Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The inclusion of high-end combat power brings a transformative change to the conventional battlefield.

When the Demon Realm’s Gate first opened, it was only due to the presence of Tang Haofei that the various Human Race strongholds could continue to stand amidst the surging demonic tide. It was also because of the divine beasts with their diverse abilities that mutant beasts could continue to thrive on this land.

The defensive tactics of the New Hope Assembly Site were essentially king vs. king, general vs. general, soldier vs. soldier.

Although the gap between our soldiers and theirs was huge in this aspect, once the generals had dealt with their opponents, the mere soldiers could no longer stir up any trouble.

On the ground, Cyclops’s Violent Flame danced everywhere, the boundless black Devil Flame turned into overwhelming waves, directly shattering all the Demon Tribe’s offensives. Cyclops even had the energy to eat some of the more appealing Demon Beast Corpses to restore some strength and heal.

Always using the tail as an eye, the style is really poor.

In the sky, the Giant Dragon soared with wings spread, and a mere few dozen Three-Headed Demon Dragons — their leader had already been seized and devoured, let alone these underdeveloped ”little ones.”

The combination of sharp fangs and Dragon Flame made Star invincible in this low-level battlefield, swiftly reclaiming air superiority over the New Hope Assembly Site.

In the distance, the turbulent demonic tide still showed no signs of retreating. For the Demon Tribe, these Level 5 troops, if they were obliterated, were no big loss.

As for Cyclops and Star, being able to eliminate more demon fiends meant more food and magic crystals and extra points for their leader (though Wen Yu didn’t care much about these things now), so why not?

However, Wen Yu, the direct beneficiary, who didn’t know how many points he accumulated, wasn’t happy at all at this moment.

...

The restless purple light surged endlessly, containing the forces of corrosion and Soul, transforming into all the world’s evils, as if trying to drag Wen Yu into an infinite abyss.

The calm darkness energy seemed to have its own life, expanding like flowing water, calm yet resilient, immense and indestructible.

The collision of purple light and darkness stirred a violent might, and all demon fiends entering the energy clash turned to debris.

A purple light flickered suddenly, instantly arriving in front of Wen Yu, clinging to his arm like a snake, then transforming into an indestructible blade, swiftly slicing towards Wen Yu’s right arm.

With a ”clang”, the Black Light, like armor, blocked the attack outside the body. The seemingly trivial attack caused Wen Yu’s Soul to oscillate.

An unexpected wave of nausea spread, Wen Yu frowned, feeling a blur before his eyes — a Soul Attack.

The purple light contained a Soul Attack akin to a Soul Strike, making it indeed difficult for Wen Yu to handle.

Facing the slightly weaker purple energy wave, Wen Yu let out a deep breath.

What exactly is this creature...

...

After the Catastrophe Ancient Tree collapsed and the purple-skinned monster was birthed, the newborn purple-skinned monster absorbed all the remnants of the Catastrophe Ancient Tree, augmenting itself with immense energy. At this moment, solely in terms of energy, the purple-skinned monster was already on par with Wen Yu.

However, despite lacking a Soul, the purple-skinned monster managed to use abilities similar to a Soul Strike. The incessantly roaring purple aura not only contained a far superior level of corrosive power but also interwove with omnipresent Soul Attacks.

Earlier, Wen Yu had used his size advantage to restraint the Catastrophe Ancient Tree, but turning back now, he was being countered by what the Catastrophe Ancient Tree birthed.

How ironic...

Thinking of this, Wen Yu silently mobilized the energy within his body. The roaring darkness energy surged once again, rapidly extinguishing the boundless purple light.

Though the purple-skinned monster was strong, it did have weaknesses.

Without the enormous regenerative power of the Catastrophe Ancient Tree, the current purple-skinned monster completely relied on its inherent energy to fight Wen Yu. But energy would eventually run out.

Each time the purple light surged, the body of the purple-skinned monster would slightly shrink — the energy source supporting the purple-skinned monster’s attacks was indeed its own body.

It could be imagined that once the purple-skinned monster had burned all its body, it would mark the end of the battle.

However, it would take a little time.

...

The brief yet intense offensive and defensive battle at the New Hope Assembly Site naturally couldn’t escape Wen Yu’s eyes. The missiles and even an occasional nuclear weapon in the sky provided some negligible support for the defense of the New Hope Assembly Site.

Regarding the current battle situation, Wen Yu had no immediate solutions, but fortunately, the timely return of Cyclops and Star established a successful defense baseline for the assembly site.

Thanks to this, Wen Yu had the leisure to engage in a meaningless battle of attrition with the purple-skinned monster before him.

With each brief contact between the darkness and purple light, a slight portion of the purple light would be annihilated — partly due to the collision’s energy loss, and partly due to the inherent devouring power of the darkness energy.

Besides exchanging a few words at the beginning, the purple-skinned monster remained silent throughout the battle, simply radiating purple light like a machine, leaving Wen Yu yearning for communication at a loss, as if facing a hedgehog, unable to initiate a conversation.

”Can’t you speak?”

”Isn’t your name Demon Spirit?”

”Let’s chat. You see, you can’t beat me. Why not put down the violence, and discuss the folk customs of the two worlds, exchanging some experiences? Constant fighting and killing is not good.”

Wen Yu, while gathering dark energy, tossed out various trash talk — although everyone knew laying down the knife was impossible, not even in death, if he could gain any intelligence, however trivial, from this so-called Demon Spirit, it would be worth it for Wen Yu.

Unfortunately, the purple-skinned monster was determined to kill and had no intent to chat with Wen Yu. It just continuously wielded purple light to oppose Wen Yu’s darkness.

Until the end of its life...

...

”Boom.”

The purple light monster, already half its former size, acted decisively at a bad turn and self-destructed!

A devastating explosion sounded from where the purple-skinned monster was, a purple mushroom cloud as massive as a nuclear blast rose sharply. Simultaneously, the remaining purple energy melted like snow, dissolving swiftly into the air, undetectable anymore.

Spreading his senses widely, feeling the complete disappearance of the purple-skinned monster with not a trace left, Wen Yu withdrew the Black Light from his body silently. Yet, there was no joy on the man’s face for winning the battle.

The appearance of the Catastrophe Ancient Tree was fine, but since the emergence of the purple-skinned monster, Wen Yu continually felt a fantastic sense of oddity.

A feeling, as if being watched by a Shark...

”What exactly is it?”
