The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 952: Chapter 952: Nanny, at Least Give Me Some Face

Song Ci rested her feet after drinking two cups of tea and then suggested taking her leave, as she still had to make offerings.

The Princess Consort of Prince Min stood beneath the pavilion, seeing her off, without mentioning any future visits. After all, given her awkward status, sharing just these two cups of tea with Song Ci was sufficient. Too frequent interactions would be detrimental to Song Mansion.

Song Ci likely understood this, and tactfully did not bring it up either. With a polite farewell and a wish to meet again if fate allows, she was surrounded by maids and servants as she departed. Watching Song Ci walk away, the Princess Consort of Prince Min took Wan Chun’s hand to return to the pavilion, her body turning in circles from different angles, with scenery wherever her gaze landed.

She suddenly laughed, her laughter reaching her eyes, her brows, and eyes relaxed.

”Wan Chun, you were right, that Madam Song is truly someone who lives with profound clarity. It’s truly enviable.”

Wan Chun saw her genuine smile and knew she was sincerely happy and content, causing her eyes to slightly moisten. If only her master could always smile so joyfully.

Little did the master and servant know, during their journey down the mountain, the very person they envied was currently being nagged by her close Nanny.

Being so unguarded, drinking water from outside—what if something were added to it, wouldn’t it be a problem?

”Good Nanny, I have a picky Nan Shan who tried it first. Since she drank it without issue, that’s when I dared to drink it. See, aren’t I healthy and lively?” Song Ci grinned and pleaded, ”So, please stop scolding me, my ears are about to grow calluses.”

Nanny’s eyebrows raised, ”But what if Nan Shan can’t detect something one day?”

”How could that be? Nan Shan has undergone professional training.” Song Ci looked at Nan Shan, with an expression urging her to support the argument.

Nan Shan said, ”Nanny is right, Madam, I am not a deity. If there were truly a poison I couldn’t taste...”

Song Ci, embarrassed, said, ”I was just thinking that it was a chance meeting. She avoids it so much; why would there be ill intent? Besides, I haven’t offended her; why would she harm me? If she wanted to, it wouldn’t be so obvious, would it?”

Nanny opened her mouth, intending to mention the opponent’s identity.

Song Ci held her hand, saying, ”I know, you want to say her surname is Xia, but Nanny, the Xia dynasty has long been submerged in the historical tide. Even if someone wants to stir things up with the Xia family, those men claiming great ambition, would they support a woman to ascend the throne?”

Don’t mention this era—even in later generations, there are men who see themselves as emperors. How would the men here willingly allow a woman to undertake great tasks?

”So, rest assured, her surname is Xia merely as a bargaining chip to appease various old factions. She knows this, too. If she weren’t self-aware, would the royal favor allow her to live peacefully to this day?”

The Princess Consort of Prince Min lived her entire life under surveillance, there’s no escaping it. Even among those serving her and the guards above, how many aren’t spies?

Nanny sighed, ”You are the Madam, always making sense.”

Song Ci grinned, ”Yes, yes, yes, so at least give your Madam some face, hmm?”

Nanny shook her head helplessly and said, ”During the offering, you mustn’t go forward. With many people and prying eyes, if something happens, it would be a big deal.”

”Alright, alright, I’ll listen to you, I’ll listen to everything you say.”

Nan Shan pursed her lips and smiled slightly.

As the group walked forward, approaching the entrance to the back mountain, they saw Shang Pu being supported by his wife going up the mountain, followed by several accompanying maids.

”Madam, nice to see you again.” Shang Meiniang’s eyes lit up as she took two steps forward but was stopped by the guards.
