The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Teaching the Grandson, the Demeanor that the Prime Minister’s Mansion Should Have

Song Ci and her party were invited into the elegant private room of Shangzhen House. The shopkeeper personally led the staff in with tea and snacks, and with a series of apologetic words.

”Madam, it’s an honor to have you here. The staff were truly blind not to recognize you, and I apologize for our lack of hospitality.”

Song Ci chuckled and said, ”The shopkeeper is too polite. We just arrived and haven’t even entered yet, so how could there be any lack of hospitality? As for whether the staff recognize me or not, I’m not Silver; it’s impossible for everyone to know me!”

Shopkeeper: ”...”

Are you blaming me?

Everyone: ”...”

Is this humor or sarcasm?

The shopkeeper, trembling with fear yet full of smiles, said, ”Madam, you really know how to joke.”

Song Ci took a sip of tea and looked at the two young girls, Song Ruqi and Song Ruwei, saying boldly, ”Whatever you want to buy, feel free to browse. If you like something, buy it. Grandmother will cover the cost.”

Song Ruqi thought, why bother browsing? You could just ask the shopkeeper to bring everything over. Grandmother doesn’t even understand this, truly embarrassing.

The shopkeeper of Shangzhen House, Mr. Lu, a shrewd person himself, noticed Song Ruqi’s look and smiled, saying, ”Second Miss, there’s no need to go out to the main hall. We have recently received quite a few new jewelry pieces, including jade and hairpins. I can bring them here for Second Miss and Third Miss to have a look at?”

Song Ruqi was intrigued by his words and nodded graciously, ”Bring them all over for a look.”

Shopkeeper Lu quickly agreed and went down with the staff, telling them to enjoy the tea in the meantime.

Song Ci said, ”Since we are out shopping, it’s fun to pick things out by yourself outside.”

She knew that every shop had special services for select clients, like modern-day VIPs, but wasn’t the fun in shopping doing it yourself?

”Grandmother, we’ll go upstairs to have a look in a while,” Song Ruwei said obediently.

Song Ruqi still felt a bit miffed and watched as Song Ci asked Song Lingzhou what he wanted to buy and casually mentioned going shopping. Ruqi said, ”Grandmother, why did you yield to that woman just now? We are from the dignified Prime Minister’s Mansion, why would we yield to others? That wretched maid has no sense at all.”

Song Ci had already noticed Ruqi’s displeasure but hadn’t realized it was because of this.

”It was just giving way, what’s the problem?” Song Ci put down her teacup, thought for a moment, and said, ”The Prime Minister’s Mansion is indeed respected, but just because of that, it doesn’t mean everyone should yield to us. If you’re wrong, you should admit it. We were blocking the way, so isn’t it normal to let people pass?”

Song Ruqi frowned.

”Even if we weren’t blocking the way, would giving way be beneath us? The other person was pregnant, so why not let her pass? Think about it. If we insist on not letting them through and the other party also insists, naturally there will be conflict and disagreement, and if in the clash we accidentally bump into the pregnant woman, then what?”

”If we did bump her and something happened to her child, it would become enmity between our two families, and all this just over giving way on a small matter.” Song Ci looked at them and said, ”Don’t underestimate a small matter; small details can often trigger major conflicts. They say a thousand-mile dyke can be destroyed by an ant nest, just because of these small details. Clearly just giving way could avoid it, so why create a hidden danger that brings great trouble to ourselves?”

”Little girl, just giving way doesn’t mean it degrades our noble status. Our grand Prime Minister’s Mansion should have the magnanimity of the Prime Minister’s Mansion. Winning for a moment of pride doesn’t make you fatter, but rather brings great losses. What’s the point of arguing over it?”

Song Ruqi was stunned, and at the side, Song Ruwei seemed thoughtful.
