madam Guan was even more eloquent, blocking any possible retorts with just a few sentences.

Then looking at Miss Wen, she replied with a flushed face: ”This minister’s daughter is also fourteen this year. Usually, I engage in needlework, helping my mother manage the household finances and teaching my younger siblings.”

Madam Wen quickly added: ”My young daughter is lacking in learning and is still waiting for a marriage proposal, making Dowager laugh at our shortcomings.”

Dowager Ji said: ”For a woman, lacking talent is a virtue. Madam Wen is too modest; I find your daughter very impressive, truly worthy of her Wen Family background.”

Too bad she’s a bit young, otherwise, she would be a good match for Ze’er. However, being a decade apart shouldn’t be an issue. So young, and looking like she could bring prosperity to her husband and children.

Madam Wen maintained a gentle smile, though she was a bit anxious inside.

Princess Consort Ji laughed: ”I find these two children exceptional, I almost want to bring them home and raise them. Dowager, what do you think?”

Everyone present understood the implication and subtly sipped their tea.

It’s not their business, so they remained detached.

Miss Wen almost couldn’t maintain her smile, lowering her head in feigned shyness.

Dowager Ji said: ”Good children, who wouldn’t like them?”

She removed a pair of jade bracelets from her wrist and gave one to each girl as a gift.

Seeing this, the two Miss Ji’s eyes turned green with jealousy, harboring resentment in silence.

Aunt favors others, letting the fertilizer flow to others’ fields.

Song Ci watched, finding it amusing, as the two Miss Ji’s eyes nearly turned into cross-eyes.

”Such precious bracelets, Dowager giving them to these girls is like casting pearls before swine. Shuyan, make sure to lock it in a box when you return, don’t let it get damaged and waste Dowager’s kind intentions.” Madam Guan took the bracelet for her daughter with a handkerchief, wrapping it up, while teasingly saying, ”Aren’t you going to thank Dowager for rewarding you?”

This seemed like a gesture to put it up as a cherished display.

Song Ci’s eyes lit up, such high emotional intelligence.

She then looked at Madam Wen, and without any comparison, there is no harm, seeing a flicker of annoyance flash quickly across the latter’s face, as if resentful for being a step behind.
