The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Others Strive for Fame, He Strives for Brotherhood

Song Ci picked up a few cards and looked at them, asking Nanny about the background of these families.

”Baoyu doesn’t have any official title, he’s still a little wastrel, yet so many people are interested in him. By the way, didn’t Old Madam Wei also mention a matchmaking last time?”

Nanny, hearing her call Baoyu, was a bit puzzled, thinking it was just Song Zhiyu’s name with a ”Bao” attached, and laughed: ”Although Fourth Young Master doesn’t have any titles, the Song Family’s lineage is quite something, and he’s handsome too, naturally attracting interest.”

Song Ci nodded: ”True, he can’t compete with others in terms of titles, but he can compete in brothers. Just saying ’my brother is the Prime Minister’ is enough to stand his ground.”

In these times, holding power was the real deal. It’s true Song Zhiyu didn’t have titles, but he was lucky to have a big, influential brother.

Nanny grinned: ”That’s right, Madam.”

”Mother, your dear is here to greet you.” Song Zhiyu’s lively voice came from outside the door.

Song Ci shivered, saying: ”Speak of Cao Cao and here he comes. How can he get married, being so jumpy and childlike?”

He’s sixteen years old, still just a child, not yet stable or mature enough to take care of another woman and his own home.

Oh, the ancients!

Song Zhiyu whirled in like a little whirlwind, smiling as he saluted and greeted Song Ci: ”Fourth Son greets Mother with good wishes.”

Song Ci was accustomed to this lively son, patted the seat beside her, indicating for him to sit down: ”It’s rare that you didn’t go with your wild friends to gamble crickets and wander the taverns today. Back home from school so early? Skipping school, or out of silver?”

Song Zhiyu cheerfully held out his palm: ”Out of silver, will Mother give me some?”

Song Ci slapped his palm: ”Get lost! You don’t even honor your old mother, and you still want to rely on me. You’re really something.”

”Mother, you don’t care for Yu’er anymore. You used to say you’d save all your private silver for me.” Song Zhiyu looked full of grievance.

Song Ci didn’t blink: ”Silly son, I was just teasing you, and you believed it? Too naive and too genuine.”

Song Zhiyu: ”...”

Nanny brought tea over and happened to hear this, her mouth curling slightly.

”Anyway, whatever Mother says, the son believes.” Song Zhiyu sniffed, took a sip of tea, casually picked up a few cards from the small table by the bed, and asked: ”What are all these cards? Someone invited Mother to admire flowers and drink wine?”

”Not at all, it’s an invitation for me to burn incense, oh, for matchmaking that is.”

Phh.

”Cough cough.” Song Zhiyu hurriedly grabbed a handkerchief to wipe his mouth, looking at his mother in astonishment: ”Mother, what did you say?”

How come after she got sick, he couldn’t understand his mother’s words?

”It’s matchmaking, you’ve forgotten you’re single, with many people eyeing you.” Song Ci gave him a sideways glance.

Single dog, what on earth is that?

Song Zhiyu wasn’t entirely dumb; piecing together the context, he understood, and for once felt a bit shy, saying: ”Is Mother thinking of selecting a girl for me? Which family’s girl have you taken a liking to?”

Seeing his shyness, Song Ci teased: ”Want to get married?”

Song Zhiyu scratched his head and said: ”My brothers are all married, enjoying the warmth of family, while I have no one. I also want someone to bring me a cup of hot tea at night.”

”If all you think about is someone taking care of you, then don’t think about getting married. Not caring for your wife isn’t being a good husband.” Song Ci pinched his cheek, sighing at the nice feeling, pinching it again.

”Anything works, anything works, I can take care of her too. So, Mother, give me a hint, which families have you considered? So I can prepare.”
