I AM the Football Star

Chapter 142: Chapter 56: One Day Apart, ”Score a Hat Trick

On both sides of the pitch, Bisceglie fans were very dissatisfied.

It’s unclear whether they were unhappy with the team’s failure to defend, allowing Lu Yang to score, or if they were unhappy that Lu Yang’s goal was so quick they couldn’t see it clearly.

After the kickoff was resumed, Bisceglie clearly wanted to give an account to the home fans.

They began to attack aggressively.

On the surface, Bisceglie seemed to have the upper hand.

This also had to do with the many player changes San Remo made during the off-season.

Looking at the current lineup, the vast majority of players are new signings brought in over the summer, and only a little more than ten days of cooperation is not enough for everyone to form a tacit understanding.

So San Remo was also prepared to play a defensive counterattack game.

However, even though Bisceglie was gaining momentum, they couldn’t score.

Left-back Lu Yang was, needless to say, he didn’t let the opponent burst through even once.

His defense was terrifyingly strong; the opponent’s right winger now didn’t even dare to hold onto the ball.

Because as soon as he got the ball, he was not far from losing it.

Latu Yidi’s pressing and Lu Yang’s rushing—wasn’t this Serie A-level defensive quality?

And Palacios truly deserved to be called a strong central defender. With his presence, San Remo was not afraid of high balls from the opponent at all. His aerial duels were even stronger than those of the tall young central defender Naji sitting on the bench.

Meanwhile, the right-back Matias was equally stable; at twenty-six or twenty-seven years old, he was entering the peak period of his career. His immediate combat capability was such that he could easily get a game in Serie B.

And right midfielder Versachi, as an all-purpose midfielder, wasn’t at all rusty when it came to tracking back to do the dirty and hard work of defense.

Looking at the backfield as stable as Mount Tai, Morici was almost moved to tears for a moment.

Five hundred years!

Waiting for five hundred years!

The team finally didn’t need him, a small 1.74-meter-tall player, to take on defensive duties.

Although any midfielder has to participate in defense.

But having defensive duties and not having defensive duties are absolutely two different playing styles.

Now Morici could devote more energy to the offensive end.

He had more time to shake his head, observe all around, without having to concentrate on the football, pay attention to the opponent’s feet, and think about when to go up and sneakily poke away the opponent’s ball.

For an offensive core, this spared him a lot of work.

This point might be easier to explain when put in basketball terms.

The same player, when defending for a long time, could affect his offensive state and touch.

Because the considerations for offense and defense are completely different. Once accustomed to one way of thinking, it becomes difficult to switch to another in a short time.

Just as this was being said, Bisceglie executed a relatively complete attack.

They attempted to break down the right flank but were blocked by Lu Yang.

The two on the opponent’s right flank passed the ball back and forth for quite a while, and finally, a so-called long pass was made to switch the focus of the attack.

In the end, they played for a long time on the left but couldn’t bypass Versachi and Matias, who were waterproof tight.

They could only forcibly make a high ball to the center.

Palacios successfully disrupted this cross, and the football flew toward the direction of the penalty box.

Morici brought down the ball with a high-difficulty move.

His leg was raised even to the level of his shoulder.

The choice to stop the ball in this way was because counterattack opportunities often exist only for a moment.

Bang!

Undoubtedly.

After receiving the ball, Morici immediately kicked the ball out.

However, since he received the ball with his left foot, after stopping it, in pursuit of speed, he could only release it with his right foot.

And he was facing away from the opponent’s goal.

So he chose to rotate his body counterclockwise and kick the ball toward the right front field of his own half.

Youngster Fernandez, who had previously come back to help with defense, now looked at the football and immediately switched from defense to attack, rushing towards the ball.

But as mentioned earlier, Fernandez has many strong points, but his weakness is also obvious: he’s not fast enough.

He managed to reach the ball, but by the time he adjusted, the chasing player behind him was already very close.

The opponent had even secured a position; once Fernandez cut inside, the opponent could intercept the ball.

Fernandez also knew his predicament; he exerted full strength and made a horizontal pass with his right foot while running.

The football traced an arc on the grass from the right side to the left side.

Bai Zhami successfully gained possession.

He took a powerful shot.

But the next moment, the referee’s whistle blew.

Bai Zhami was offside!

On the sidelines, Sotu shook his head.

This is Bai Zhami; he couldn’t integrate into the team’s offense.

Just now, Fernandez was the farthest forward; Bai Zhami, on the left, should have run inward towards the center during the counterattack, controlling his speed so that he remained behind Fernandez.

After all, you can’t expect Fernandez, under the opponent’s relentless pursuit and in fast stride, to also first ensure whether his teammate was offside before passing the ball.

This is the responsibility of the receiver.

But Bai Zhami didn’t do it; at that time, he not only didn’t cut inside without the ball to the center but instead continued to advance on the left flank, without controlling his speed, blazing ahead of everyone.

This increased the difficulty of Fernandez’s pass, and at the same time created an offside.

Morici sighed in the backfield.

This was a good opportunity.

”Hey, shorty, that ball should’ve gone straight to Bai Zhami. He’s faster, and Fernandez’s coordination awareness is better,” Lu Yang shouted at Morici.
