The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 51: Chapter 51 The Prime Minister’s Mansion’s Madam Makes Way

”So tall.”

Song Ci and Song Lingzhou looked at the sign of Shangzhen House and marveled with their mouths open.

The sight of the elderly and young duo behaving like they’ve never seen the world made Song Ruqi, who was standing not far behind them, blush with embarrassment, especially when she noticed the gazes from not far away, which made it even more humiliating.

It was understandable for her fourth brother, but for her grandmother, at such an age, to act so unsophisticated, where was the dignity of the Old Madam of the Prime Minister’s Mansion?

So shameful, if she had known, they wouldn’t have come out.

Just then, a shop assistant led a guest out, and in front walked a maid with twin buns in pink, accompanied by another maid in blue assisting a young wife with a married woman’s hairstyle.

”Hey, what are you all doing blocking the doorway? Move aside quickly, what if you bump into our Madam? How could your store have no one guarding the door, letting people block the path when guests arrive?”

Shangzhen House, with its five floors, sells antiques and treasures, including the Four Treasures of the Study, ancient books and paintings, and jewelry, all at exorbitant prices and with an excellent reputation, frequently visited by many nobles.

The group including Song Ci came for this very reason, but little did they expect to be mocked just for stopping to look at the sign for a while.

Song Ruqi was the first to get angry, wanting to reprimand the disrespectful maid, but seeing Song Ci, she pursed her lips instead.

This was not her place to speak.

Song Ci looked over and saw the maid casting a sideways glance at their group, then she looked past her to the lady behind.

She was dressed in fine silk and satin, with her hair adorned with ruby hairpins, her cheeks full, and her belly slightly protruding—an expectant mother, indeed.

”Xiaozi, don’t be rude,” the lady’s voice was very gentle as she chided the maid, then she smiled apologetically at Song Ci, saying, ”The maid is impolite, I hope Old Madam won’t mind.”

Song Ci saw the lady’s gentle smile and smiled in return, saying, ”It was our fault, standing in the middle of the road and blocking you.”

Saying this, she moved aside to make way for the lady to pass first.

This move made the lady pause for a moment. She could tell that this Old Madam, surrounded by maids and servants and accompanied by guards, should be someone prominent in the capital, yet she was yielding the way to a junior like her.

Not only was the lady taken aback, but even Song Ruqi and the others were somewhat dumbfounded. With the prestige and power of the Prime Minister’s Mansion, did they even need to make way for others?

Yet, Grandmother stepped aside.

Luo Wanfang was somewhat flustered, slightly curtsying while holding onto the maid’s hand, ”Old Madam, there’s no need to step aside, you are the elder, we can wait.”

Song Ci shook her head with a smile, ”Though I am indeed the elder, it is true that I was blocking the road, which I shouldn’t have been. You are also with child, so it’s only right I make way for you. You must be tired.”

Luo Wanfang was momentarily stunned, feeling an inexplicable stir of emotion in her heart. The simple acknowledgment of her fatigue moved her.

No one had ever said that to her before.

”Old Madam Song, your presence here is an honor, I apologize for not greeting you sooner. Please, this way,” a chubby shopkeeper wearing a cap ran over, sweating and nodding and bowing politely to Song Ci, then shot a glare at the staff for making the gracious Old Madam wait.

Song Ci nodded to Luo Wanfang, then took Song Lingzhou’s hand and ascended the steps, entering Shangzhen House.

Song Ruqi followed, casting a cool glance at the maid called Xiaozi, her noble demeanor so imposing that Xiaozi turned pale.

Once the group had all entered Shangzhen House, Luo Wanfang asked the shop assistant which mansion in the capital they belonged to.

The shop assistant replied with a troubled expression, ”It should be the Old Madam of the Prime Minister’s Mansion.”

Judging by her age and the shopkeeper’s words earlier, it must be true.

Luo Wanfang was quite surprised and murmured, ”The Old Madam of the Prime Minister’s Mansion, no wonder she carries herself with such grace.”

Beside her, Xiaozi’s face had turned deathly pale. She had offended the Old Madam of the Prime Minister’s Mansion, she was done for.
