The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 968: Chapter 968: People Cherish Their Youngest Child

When Song Ci learned that Song Zhiyuan and his wife came together, a smile crept onto his aging face. He looked at his clever son sitting across from him under the south window and nodded secretly.

”It’s been a while since I last saw you, and you’ve gotten darker and thinner. In the palace, does the Emperor not allow you to eat your fill?”

Faced with his mother’s teasing, Song Zhiyuan smiled helplessly and said, ”Being by the Emperor’s side to handle state affairs, there’s no reason not to eat well. Please, don’t tease your son. It’s just that the summer was harsh and the weather too hot, so I ate a little less. As for you, Mother, you seem to have good spirits.”

”I have a new golden grandson, how could I not be in good spirits? The harsh summer is a problem, and now that autumn has come, have your wife instruct the kitchen to prepare more calming and lung-soothing soups to nourish you, so you don’t overwork yourself.”

Madam quickly said, ”Don’t worry, Mother, I’ll remember.”

Just then, the sound of a baby crying came from outside.

Song Ci glanced at the clock and laughed, ”It must be Dan Ge’er knowing his father is back, waking up earlier than usual.”

Song Zhiyuan looked towards the door.

At the age of forty-two, he had another youngest son in middle age, a child born to him and Madam Gu in their later years, making it something he naturally cared about.

Madam Deng carried Dan Ge’er in, followed by two maids. Upon seeing Song Zhiyuan, she immediately tried to kneel.

”Don’t kneel, bring the boy over here.” Song Zhiyuan stopped her.

Madam Deng quickly approached, and Madam had already stood up to personally take Dan Ge’er, handling him with extreme care, afraid that this little ancestor would throw a fit again.

Thankfully, the little ancestor gave face this time and didn’t cry, although Madam seemed a bit disappointed.

Could it be that he knows his father is here and dares not act up?

Song Zhiyuan raised an eyebrow at her casually, without a word.

Madam awkwardly felt like she had slapped her own face.

Song Zhiyuan took the child from her hands and asked, ”I heard the boy had a fever a few days ago, how is he now?”

”Replying to the Prime Minister, Imperial Physician Chen diagnosed him, and his fever subsided on the third day, all is well, just a bit lacking in energy.” Madam Deng responded with a curtsy.

Song Zhiyuan said, ”He’s quite hardy.”

He looked down and, with just one glance, was somewhat surprised that this pale, delicate little fellow was the same dark red-faced little creature he had held once?

It had only been about a month or so, yet it seemed like he had transformed, looking quite resilient and cute.

He weighed the child, feeling a bit hefty, which brought him joy and a smile to his eyes. He clicked his tongue twice to tease the little guy.

Song Zhiyuan, holding a high position in the court, didn’t usually put on airs, but his long-established authority naturally inspired respect. Holding the child with a look of a doting father was indeed eye-opening for others.

”It’s true what they say about fathers doting on their youngest. Seeing the pamper in your eyes, our little Six is fortunate to catch your favor.” Song Ci teased.

Song Zhiyuan laughed and said, ”This child is raised exceptionally well, quite different from when he was just born, definitely charming.”

Madam joined in the fun, ”I told you, the Feng Shui here at Mother’s place nurtures people, Dan Ge’er is blessed to benefit from it.”

Everyone continued to praise Song Ci.

After a bit of amusement, the boy soiled his diaper, and a stench filled the air, even Song Ci couldn’t stand it. Madam Deng and the others hurriedly took him out for a change.

Madam, with understanding, knew that Song Zhiyuan and Song Ci hadn’t seen each other in a long time and likely had private matters to discuss, so she found an excuse to go to the kitchen to order some dishes.

Song Zhiyuan holding his tea, said to Song Ci, ”Mother, Madam Gu has a bit of a stubborn nature at times, sorry for troubling you to look after her.”
