The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 71: Chapter 71 Talking Nonsense with A Straight Face

The existence of traditional Chinese medicine has its own reasoning, as Song Ci deeply realized its power the next morning after getting up.

”The Madam’s energy seems much better today.” A few maids, holding face basins and towels, joined in cheerfully.

Song Ci remarked with a laugh, ”Doctor Lin certainly has some skills. After just one acupuncture session and with the herbal bath, my body does feel a bit refreshed.”

At least it’s not as heavy as before; the pain was worth the rewarding results.

The maids chimed in with more compliments, making Song Ci burst into smiles, then she changed into loose Tai Chi attire to perform her daily exercises.

Lin Qing had arrived early as well, preparing medicinal porridge for Song Ci and intending to feel her pulse. Upon reaching Chunhui Hall, she saw Song Ci’s hands and feet moving in strange motions, slowly and softly.

Yet, upon closer inspection, there was strength within the softness, giving off a sense of balance between gentleness and firmness.

After completing a routine of Tai Chi Boxing, Song Ci showed a flushed complexion, slightly panting, and with a slight sheen of sweat on her forehead, looking very healthy.

”Greetings, Madam.” Lin Qing curtsied to Song Ci with a smile.

Song Ci took the towel from a maid to wipe her forehead and said, ”You arrived so early? No need to come this early in the future; I’m typically still exercising around this time, you can just come at three-quarters past seven.”

Lin Qing replied, ”I gave you acupuncture for the first time last night, so I came early today to check if there might be any discomfort.”

”I feel quite good. Your acupuncture technique is truly marvelous. It was somewhat painful, but effective. I heard you’re from the famed Lu Family of the apricot forest, and indeed, you’re as reputed.” Song Ci said, ”I can handle it, you may continue with the acupuncture today.”

”Alright.” Lin Qing nodded, then curiously asked, ”Madam, what was the name of the martial art you just practiced?”

It wasn’t the commonly known Five Animals Qigong, so its origin was unclear.

”Tai Chi Boxing.”

”Tai Chi Boxing?” Lin Qing repeated, ”Who was the chivalrous creator of it? I haven’t heard of it.”

Song Ci responded, ”Uh, it was a wandering hero... As for the name, I’m not sure. During hard times before, I shared a meal with him, and in return, he taught me this set of boxing, claiming it was self-created.”

The Nanny beside them silently looked at the sky.

Here it comes, she’s about to start her serious nonsense again.

First a wandering doctor, now a wandering hero - what’s next, a wandering person?

”I see. Madam, you indeed have a wide circle. I find this set of boxing quite interesting; it balances strength and gentleness, and doesn’t require large movements, suitable for someone of your age.” Lin Qing believed it.

Song Ci murmured, ”Doctor Lin, Tai Chi Boxing can be practiced by anyone, not just the elderly. It’s merely a way to exercise the body and strengthen immunity.”

As long as no one calls her old, anyone can speak cordially.

”Oh?”

”If Doctor Lin is interested, you could join me in practicing it.” Come and join the fun! Later, we can say she created and taught it; it’s just perfect.

Lin Qing said, ”If Madam is willing to teach without reservations, I would love to learn.”

Seeing her interest, Song Ci smiled until her eyes curved and told the Nanny, ”Have Hongtao and the others tailor a Tai Chi outfit for Doctor Lin, so she can practice with me in the future.”

”Yes, Madam.”

Lin Qing, assisting Song Ci to walk to the main hall, pondered for a moment, then asked, ”Madam, what did you mean by immunity earlier?”

Song Ci explained, ”The human body, you see, has an immune system, like a protective shield. The sturdier the shield, the harder it is for viruses to invade. That’s what’s called immunity - the stronger and healthier the body, the better the immunity.”

”Then...”

”Don’t ask how I know; it’s all what the wandering doctor said,” Song Ci cut her off.

The unmentioned wandering doctor thought to himself, ”I’m quite wronged; a fictitious character setting, what a tough situation.”
