I AM the Football Star

Chapter 137: Chapter 54: Galaxy Battleship of the Italian Third Division, San Remo

”Oh my god! Really? Arsenal made an offer for Lu Yang?”

”It’s true! Both sides have confirmed the authenticity of this news.”

”This... Mr. Winter is too sneaky, isn’t he? He clearly said before that he didn’t think Lu Yang was a genius!”

”Damn it! I even sided with Mr. Winter before and had a fight with some buddies over it, only to be fooled by him!”

”Are Serie A teams eating shit? Lu Yang is about to be snatched away, yet they remain unmoved?”

”Don’t worry, San Remo refused Arsenal, Lu Yang is not for sale!”

”Not for sale? Doesn’t that just mean the price isn’t right?”

”San Remo is different from other teams, they have ambition, and they really don’t intend to sell Lu Yang.”

”I heard Arsenal’s first bid was one million euros!”

”Wow! That’s a big price! Most transfer amounts for Serie B players are below fifty thousand euros!”

”Not only that! Arsenal’s second bid was two million euros!”

”What? This...”

Two million euros, at this stage, is almost the ceiling price for any young player.

Unless you’ve been seasoned in top-level leagues.

Even some young potential players who have been seasoned in top leagues are only at this price.

Like Sevajos, who is valued near millions, such young players are very few and must have unlimited potential and outstanding match performances.

Moreover, Sevajos is priced without a market, it’s still hard to say exactly how much he’s worth.

Therefore, Arsenal’s offer seems very sincere.

You have to know, Lu Yang is merely a player in the Italian D Division, no, he’s just an Italian D Division player!

Because in fact, he hasn’t played an official game above the Italian D Division.

This made Lu Yang’s value the highest in Italian D Division history, surpassing the previous 1.5 million euros of Vedian!

And Lu Yang is only sixteen!

...

Beep beep beep.

Lu Yang’s phone rang.

It’s Sotu calling.

”Hey, boss!” Lu Yang respected Sotu a lot, after all, this guy gave him the Perpetual Motion Machine, without which Lu Yang couldn’t have been so dazzling in the Star of Italy tournament.

His stamina is enough to support him playing ninety minutes in low-level matches, but high-level match confrontations would only allow him about sixty minutes of combat power.

After all, someone who can walk for ninety minutes may not be able to jog for ninety minutes, let alone move intensely for ninety minutes. Even the most experienced drivers need a break, but in top-level leagues, every clash demands full effort.

And the Perpetual Motion Machine, it maximizes this factor.

This is something all other young talents cannot match with Lu Yang.

”Arsenal has made you an offer, 2.5 million, this is their final offer!” Sotu spoke.

Such news shouldn’t have been relayed by him to Lu Yang, but San Remo is a small club, and Sotu has absolute transfer authority.

Usually, when a club informs a player that ”someone has made an offer for you,” it means the club has agreed to the other side’s offer.

”What, the team wants to sell me?” Lu Yang felt Sotu’s words seemed not to mean this.

Sure enough, Sotu said, ”Of course not, the team refused it immediately. Even though their offer is equivalent to our total investment in the transfer market this summer, but... San Remo is not a team that wants to earn this small amount of money.”

”You’re turning seventeen in a few days, right?”

”Seventeen is when you can sign an official player contract. If you’re willing to stay in San Remo, you will have the second-highest salary at San Remo!”

Sure enough, it might be Sotu, but more likely the San Remo management’s concern that Lu Yang would be attracted to Arsenal that led them to have Sotu stabilize Lu Yang.

After all, it’s Arsenal, a Premier League giant!

And Mr. Winter is famous for being good at training young players.

Very few kids can refuse Mr. Winter, just like very few men can refuse a 36D.

But Sotu is very confident in Lu Yang.

After all, Lu Yang is a man even Sofia hasn’t conquered, he’s not like normal men.

”Rest assured, boss. Even if I join Arsenal now, I would only be loaned out and probably just be playing in lower leagues.” Lu Yang laughed, ”And we’re definitely going to be promoted to Serie B the season after next, why should I give up better growth conditions for just one year?”

”Both Morici and I will stay in San Remo. We hope to write a legend. Not even the superstars have many chances to do this, and we’ve been given this opportunity as soon as we joined a professional team, why wouldn’t we cherish it?”

Sotu was convinced, giving Lu Yang a big thumbs-up which he couldn’t see.

This is called a vision!

Is transferring to a big club rare?

It is indeed rare.

But not that rare!

Because every year, geniuses are bought by big teams.

Even the transfer records each year are constantly being broken.

Now what seems impressive at thirty to fifty million, will be nothing in the future!

Transfer fees will one day reach the point where if it’s not in the billions, it won’t even be worth discussing.

But leading an Italian lower league to Serie A success and achieving honors along the way, this is a true football legend.

Far greater and more reliable than having your name etched into football history with transfer fees and such.

In football, the two greatest things are grassroots miracles and legendary giants.

Both require immense strength and luck.

But the latter can be pursued later on.
