I AM the Football Star

Chapter 136: Chapter 53: I Do Not Acknowledge Him as a Genius!

”He may score a lot, but he hasn’t faced the real Arsenal, and he doesn’t have the strength to compete in a top league.”

”He might survive in lower leagues, but it’s hard for him to perform well. Perhaps the only thing I recognize is his attitude in games, but talent isn’t something you can make up for with hard work.”

”No matter how many 16km runs he does, he doesn’t have Best’s skills!”

”Young players chasing talent with hard work may not be surpassed for a while, but over time, they will fall behind. That’s the difference between real geniuses and fake ones.”

”I’ve heard before about Lu Yang’s understanding of speed-based genius players, and I agree with his point of view. That is, true talent cannot be offset by hard work. His speed isn’t fast enough, his skills aren’t good enough, his basics aren’t solid enough, and his physical condition is much worse compared to defensive players.”

”His real future position is as a defensive workhorse, and I’ve never heard of any genius being of the defensive workhorse type.”

Winter’s assessment of Lu Yang angered the Italians.

But at the same time, it also woke up many people who had high hopes for Lu Yang.

Lu Yang’s template has existed in past football.

Perhaps those people weren’t better goal scorers than Lu Yang.

But... does it matter if a defensive workhorse can score?

Just like Neuer’s goalkeeper play style, although outstanding, does a top goalkeeper need to possess the gatekeeper play style?

No need!

Even if you have such ability, the premise is that your goalkeeping basics are strong enough.

At least, this understanding hasn’t changed even in the decade after Neuer’s appearance.

Goalkeepers are still goalkeepers; there’s only one Neuer as a gatekeeper.

This is enough to show that he hasn’t truly revolutionized the goalkeeper position.

And Lu Yang, can he revolutionize the tactical value of a defensive workhorse?

He cannot.

But... Lu Yang can revolutionize his own tactical value!

This is something those who agree with Winter’s statement ”I don’t acknowledge him as a genius” never expected.

...

The next day, the final episode of Star of Italy aired on time.

Although everyone already knew that the team defeated Arsenal, and even knew that Lu Yang created a miracle by scoring a hat trick, running 73 meters under the siege of eight Arsenal players to score a decisive goal.

But the charm of variety shows lies in this, they allow people to understand the stories behind the matches.

Smith Luo appeared in front of the camera, dejectedly saying, ”If I could, I wouldn’t provoke him. He told me at the time, the player on the 23rd is just a kid, this isn’t the Champions League final, so take it easy.”

”I intended to provoke him, of course, it also relates to the normal level of confrontation in the Premier League, I really had no other ill intentions. But... he obviously couldn’t accept the Premier League standard, so...”

Sevajos: ”This match was very tough for me, I need to strengthen my body training. Of course, I’m very fortunate to be on the same team as Lu Yang. He never lets down the expectations of his teammates, you might just casually pass the ball back to him and end up with an assist.”

Sevajos’s assist came incredibly easily.

He made a wrong pass back, but not only did it avoid danger, it ended up being an assist.

Some fans joked that Sevajos delivered the ”assist of the century”!

Because, in fact, he did nothing.

Sevajos’s advantage is that he’s good at admitting his mistakes.

This is very difficult for excellent young people.

Many people feel that doing so would make them lose face.

Some even think that Sevajos’s value will be greatly reduced in these matches.

But actually... are the teams interested in Sevajos fools?

How could the fact that Sevajos struggles with confrontation escape those teams?

You must know, the team capable of buying Sevajos is at least of a prestigious level, and such a team wouldn’t easily buy a flop.

When they look at so-called ”flops,” it doesn’t mean they’re real flops, it just means the team hoped they trained a certain ability that wasn’t developed, hence not suitable for the match.

European youth training is very complete, any young player who can be sold at a high price must be a genius.

The only difference is whether they can excel in that team.

Besides injuries, nothing can turn a genius into a real flop.

So these matches actually won’t affect Sevajos’s value; instead, they will allow him to understand his shortcomings and strengthen himself.

Sevajos believes that after appropriately compensating for his ability to confront, his future will be brighter.

Sogel: ”In my opinion, any team playing with Lu Yang should be careful not to provoke Morici. I found that Morici is the switch for Lu Yang’s divine intervention!”

Sogel’s statement garnered wide agreement, even though everyone looked at this issue from a joking angle.

Whether in the final league match or in the Star of Italy match, several times Lu Yang’s eruptions were because Morici was infringed by the opponent.

Some extreme fans of Sofia even deliberately spread rumors about a ”bromance” between Morici and Lu Yang, thinking that Lu Yang would spare Sofia as a result.

Little did they know, the reality is that Sofia won’t spare Lu Yang!

Of course, the most explosive and face-slapping news after this match was... Arsenal made an inquiry to Italian Third Division San Remo!

They took a fancy to Lu Yang!

Mr. Winter’s words are really deceptive!

If you believed them, you’ve already lost!
