The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 997: Chapter 997: As Foolish as a Pig

Once Princess Consort Ji and her entourage departed, Princess Anping, no longer with any scruples, slammed the table.

”In all my years, I’ve genuinely never seen such an absurd person, as foolish as a pig.”

What does it mean to embrace Great Qing, disregarding the status of Princess Consort Min?

Madam Ji isn’t showing respect for Great Qing, or she’s not considering herself a citizen of Great Qing. Saying such things, isn’t she afraid of being struck by lightning?

Utterly foolish!

With just one word, if it offends the Emperor, it could bring disaster upon her entire clan.

Madam Wen said, ”Long live Princess, don’t get upset and harm your health, it’s unnecessary. Didn’t they say that Madam Ji has never been educated, she’s just an uncouth peasant woman with no understanding of etiquette? It’s normal she can’t speak well.”

Princess Anping’s eyebrows subtly furrowed, was this remark somewhat inappropriate, as Madam Song was present too.

The crowd also fell somewhat silent.

Madam Wen, slightly dazed, belatedly recalled Song Ci’s background, her face slightly changed, quickly putting on a smile to make amends: ”I must say, Madam Ji should learn the ways of etiquette and speech from Madam Song. After all, you’ve raised the Prime Minister. If she learns even a tenth from you, it would be a complete transformation.”

Song Ci sighed: ”I dare not teach, lest I be accused of misguiding others. To be honest, there are quite a few Madams in this capital who look down on my frank and straightforward manner.”

Was she upset or angry?

Madam Wen felt a pang of panic.

Madam Guan smiled and said, ”Madam Song is being modest. After all, even the Empress Dowager regards you as a confidante, which speaks volumes about your character. To be honest, some in this capital who pride themselves on their high standards and adherence to rules are actually quite pretentious. It’s more comfortable to associate with you, Madam. You are indeed a person with great wisdom disguised as simplicity.”

”Indeed, don’t be modest, otherwise, what would that make us?” Princess Anping joined in to lighten the mood.

Song Ci playfully retorted, ”You’re all saying such nice things to flatter me, are you afraid I’d skip out on that promised banquet with you?”

”Skipping, what does that mean?”

”It’s like standing someone up, meaning breaking a promise and not showing up as agreed.”

Everyone immediately laughed and said, ”You said it yourself, we’re not worried because you will certainly keep your word.”

The atmosphere livened up once again.

While Song Ci and her group were in high spirits, the mood was tense and gloomy on Princess Consort Ji’s side.

”Aunt...”

Madam Ji had just opened her mouth when Princess Consort Ji slapped her to the ground, making her scream.

”Fool, shut up!” Princess Consort Ji pointed at her and scolded angrily, ”How did the Ji Family end up with such a pig-headed person like you as the eldest daughter-in-law, it’s simply bad luck. If I had known you were this stupid, I would’ve let my elder brother and sister-in-law divorce you, saving the entire Ji Family from trouble.”

Madam Ji covered her face and cried: ”Aunt, what did this niece-in-law do wrong? After all, this niece-in-law gave birth to three strong boys for the Ji Family.”

”Tsk, like others couldn’t give birth? It’s not just your mistake, it’s that you don’t even know where you’re wrong, which is the real mistake!” Princess Consort Ji almost moved to kick her, angrily said: ”You say they embrace Great Qing, how ridiculous. If they don’t embrace Great Qing, do they embrace the former Xia Country? You dare speak such treasonous words; if you want to die, just hang yourself with a white silk from the beam but don’t drag down the Ji Family!”

Madam Ji’s face turned ashen: ”Aunt, how is it treasonous? I was just speaking up for you, wasn’t Madam Song’s words mocking you for marrying such a daughter-in-law?”

”Silence! Someone, send her back to the Ji Family, deliver my decree that she is not allowed to leave!” Princess Consort Ji’s gaze at her was like she wanted to devour her.

Madam Ji choked on a mouthful of blood, nearly spitting it out, why was she forbidden from leaving?
