I AM the Football Star

Chapter 103: Chapter 41: Serie A Level Defense, Comprehensive Trial Competition

The staff on the side spoke: ”Director, how should we handle this video footage? If it’s released, it might have some negative impact on Aguirre.”

The director responded without thinking: ”Just broadcast it, but edit it well, it should have some suspense. Edit Aguirre like he’s the main villain, after all, no one expected that the one to save Bai Zhami would be Lu Yang from the Italian D Division.”

”Aguirre’s words are quite normal, not serious discrimination. At most, he can apologize afterward and say he misspoke, it won’t have a very bad impact.”

The staff was speechless.

You call a public apology not serious? Not bad?

The staff said: ”But won’t this affect his status in the team? I mean Rome. This year he’s competing for the main right winger position in Rome, but he ended up being frozen by a player from the Italian D Division, he...”

The director laughed: ”Rome will only thank us because we help to prove Aguirre’s huge flaw, otherwise, why do you think Aguirre would join this program?”

The staff was stunned: ”So... was he sent here by Rome?”

The director smiled without answering.

Those who understand naturally understand!

Aguirre is hedging his bets, but isn’t Rome also giving Aguirre one last chance?

...

Less than half an hour after the conflict between Bai Zhami and Aguirre, Maniero and the others arrived at the pitch.

They had already heard about the conflict that happened here and knew the outcome.

For this, Roman Wolf King Perrotta was somewhat embarrassed.

After all, Aguirre is a reserve forward for Rome, and the coaching staff is even considering promoting him as the main right winger next season to give him a chance to grow.

Honestly, this is bad news for Perrotta, who wants to fight for the league title.

He needs strong partners to compete for glory, not to sacrifice his youth to train young prospects for the team.

Moreover, Perrotta doesn’t particularly like Aguirre.

This guy doesn’t quite grasp the priority of things.

He even dislikes passing the ball to Perrotta, the Wolf King.

Aguirre’s current ability doesn’t match his central playing style, yet he still refuses to change.

Carrel, on the other hand, was quite comfortable.

Oh Wolf King, see, this is the successor of the King of Purple Lilies!

Isn’t our guy outshining yours? Hahaha!

Prince Zebra Ancelotti and Italy’s legendary accomplished left-back Taji were also constantly observing Lu Yang and Morici, as Maniero had just spoken a lot about Lu Yang and Morici in front of them.

This was just like praising one’s own children.

Are they really that excellent?

As the initiator, Maniero stood on the pitch and spoke: ”Welcome everyone to the Star of Italy Training Camp. This is a gathering of many young players either playing in Italy or belonging to Italy.”

”I hope that many years from now, when we look back, we might find that there are so many legendary stars with memories of their youth from this camp!”

”I won’t emphasize much on pitch discipline. I have only one request: solve football problems with football.”

At this, everyone looked at Lu Yang and Aguirre.

These words had a hidden meaning, the five mentors might already know what happened.

This made Aguirre’s expression even more unpleasant.

Maniero continued: ”Today we will conduct a comprehensive trial. I know some players are dissatisfied with the level classification announced by the program, here’s your chance.”

”Your level will be reclassified after the trial, and in the future, it will be reclassified every two or three days. The higher the level, the more likely to enter the next stage. Of course... we will also evaluate from other aspects like potential, field performance, and public support to determine if a player can advance to the next stage.”

”Alright, boys, start your trial!”

After Maniero finished speaking, the camera switched to the previously arranged trial venue.

There were many trial segments.

These included juggling, left and right passing, left and right shooting, sprinting without the ball, dribbling sprint, foot power, and endurance running tests.

And the results were often very clear.

First of all, the five S-level players, qualified as S-levels, almost excelled in these basic skills and mostly scored well.

Those A-level players often were not bad either, and from the data alone, you couldn’t see the difference between them and the S-level players.

For example, Velsa from the Purple Lily’s youth training, his data in all aspects is not worse than Aguirre’s, but Aguirre is S, and he is A.

”The team’s requirements for youth players are not high, or rather for any team, as long as the capability reaches A-level, it’s basically qualified. But whether a player can prove their worth during a loan or in the first team depends on proving they’re different.” Carrel stood beside Lu Yang, explaining to the nearby young players.

Only then did everyone realize.

The five S-level players undoubtedly all have regular league experience.

Either top league sub experience or regular lower league experience, they have passed the test of actual combat, and generally meet everyone’s expectations.

A-level players lack validation.

These players also include Milan’s Sogel.

But there was one person who emerged unexpectedly, whose data didn’t fall short compared to these S-level and A-level players.

And that is... Morici!

”Perfect juggling data, exceptional ball feel! Very balanced with both feet, a rare ambidextrous player, perhaps slightly weaker with the left foot, but his right foot’s outside foot pass is precise enough to make up for this minor non-deficit.” Prince Zebra Ancelotti is a technical forward. He was shocked by Morici’s performance, ”His passing and shooting are excellent, and his long-range shooting has quite a flavor!”

”His outside foot stroke is terrifyingly strong. He will definitely score many goals with this technique! His powerful foot strength and seemingly slender frame are too inconsistent!”

”No, no, no, he’s not slender, his sprint and dribbling sprint without the ball are faster than normal midfielders, he even has the potential to play as a shadow forward! This can maximize hiding his defensive weaknesses.”

Maniero interjected: ”Sorry, Ancelotti, if you watched his match you would know, defense is not his weak point. He is different from me, he has very good auxiliary defensive capability, especially good at completing side interception steals!”

”Also, he is a number ten player, he won’t play a half nine for you, he is my successor, not yours!”

Ancelotti laughed and said nothing, tacitly.

Undoubtedly, Morici’s rating will be adjusted.

Instead, it was Lu Yang, whose trial results seemed surprisingly true to his rating.

Except for his terrifying stamina that left him full of energy after finishing the circuit in a very standout way, he had no technical advantage among these players.

While his capabilities are balanced like Velsa, Velsa’s capabilities are all close to high-level Serie B standards, while Lu Yang’s are between Italian Third Division and Serie B standards.

The former is all-rounder, and Lu Yang seems more like all-can’t-do.

”This...” several mentors didn’t know how to evaluate Lu Yang because Lu Yang was a player highly regarded by Maniero and Carrel.

”It seems some players’ spirit attributes are strong, and they have many highlight moments, but their basic skills are really lacking...” Perrotta reluctantly said a few words.

”He is a player whose capabilities and importance cannot be reflected in training data.” Maniero said without blushing, ”He is a game-type player, a big-hearted player, you will know his differences when we enter the match phase.”

Aside from Carrel, who highly agreed, the other three expressed skepticism.

Many players are excellent in all aspects under normal conditions, with poor performance in actual matches.

But not many players are crappy usually and awesome in matches, this is unheard of.

Because it doesn’t make sense.

Sudden inspiration is based on a certain foundation.

Lu Yang’s foundation is evidently a tier lower than these excellent young players.

In fact, this is indeed Lu Yang’s actual data level.

It was mentioned before, Lu Yang’s comprehensive nature could likely dominate in the Italian Third Division.

But placed in Serie B, he is likely to be ordinary among the crowd.

Before these so-called genius players, many of them have stunning skill features that impress Serie A teams!

There is indeed a gap.

But... just as Maniero said, many of Lu Yang’s advantages cannot be reflected in data.

He needs games to prove himself!
