The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 985: Chapter 985: If You’re Unhappy, That Makes Me Happy

The consequence of having a loose tongue led to Song Zhiyuan overeating, stuffed forcefully, as if the old lady was ready to chop him up with a long sword if he didn’t finish.

Look at that overflowing bowl, did the old woman stuff him with food on purpose, hoping to make him a stuffed ghost?

That vicious old lady, wanting to be a merry widow, pah!

Not happy, huh? It’s fine if you’re not happy, because I am!

With a face full of smiles, Song Ci instructed the two concubines, ”Aunt Mei, serve properly and make sure he takes a digestive pill after, so he doesn’t overstuff himself.”

Song Zhiyuan was so angry his mouth twisted, he snorted, and left in a huff.

Couldn’t eat anymore, couldn’t drink either, and was full of anger already.

Once he left, the dining table came alive again, and the little ones began performing little acts to entertain the family.

Song Ci laughed, ”The moon is full today. When we go out to see the lantern riddles, don’t get separated and bring more people along. Especially you little ones, don’t wander off alone, there are many kidnappers during festivals.”

On the Mid-Autumn Festival night, the city naturally has a lantern display. Shops big and small put up lanterns for people to guess the riddles, and families set up lavish lamp stands. Even if there’s a curfew, it’s later than usual, and this year the large lantern displays are primarily concentrated on Chaoyang Street in East City, with some massive decorated boats.

Song Lingsu smiled and said, ”Wei’er and Zhou’er can join me and the third brother, and I’ll show you the most beautiful lanterns.”

”It’s rare for you to come home, Brother. Don’t you have plans with your old friends? Will Zhou’er and I following you be a bother?” Song Ruwei hesitantly said, ”Maybe I should join Grandmother instead, she’s going too.”

Song Lingsu replied, ”Even if I have friends with me, it’s okay, I can still look after you. You can come along now, but in a few years, I can’t take you with me casually.”

Song Ruwei is only ten this year, still a little girl. She can play with her brothers for now, but in a few years, she’ll need to be more cautious.

Hearing this, Song Ruwei felt intrigued and glanced at Ru.

Ru said, ”If you want to go, go, but don’t be unaccompanied.”

Song Ruwei nodded eagerly.

At this moment, Song Ci said, ”If you really do get lost and meet bad people, ask for help. If no one cares, just go ahead and smash something in a shop.”

”Huh?”

Everyone was a bit stunned, what kind of reasoning was this?

Song Ci laughed, ”People fear trouble and may not help, but shopkeepers will definitely react because they want compensation. That way, they won’t let you go, and if they don’t let you go, then you’ll be safe.”

Everyone found this novel and it did seem to make some sense.

Madam said, ”Anyway, when you go out, Su’er, make sure to protect your siblings and take more guards with you.”

”Yes,” Song Lingsu replied with a smile at his siblings, ”Shall we go and change our clothes and get ready, then head out?”

The little ones naturally agreed, and with a flurry, they left the adults behind.

Madam spoke to the sisters-in-law, ”I’m not fit to go out, so you all have been working hard these months. Go out and have fun, I’ll hold the fort here.”

Song Zhicheng clapped his hands, ”That sounds great, Mother, Jiang and I will take Yuanyuan out to see the lanterns, so we won’t keep you company.”

”Go, go,” Song Ci waved her hand, looking at Song Zhiqing.

Song Zhiqing’s eyes flickered as he smiled, ”I’ve arranged to see the lanterns with a couple of colleagues.”

Ru’s expression dimmed, lowering her eyes.

Song Zhiyuan held his cup, smiling slightly, and glanced at Song Zhiqing.

Song Ci feigned disappointment, ”Alright, if anyone is idle and wants to join this annoying old woman, then let’s go see the lanterns together.”
