The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 53: Chapter 53 The Double-Standard Grandmother

After listening to Song Ci’s reasoning, Song Ruqi and the others, including the maidservants and attendants in the private room, fell into deep thought.

Song Ruwei glanced at Song Ruqi, her eyes full of questions. Wasn’t it said that this old matriarch lacked significant wisdom?

But listening to this reasoning, it’s quite fair and even quotes famous sayings.

”Grandmother, you mentioned accommodating with a broad perspective, but what if someone bullies us?” Song Lingzhou spoke with his mouth full of pastry, ”Are we still supposed to yield like the tree?”

Song Ci took a napkin and wiped the pastry crumbs from the corner of his mouth, saying, ”Someone’s bullying us?”

Song Lingzhou nodded, took a sip of tea to swallow the pastry, and spoke clearly, ”Yes, we clearly didn’t make the first move or cause any trouble, but the other side just wants to bully us. Should we still yield just to show the grandeur of the Prime Minister’s Mansion?”

Song Ci spat lightly.

”Of course not!”

Song Ruqi’s eyes lit up slightly, there it is, Grandmother’s crudeness made an appearance; she hasn’t changed.

Song Ci snorted, ”If we’re minding our own business and they insist on bullying us, standing still would be foolish. In such cases, the right way is to stand up and fight back decisively.”

”...”

Cough cough cough.

Some of the maidservants started coughing, Madam’s words were quite bold.

Song Ruqi couldn’t help asking, ”Then why did you talk about having a broad outlook just now?”

Such double standards.

”The broad outlook depends on the occasion and the person. Some people aren’t worthy of us treating them with such grace. Remember, the Prime Minister’s Mansion has its grandeur, but also its dignity and authority. We don’t bully others, but we’re not pushovers either. You should have your own boundaries; if someone crosses them, don’t hesitate, fight back immediately. If you can’t handle it yourself, call for help. Adults have your back.”

Song Ruqi’s mouth twitched.

That’s indeed you.

Song Lingzhou’s eyes curved with delight; Grandmother’s temperament suited his taste, and he liked it.

Song Ruwei cautiously glanced at Song Ci, feeling that the elderly woman in front of her was quite different from the one in her mother’s stories. Are they really the same person?

Song Ci, unaware of her granddaughters’ thoughts, simply said, ”Let me teach you another thing: remember this, whoever provokes first loses. So, when you really encounter unreasonable people, forget about grace and fight back!”

”Grandmother, there are always people with a higher status than us,” Song Ruqi said helplessly.

The status of the Prime Minister’s Mansion is esteemed, but there are others even nobler, like the Royal Family or some prestigious aristocratic families that have more reputation than us newly established nobles.

”Still the same, don’t be afraid to stand your ground.” Song Ci glanced at her, ”Little girl, even if you’re from the Prime Minister’s Mansion, remember this, even you lads must remember, the Prime Minister’s Mansion doesn’t start trouble, but we’re not afraid of it, understand?”

As elder instruction, even if Song Ruqi and the others were reluctant, they had to stand up and respond.

”Grandson(granddaughter) will heed Grandmother’s teachings.”

Song Ci had her fill of being the ’teacher’, squinted with a smile, and waved them off, ”Alright, enough with the long-winded talk, we’re out on a stroll, go enjoy shopping and buy whatever you like. I’ll stay here, wait for the shopkeeper, have some tea, and see if there’s anything suitable.”

Song Ruqi thought for a moment, shopping wasn’t a bad idea, then took Song Ruwei out, followed by several maidservants and grannies.

Song Lingzhou didn’t follow because he was enjoying his food again.
