The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Prime Minister Song Gives Madam the Cold Shoulder

What Song Ci was guarding against was also what Song Zhiyuan was guarding against. At this moment, the twin lotus pillow with blue and white porcelain on the Arhat bed was the subject of their conversation as they discussed this matter with Madam Song.

Madam Song peeled an orange, separated it into segments, and placed them on a plate, pushing it forward. She said, ”Even if you had not mentioned it, I had already brought this up with the two younger sisters-in-law. Shouldn’t the Prime Minister remind the boys at home about it as well?”

Song Zhiyuan nodded, ”Around them, I will have Qian Yong assign an additional Hidden Guard to keep an eye on these malicious spirits.”

Although such matters can be settled, once it gets out of hand, it would not reflect well on their family. Moreover, who would want to taint their reputation with such scandals? Isn’t living cleanly much better?

But simple verbal warnings are not enough for them to leave a deep impression. People need to experience things to grow.

Song Zhiyuan squinted his eyes, one hand playing with the sandalwood prayer beads, while the other pinched an orange to eat, secretly planning in his mind.

It is time to create some incidents for those boys.

Madam Song watched him, saying, ”Prime Minister, Qi’er will turn sixteen this winter. How have you planned her marriage? As our daughter grows up, no matter how reluctant, we can’t keep her forever. Keeping her here indefinitely could turn her resentful, couldn’t it?”

Song Zhiyuan came back to his senses, raised his brows, and smiled, ”Why are you worried? Matchmakers are frantically knocking on our door, and you’re still worried? Our daughter won’t have trouble finding a husband.”

”Precisely because she has no trouble finding a husband, I am worried. Do you know, the invitation cards I receive pile up like a small hill, with countless people coming every day to pay respects,” Madam Song gave him a sideways glance, saying, ”It’s not just other families, even Qi’er’s maternal aunt asked me several times, not to mention that Qian’er’s husband’s side also sent Qian’er to inquire.”

”Is the Gu Family joining the fun as well?” Song Zhiyuan was somewhat surprised.

Madam Song: ”The Gu Family is a century-old family, vast and influential, with numerous alliances by marriage. Naturally, with eligible members, they are interested. You don’t know, but Qian’er is so pestered that she uses her pregnancy as an excuse to refuse visitors.”

Song Zhiyuan laughed.

”And there’s Su’er too, who is nominally fifteen. My mother has asked about him several times,” Madam Song tentatively opened her mouth.

Song Zhiyuan’s smile faded: ”There’s no urgency with Su’er’s matter. He hasn’t earned his titles yet, so deciding in a few years won’t be too late. Regardless of who inquires, just say his marriage will be decided by me.”

Madam Song’s heart tightened slightly, saying, ”Are you considering waiting until Su’er has titles before deciding?”

”Su’er is the eldest legitimate son of the first wife; his marriage can’t be casual. We must wait and see before deciding. If he makes something of himself, his future wife won’t be lacking,” Song Zhiyuan said.

Madam Song hesitated for a while and said, ”Actually, Ruoning from my elder brother’s family was personally raised by my mother. Even at a young age, she is very gracious and proper...”

Song Zhiyuan glanced at her, and Madam Song’s face grew warm as she sheepishly lowered her head.

”Madam, I have a plan for Su’er’s marriage in my mind. The daughters of the Duke Zhongyong Mansion are excellent, yet they are not suitable for Su’er.”

The smile at the corner of Madam Song’s mouth nearly faltered.

Song Zhiyuan patted her hand, saying, ”Rest assured, whether it’s daughters-in-law or sons-in-law, nothing will be decided without your approval as the Lady.”

”Alright.”

Song Zhiyuan rose from the Arhat bed, saying, ”I’m going to have a word with Mr. Jun and the others. You don’t have to wait for me. If you’re sleepy, go ahead and rest first. I might sleep in the study.”

Madam Song’s body stiffened slightly but forced a smile to send him off. As soon as he left, her smile vanished, her lips pressed together, and her chest felt stuffy.

Is this the first time her husband showed her a stern face?
