The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 989: Chapter 989: If You’re Being Forced, Just Blink

After everyone exchanged greetings and had just sat down, there was more noise outside. Princess Anping furrowed her brows, and some Palace Attendants went out to check. In just a moment, they reported back, and appearing at the door was the Imperial Concubine Ji leading her Ji Family Madam and two Ji Misses, oh, and the Princess Consort Min.

What kind of a divine combination is this?

The fact that the Princess Consort Min would come out to enjoy the lantern lights with the Imperial Concubine Ji, along with members of the Ji Family, astonished many, including Song Ci.

Not to mention the Princess Consort Min, who maintains a rather awkward status and rarely appears in public. Even if she did appear, she would never be seen with the Ji Family members.

But looking at this scene now, indeed, anything is possible.

Could it be that this mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo has made peace?

If the Imperial Concubine Ji knew what Song Ci was thinking, she would definitely scoff. If it weren’t for her son’s instructions, would she bring this unlucky stooge out to socialize?

The Princess Consort Min was filled with helplessness, contemplating whether to feign illness and leave early rather than play along with the charade, or she should return to the mansion to copy scriptures.

She met Song Ci’s gaze, noticing a hint of curiosity and concern, feeling inexplicably that there was a message there.

If you’re being forced, blink your eyes.

Princess Consort Min paused, amused by her own thoughts, and her resentment dissipated. Oh well, observing the dramas of the mortal world also has its own amusement.

She sat down calmly.

Song Ci’s gaze fell on the group with the Imperial Concubine Ji, and she suddenly found it amusing, feeling a surge of excitement as if she’d been pumped full of adrenaline.

It feels like a good show is about to begin.

The Imperial Concubine Ji had just recovered from an illness, having been cooped up in the residence for over ten days before she could come out for some fresh air. Unexpectedly, she had to bring along her official daughter-in-law, and upon arrival, she encountered Song Ci, the nemesis, and needless to say, her mood was not good.

Seeing Song Ci sitting there like a serene old lady, without even standing up to bow, she felt frustrated. Wang Jingxian, that nemesis that cursed her, even her son was opposing her, insisting on granting Song Ci exemption from saluting, making it impossible for her to use her status to assert herself.

The Imperial Concubine Ji snorted, received the salute from Princess Anping, and sat beside Song Ci, glancing at Mrs. Lu, saying, ”Isn’t Madam Song known for having several filial daughters-in-law? Why is there only a concubine daughter-in-law serving by her side?”

Song Ci replied with a smile, ”I must inform the Dowager, they each took their children to enjoy the lantern festival. As a mother-in-law, it wouldn’t be interesting to keep the daughters-in-law by my side all day long, right? It doesn’t benefit the couple’s relationship, nor does it help to add children.”

The Imperial Concubine Ji’s face turned green.

Is this remark aimed at her?

She would want her son to have several legitimate sons, but can this daughter-in-law do it?

The Imperial Concubine Ji looked at the Princess Consort Min with some resentment, heavily snorting, ”Then why is this concubine daughter-in-law kept by your side? I thought Madam Song was fair to everyone.”

”As for her? She’s also filial, won’t leave even when chased away, insists on serving by my side. If a child is filial, I can’t refuse such kindness, can I?” Song Ci chuckled, speaking to Mrs. Lu, ”You’re filial, but don’t just stand there, find yourself a seat too.”

The Imperial Concubine Ji sneered, rolling her eyes, a double-standard dog.

Song Ci turned her gaze, watching Madam Ji holding Guan Liu with one hand and Wen Zishan with the other, speaking sweet words, and couldn’t help but twitch her eyelids.

Good gracious, is the Ji Family trying to snatch candidates for grandsons-in-law?

”Dowager, look at these two delightful individuals, they are truly well-born, and I wonder which family will have the fortune to marry them.” Madam Ji hinted to the Imperial Concubine Ji with a smile.
