The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 67: Chapter 67: The Pill, Exposed

If you ask whether Song Ci is afraid of death, it’s hard to say. To claim she’s not afraid—when truly facing death, there must always be a hint of reluctance.

But to say she’s afraid, it doesn’t seem that terrifying. After all, she has already ’died’ once. At worst, if she dies again this time, it’ll be a true death, and not another reincarnation. If she’s lucky, she might return to the modern world.

Actually, more than fearing death, Song Ci is more afraid of her frail and sickly body falling ill from time to time. After all, death is a release, but the torment of illness—now that is truly a fate worse than death.

So would Song Ci not heed Lin Qing’s words? No, she must comply, just for a few more comfortable years, to take in the splendor of ancient times.

”Doctor, just devise a treatment plan, and I will definitely cooperate with you,” Song Ci said firmly, holding Lin Qing’s hand.

Lin Qing: ”...”

An elder so cooperative is truly rare. It seems she greatly values the status of the Prime Minister’s Mansion as well. Of course, if she were gone, Prime Minister Song would go into mourning. How could she be willing?

”If that’s the case, then I will perform acupuncture and massage on you daily, to at least expel some long-accumulated bodily toxins, along with medicinal diets for adjustment,” Lin Qing said.

Madam Song was taken aback: ”Toxins? How could there be toxins? Are you saying that someone poisoned our Dowager?”

Lin Qing was about to explain when Song Ci spoke up: ”It’s not poisoning. It’s the residues from various past illnesses, gradually settling in, forming toxins that remain in the body, making it feel uncomfortable and heavy.”

Madam Song was a bit bewildered; how could the old lady understand this?

Lin Qing was even more surprised: ”Dowager, you actually know this medical principle?”

Song Ci: ”...”

Oops, got caught.

She laughed nonchalantly: ”I once heard a traveling doctor mention it. It sounded quite intimidating, so I remembered it. Haha, seems like I haven’t gone senile yet.”

Ah, so that’s how it is.

Lin Qing smiled and said: ”Then you must have met a very skilled traveling doctor who was quite accurate too.”

”Indeed.”

Song Ci could lie without blinking an eye.

”If the Dowager agrees, shall we proceed as planned?”

Song Ci nodded, then cautiously asked: ”Um, will the acupuncture be painful?”

Lin Qing: ”I will be gentle.”

Song Ci pulled a bitter face, meaning it would still hurt. After all, how could acupuncture not be painful?

Lin Qing agreed to come in the evening for treatment, then took her leave.

Watching Madam Song, Song Ci said: ”You have plenty of matters, you should go back too. The eldest wants you to take care of domestic affairs as well.”

Madam Song suddenly thought of her previous ’wild words’ and blushed. Pretending to be unfazed, she said, ”The Prime Minister has not returned home yet.”

”Even so, go back to your courtyard and do what you wish to do.”

Madam Song feigned sorrow and said: ”It seems mother is annoyed by me, so I won’t stay here to annoy you. If mother needs anything from your daughter-in-law, just send Hong You and the others.”

Song Ci’s heart was filled with ellipses; are all ancients so melodramatic?

After Madam Song left, Song Ci reclined again, instructing Nanny to distribute the things purchased to various rooms. Just as she closed her eyes, she heard a series of loud shouting from the courtyard.

Song Ci opened her eyes abruptly and, supporting herself with Hong You’s hand, got up and walked inside: ”Quick, say I was tired from walking and fell asleep. Tell him to go back to his study and read, no need to attend to me.”

She couldn’t stand the little drama king ’fake Baoyu’ calling her dear and sweet with every sentence.

Hong You and the others were amused; they didn’t expect even the Fourth Master would have a day the Dowager found annoying.

Nanny watched Song Ci disappear behind a screen, furrowing her brow slightly, as she moved to block Song Zhiyu at the door.
