The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Everyone Come and Feel the Harsh Words of the Mother-in-Law

”Greetings to Mother.”

Several of the women of the Song Family stood up and together bowed slightly to Song Ci.

Song Ci raised her hand: ”Rise, no need for formalities.”

Lin Qing followed her in, bowed to the ladies of the Song Family, and then stood up straight.

”Mother’s complexion is even better than yesterday. It seems Doctor Lin’s medical skills are outstanding,” Madam of the Song Family noted, seeing Song Ci’s face looking rosy, feeling somewhat delighted.

An elder with good vitality and health means stability for the Prime Minister’s Mansion, as there wouldn’t be a constant worry of holding mourning duties.

As for the other elder ancestor in the mansion, oh, Madam of the Song Family never thought she would be in poor health; after all, she could still marry into a second family. She appeared lively enough to look ten years younger than her peers; living another twenty or thirty years shouldn’t be a problem.

”Indeed, Mother, your complexion is so good that I thought you had applied powder,” Mrs. Jiang chimed in with a smile.

Mrs. Lu, seeing her two sisters-in-law speaking favorably, laughed and said, ”Mother, if you have any health tips, you must generously share them with your daughters-in-law.”

”So early in the morning, all your mouths seem smeared with honey. Did you all have sweet porridge for breakfast today?” Song Ci said to the daughters-in-law, each with their unique virtues, ”What health tips could I have? It’s just that Lin Qing’s acupuncture is effective. After a session, I do feel a bit more lively.”

Lin Qing did not take credit, smiling modestly: ”I don’t dare claim it, partly due to your own practice in martial arts.”

”Just take the compliment, I mean it sincerely. You don’t need to be modest,” Song Ci patted her hand and then looked at the ladies of the Song Family: ”Coming to pay respects so early, have the children all gone to the clan school? Have Ruwei and Zhou’er gone as well?”

Mrs. Lu stood up and said, ”Replying to Mother, they’ve gone with their elder siblings today. I dropped them off before coming.”

”They start clan school so early. Can they adapt?” Song Ci calculated that these children’s school hours were earlier than modern elementary schools; truly pitiful.

”Mother, Su’er and the others all went through it this way. Did you forget?” Madam of the Song Family smiled and said, ”Waking up for the morning drill is our Song Family’s tradition.”

”So the children are indeed quite unfortunate,” Song Ci sighed lightly.

Madam of the Song Family and Mrs. Jiang exchanged glances. They had heard that back when the Prime Minister studied, he would get up before dawn, urged by the old lady with a cane, but when it came to the grandchildren, she couldn’t bear it?

That must be the indulgence of grandchildren by their grandparents.

Song Ci then asked Mrs. Lu if Song Ruwei had picked out a courtyard.

”It has been chosen. It’s in the Glass Pavilion. Ruwei said once she moves in, she’ll invite Grandmother for a drink,” Mrs. Lu replied with a smile.

Song Ci, slightly interested, told her Nanny: ”Remember to choose a gift later, to congratulate the girl on her move.”

”Yes, Grand Madam.”

Mrs. Lu, somewhat flattered, hurriedly stood and thanked her on behalf of her daughter.

”What were you talking about with the prescriptions earlier? Who’s feeling unwell? Have Lin Qing administer acupuncture,” Song Ci’s mood was light enough to chat about household matters with her daughters-in-law; after all, in these olden times, without the internet or TV, what else did women have to talk about but gossip and household affairs?

Madam of the Song Family coughed, glancing at Mrs. Jiang, indicating for her to experience their mother-in-law’s fearless words.

Mrs. Jiang felt no embarrassment, especially after seeing Song Ci’s refreshed look post-acupuncture, she looked at Lin Qing with a slightly fervent gaze.

”It’s not that anyone feels unwell, it’s just that I want to have a daughter, but there’s been no movement,” Mrs. Jiang smiled, looking at Lin Qing, ”So I was hoping Doctor Lin could check my pulse and adjust my body so I can have a daughter.”

Lin Qing: ”...”

She came to the Song Family, mainly to be the personal physician for the Grand Madam of the Prime Minister’s Mansion, so why did everyone seem to consider her the Fertility Goddess?
