Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Looking at the giant antelope, three meters high and five meters long, frantically attacking a few third-level Soot Skin Demon Fiends in front of it, Babulu gently licked the corner of his mouth.

Fresh blood and flesh...

On this African land, in Babulu’s small tribe, the materials from a third-level greater kudu are enough to exchange for many things!

Oil? Salt? Guns and ammunition? Magic crystals? Maybe even a fresh young girl!

Thinking of this, Babulu even felt his heartbeat surge and quickly suppressed his excitement, unable to help praising his good fortune today.

Just left home not long ago and already encountered an early-stage level 3 mutant beast. More perfectly, this mutant beast happened to be in a fierce fight with several Soot Skin Demon Fiends.

The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.

For professionists roaming the African continent, this is simply common sense.

Ahead, the battle between the greater kudu and the three Demon Fiends was drawing to a close.

Although the fighting ability of antelopes isn’t strong, Soot Skin Demon Fiends are even weaker, and in a one versus three battle, ultimately the kudu declared victory.

Watching the greater kudu raise its head and let out a bizarre roar, Babulu slowly lifted the weapon in his hands—a camouflage-colored, nearly two-meter long heavy sniper rifle!

Cathay made, quality assured—these pre-apocalypse military products have been largely phased out by Cathay, yet for low-level professionists, firearms and other hot weapons still prove quite useful.

Exchanging arms for magic crystals, Lin Haifeng’s business was indeed profitable. It’s not extracting blood from the African continent but rather a mutually beneficial exchange.

”Boom!”

A gunshot rang out, blood splattered.

Watching the antelope tumble to the ground through the scope, blood flowed swiftly from the hole in its head and its life force quickly dissipated, Babulu mimicked scenes he’d seen in movies, gently blowing the gun barrel.

”A perfect shot!”

No time to praise his marksmanship, Babulu quickly dashed out of cover towards the greater kudu’s corpse—the earlier gunshot surely attracted the attention of certain creatures.

After the hunt comes the harvest, and it must be swift.

However...

”Swoosh.”

An unnoticeable energy fluctuation abruptly sounded, and the next second, Babulu only felt his body suddenly heavy, a sharp pain in his neck, then darkness clouded his vision, and the world immediately lost its color.

Behind Babulu, a strange Demon Fiend, about half a meter tall, resembling an insect, stealthily emerged from the ground, quickly crawling beside Babulu, greedily gnawing on his corpse split in two.

In an instant, the roles of hunter and prey reversed.

Hunting and being hunted remain the eternal drama on this land.

...

The flesh of professionists, as if miracle elixirs, significantly strengthen the growth of Demon Fiends.

Moreover, the tender and firm flesh of professionists is undeniably more delicious in taste than that of mutant beasts.

The Demon Fiend that ambushed Babulu devoured large chunks eagerly, its two pairs of dark eyes occasionally glancing toward the fallen corpses of the greater kudu and three Soot Skin Demon Fiends afar.

Today’s harvest was simply perfect! After consuming these, it could again burrow underground, slumber for several more months!

A Demon Fiend is also a creature, and as long as it’s alive, it cannot escape the fear of death! Plus, this Demon Fiend wasn’t part of the formal Demon Tribe Army—after crossing over from the Demon Realm’s Gate, its mission was complete!

The Demon Tribe’s stance was to let them freely live on Earth—as long as they need food, they would bring tiny harm and destruction.

The premise being, it can survive in Earth’s giant cauldron...

Fresh flesh sliding down its throat, the exquisite taste made the strange Demon Fiend’s body tremble, yet it was completely unaware of impending danger.

Until a massive claw filled with scales descended from heaven, crushing the Demon Fiend into a mess.

Before dying, the Demon Fiend vaguely heard two voices.

”That person is dead, boss.”

”Oh, got it.”

...

Looking at the scattered corpses on the ground, Wen Yu thought for a moment and instantly understood the causes and effects of the entire matter.

Silently added another label for Africa in his heart—chaos.

Africa lacks a strong ruler—not just humans, but mutant beasts, even the Demon Tribe included. This leads to a situation in Africa unlike that in Cathay and India, where humans and mutant beasts organize to combat Demon Fiends.

Various forces, big and small, battle incessantly: Demon Tribe against mutant beasts, mutant beasts against humans, humans against Demon Fiends, even mutant beasts against mutant beasts, humans against humans, Demon Fiends devouring Demon Fiends.

Everyone, every being, fights bitterly for survival, while the ambitions of various forces and powerful experts fuel the furnace continuously, like grease.

Humans’ shortsightedness, hatred, selfishness.

The brutality, animal nature, and territorial concept of mutant beasts.

The Demon Tribe’s laissez-faire attitude, lack of management, and disregard by the Demon Tribe high-level for the African continent.

Driving the African continent into even greater chaos.

The recent scene was a microcosm of the entire African continent!

...

Africa’s heat made Wen Yu quite uncomfortable.

Glancing at the high sun in the sky, Wen Yu slowly drifted down from Star’s body onto the ground.

Under his feet was scalding sandy soil, around him was dry and hot air. Influenced by the heat, Wen Yu even felt the activity level of Demonic Qi increase noticeably, the whole air filled with a stench that made Wen Yu frown in disgust.

However, business must proceed, and now, finding that ”strongest mutant creature” is the most important matter.

...

Flipping through the map in his hand, Wen Yu meticulously examined the details.

Although he handled a few distractions along the way, overall, he didn’t lose much time. Plus, without any attachments, Wen Yu’s goal was clear from the start—reach the target destination ASAP...

Here was near the target site—where the mutant creature was about to appear.

Soon,

but not now.

According to Star Praying’s prediction, the mutant beast’s appearance would be 28 days later, meaning Wen Yu still had a wait ahead.

However, Wen Yu wasn’t idle; quite the opposite, arriving a month in advance wasn’t without reason.

The location provided by Star Praying was in northern central Africa, a small dot on the map, but in reality, it covered an entire city.

Such a vast area, having Wen Yu blindly search was undoubtedly like finding a needle in a haystack—though the aura of a powerful mutant beast is noticeable, precisely because of its strength, it better conceals its scent, requiring no additional skill.

Much like Wen Yu himself, he lacked the skill to mask his aura but wherever he went, he wouldn’t automatically exude a terrifying energy fluctuation as deep as an abyss—which is of no use to him!

Wen Yu must set up surveillance early, striving to discover the mutant beast at once.

As for once it’s found...

The matter becomes simpler.

...

Gazing at the ground now turned to meat pulp, Wen Yu wryly shook his head.

Humans in Africa are truly scarce; a few perish in continuous warfare, and most have been taken by Lin Haifeng to join the Cathay army.

Riding Star all the way over, though seeing some human settlements en route, given the distance to the target site, upon arrival only this one human was found.

And he died.

In other words, Wen Yu now lacks a guide party.
