Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

It’s been 23 days since Wen Yu arrived on the African Continent.

There are only 3 days left until the Demon Tribe launches their full assault on the New Hope Assembly Place.

There are 5 days left until the birth of the ”strongest mutant life form” as foretold by the Star Praying.

As time marches closer, Wen Yu’s goal is about to be achieved, yet the entire African Continent is shrouded in a strange atmosphere.

A journey of a hundred miles is half completed at ninety; the closer you get to the end, the greater the crisis and challenge!

Anyone with keen eyes can see that war on the African Continent is on the brink. In this situation, Wen Yu no longer ventures out to hunt demons—when big prey cannot be caught, killing more low-grade demonic creatures holds little significance.

Wen Yu only stays quietly within the New Hope Assembly Place—waiting for the imminent decisive battle.

Unlike Wen Yu’s quietness.

At this time, the New Hope Assembly Place and the Demon Tribe appear exceptionally busy.

...

Within the New Hope Assembly Place, countless mutant beasts are running back and forth, either transporting supplies or digging trenches and holes; a scene of busy activity, slightly chaotic.

The Death Harbinger Raven perched on the head of the Barbarous Tyrant looked down, and couldn’t help but curl its lips. Looking at the human standing next to it, it couldn’t help but speak: ”What’s the use?”

”Hm?”

Ray didn’t understand. The Death Harbinger Raven had to explain again: ”I mean, having them handle these supplies, dig these trenches, build these walls—what’s the point? You don’t seriously believe that these tricks could pose any real hindrance to the Demon Tribe, do you?”

”Indeed, I do not believe that these tricks can cause any real hindrance to the Demon Tribe.”

Ray was straightforward, casually lighting a cigarette and taking a heavy drag.

The faint smoke circled Ray’s face, and instead of directly answering the Death Harbinger Raven’s question, he posed a somewhat unrelated query: ”How many of these mutant beasts here do you think will survive?”

”Probably less than one-thousandth.”

This was a lie—in such a large-scale battle, with such extreme disparity in forces, the mutant beasts who could survive this war were very few indeed...

Even divine beasts had become akin to cannon fodder, let alone ordinary mutant beasts!

”So, you understand clearly, and the mutant beasts down there don’t see it?”

Somewhat mocking words almost provoked the Death Harbinger Raven to flare up, but considering Ray’s status, it suppressed its anger decisively.

”Keeping them busy keeps their minds off random thoughts, otherwise, huh.”

”The New Hope Assembly Place might just implode even before the Demon Tribe attacks!”

The Death Harbinger Raven flapped its wings twice and perched back on the head of the Barbarous Tyrant.

One has to admit, at this stage, human intelligence—or rather, experience—is far superior to that of the mutant beasts.

...

In the dim burrow, rustling sounds emerged.

After a while, Luo Luo emerged from a freshly dug pit, covered in dirt, knocking off the dust with two antennae on its forehead.

”Luo Luo, it’s time to eat.”

The voice came from Level Three Soldier Ant Blackhead who had just crawled out from another pit—a robust body several times larger than Luo Luo’s, sharp mandibles, and pointed ant legs, exuding majesty and might!

Ants, before mutation, followed an extremely rigid hierarchical structure! Ant Queen, male ant, soldier ant, worker ant.

Luo Luo, being the Ant Queen, should have enjoyed a life of servitude or acted solely as a breeding machine. However, after mutation, the Ant Tribe’s internal social structure has drastically changed.

Mutation enhances the intelligence of mutant creatures, and with intelligence and formidable power, why should the lower-level Ant Tribe still perform monotonous, tedious, repetitive tasks?

”Rebellion” naturally occurs.

Luo Luo’s ant colony became a casualty of such rebellion...

Having gone through this, Luo Luo profoundly understood that the world had long turned upside down, and it was no longer the supreme being within the tribe; instead, due to its large belly, it became the weakest in terms of power and status among the Mutant Ant Tribe.

But it doesn’t really matter; even the weak have their own way of survival. As a mutant Ant Queen, Luo Luo still has an unrivaled role.

For instance...

”Luo Luo, call the tribe to come eat!”

Being the strongest among the mutant ants, Blackhead did not regard the former difference in identity and decisively issued a command to Luo Luo.

”Okay...”

Its antennae collided, a strange signal emitted from Luo Luo’s antennae; after a while, rustling sounds echoed.

Balls of ants swarmed from the various burrows, continuously gathering beside Luo Luo. Seeing so many unmutated tribe members, Luo Luo waved its antennae, expressing a sense of joy.

During the days at the New Hope Assembly Place, Luo Luo was not only responsible for digging but also for gathering the unmutated ant colonies from various places—they too were Earth’s life forms and naturally considered part of the Level Lock.

Bringing them together can somewhat delay the Demon Tribe’s speed in breaking the Level Lock.

Moreover, in certain instances, quantity can complement quality, and for these mindless insects, a harsh social hierarchy makes them the most outstanding labor and the most fearless warriors—although no one really values the combat abilities of these ant colonies...
