I AM the Football Star

Chapter 139: Chapter 54: Galaxy Battleship of the Italian Third Division, San Remo (Part 3)

There is a conspiracy theory that Guardiola left Tintin for Manchester City’s own benefit.

This theory may not be the truth, but it does provide a new perspective on the intrigue in the football world.

After all, in top football leagues and clubs, factors like funding, capital, performance, and honors are involved, and just a little scheming can yield significant benefits for someone. It truly tests human nature and character.

...

Soon, Arthas renegotiated the salary terms for Lu Yang and Morici with San Remo.

Because Lu Yang was already seventeen years old.

San Remo offered Morici a twenty thousand euro annual salary, which is very high for a team in the Italian Third Division. After all, salaries for Serie A stars these days are only about more than one million euros, and many Serie A players don’t earn over Fifty thousand euros.

In Serie B, most main players have salaries of around twenty to thirty thousand.

Morici’s salary is basically the core salary of a Serie B team in advance.

And Lu Yang, due to factors like popularity, received thirty thousand euros.

Both contracts are for four years, and at Arthas’s insistence, the contracts include a ten million euro buyout clause.

The buyout clause is more of a token; it’s not that San Remo thinks their value couldn’t remotely reach ten million euros.

Rather, the club and player relationship is currently in a sweet period.

Even if Lu Yang and Morici really want to leave one day, San Remo won’t set obstacles.

This is also Sotu’s promise to Lu Yang.

It’s the personal touch of a small team.

This point can easily be exploited by player agents, but it can also truly win a player’s loyalty.

Before Moneyball reached the scene, this unspoken agreement between players and teams was quite reliable.

San Remo is sincere, and they state that as long as the team performs well, Arthas is welcome to renegotiate contracts at any time.

At this, San Remo’s main lineup for next season becomes stable.

Although they are just newcomers in the Italian Third Division, many believe San Remo has the potential to challenge Serie B.

With the increase in player salaries, as well as refusing Arsenal, losing Two Hundred Fifty thousand, this summer San Remo’s investments in and out amounted to a staggering five million euros!

This is the level of operation of a Serie A team during the offseason.

For a time, San Remo suddenly gained the title of the ”Italian Third Division Galaxy Battleship.”

Of course, this nickname is mostly media and Italian Third Division teams joking and even ridiculing San Remo.

...

By the end of July, team players began returning one after another to start training.

Normally, a team training twenty days early is quite normal.

The first match of the new Italian Third Division season is indeed scheduled for the end of August.

But San Remo is different; they have an Italian Cup match to play on August tenth.

In the first round of the Italian Cup, there are many non-professional teams, but San Remo wasn’t fortunate in drawing Bisceglie.

Yes, that’s the strong team Bisceglie from the Italian D Division.

Last season, Bisceglie was the mid-season champion of the Italian D Division but ended up not even qualifying for the promotion playoffs, finishing sixth in the league.

But don’t underestimate them because of this, as they were weighed down later by Arnold. Now that Arnold is gone, and Bisceglie’s roster hasn’t changed much, they might be even stronger.

That’s right.

Even after losing a high-level player, a team’s strength might not decrease but increase instead; this is the power of chemistry and the charm of team sports.
