The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Consort Mother Thanks Lin Qing

Lin Qing was reading medical books in the west wing next door. In front of her was also a booklet with several medicinal recipes written on it.

Hearing the slight sound of the curtain moving, she looked up and saw it was Nanny Gong, so she stood up.

”Nanny, has the Matriarch woken up?”

Nanny Gong nodded, ”She has woken up. The Matriarch just had a nightmare and wants Doctor Lin to prescribe a Sedative Soup.”

Lin Qing was a bit surprised and was about to head out: ”How did she have a nightmare? I’ll go and see her.”

Nanny Gong pulled her back, ”No need to hurry, the Matriarch is fine. Hong Xiu and the others are tending to her, getting ready for a medicinal bath.”

Seeing the situation, Lin Qing sat down again.

Nanny Gong poured herself a cup of tea, calmed her nerves, and looked at Lin Qing asking, ”Doctor Lin, you’ve been at the mansion for a few days now. Have you found any inconveniences? Please don’t keep any grievances bottled up. If the maids are not serving you attentively, I will report to the Madam to have them replaced for you.”

Lin Qing quickly said, ”Everything is fine, really. To be honest, these past few days have been the most leisurely and free time I’ve had since practicing medicine.”

In the Prime Minister’s Mansion, under such tall trees’ protection, she only had to care for the Matriarch’s health and occasionally give acupuncture to a few Madams, without much else to do.

The people in the Prime Minister’s Mansion treated her courteously. Her residence was quiet and elegant, without worries about food and clothing, giving her more time to research unresolved medical cases and books, as well as to study her medical skills.

The mansion also had a resident doctor named Ma, who was quite elderly. Whenever she encountered something she didn’t understand, she could consult the resident doctor, gathering ideas, which helped her understand things she previously didn’t.

So, she really felt quite leisurely and free here.

”Our Matriarch can be a bit stubborn at times; please bear with her.”

”Not at all.” Lin Qing did not agree, saying, ”To be honest with Nanny, before coming here, the Madam of Loyal and Brave Marquis reminded me of the Matriarch’s temperament. I also thought the Matriarch might be hard to deal with, but after these few days of interaction, I feel the Matriarch isn’t as difficult as the Marquis’s Madam said. On the contrary, the Matriarch is very witty and highly intelligent. I find her quite agreeable.”

Nanny Gong’s smile froze for a moment before returning to normal. She slowly took a sip of tea, only to feel the tea in her mouth was bitter too.

Lin Qing didn’t notice her subtle expression, saying, ”I also find that the Matriarch treats the servants well, not at all overbearing. I’ve treated many Matriarchs in the back courtyards, and the Matriarch of the Prime Minister’s Mansion is really the most approachable Matriarch I’ve ever met, without a hint of arrogance.”

”Speaking honestly, the Matriarch’s health was ruined in her early years. It’s not just old ailments but damage to her internal organs. How many years she can hold on depends entirely on fate.” Lin Qing’s voice lowered significantly, ”In such a state, it’s quite good. Her mood is relaxed and clear, knowing to take care of herself, she can certainly live longer. Otherwise, if she were emotionally burdened and couldn’t unwind, everything I do would be in vain.”

Nanny Gong was startled: ”Doctor Lin, the Matriarch...”

”Nanny, I can cure illnesses but not fate. All I do is to try to prolong the Matriarch’s lifespan.” Lin Qing smiled faintly, ”Now, the Matriarch is stable, the mansion is stable, and with the mansion stable, you servants are also stable, right?”

Nanny Gong was suddenly enlightened, she stood up and solemnly bowed to Lin Qing, ”Hearing a word from Doctor Lin is better than reading books for ten years. Doctor Lin deserves my bow.”

Lin Qing quickly stepped aside, jokingly saying, ”Nanny, you have rank, receiving your bow would reduce my fortune. I heartily accept your intention.”

Nanny Gong laughed, and in her heart, a decision was made.
