Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The marked point on the map isn’t small, but judging by the size of the recently mutated crow flock, this ”not small” place can’t accommodate many forces!

Just like big fish eat small fish and small fish eat shrimp, during the months of chaos, small forces have long since disappeared, leaving only large groups as strong as the crow flock.

Therefore, according to the Death Harbinger Raven, there are only four forces in this area: three large mutant beast populations and one human settlement!

There are occasional minor conflicts between the forces, but generally, they coexist peacefully. This leads to a shortage of food. The Death Harbinger Raven has also told Wen Yu that its flock has not had a full meal for a long time. But the territory is fixed, crossing the boundary will spark disputes, and any misstep could lead to war...

In summary, in the intelligence provided by the Death Harbinger Raven, more than half of it consists of it ranting to Wen Yu—complaining about its own dirty and messy territory, complaining that its kin do not understand its hardships, complaining about the struggles of survival. It rambles on endlessly. It must be said that crows really do talk a lot!

And Wen Yu, unraveling the threads, managed to sort out the clues—among the three major mutant beast forces, the group led by the Wilderness Butcher to the north is the strongest.

”Wilderness Butcher? Such a domineering name?”

”It’s just a jackal, don’t all who mix around give themselves a mighty nickname?”

After saying this, it shot Wen Yu a disdainful glance.

”We don’t have this saying over there...”

The east is where the Death Harbinger Raven’s Phoenix Mountain is located—actually just a small hill with a little woods.

The west is where the territory of the Barbarous Tyrant is—a divine beast type giant wild ox. At this point, Wen Yu is too lazy to mock these ”mighty” monikers.

The south, however, is the area’s only human settlement, reportedly with a population of about 100,000, making it the largest settlement nearby. There are quite a few masters inside, but none capable of contending with a divine beast type.

The reason these humans can still survive in this land mainly relies on towering city walls and various defensive mechanical tools.

Overall, the strength of this human point is the weakest. But the remaining three mutant beast groups have no desire or thought to remove this human stronghold—it’s a matter of losing eight hundred to kill a thousand enemies, which no creature would choose to do unless necessary.

Wen Yu had grasped most of the intelligence, seeing the Death Harbinger Raven sprawled on the ground, its bird mouth incessantly spewing useless words, Wen Yu directly increased the output of his Soul Power.

For a long while, the noise finally subsided in his ears.

Not far away, the Death Harbinger Raven had fallen completely asleep.

...

”Meow.”

Seeing his boss had gotten the information, Victor strutted over in elegant feline steps. Behind him, Cyclops and Star stopped their pretentious play and closely followed.

Two divine beast types plus Cyclops, who is not inferior to a divine beast type. Given the Death Harbinger Raven’s Perception Ability as a divine beast type, Wen Yu really feared that if the three little ones approached, it would arouse an uncontrollable instinct of terror in the Death Harbinger Raven—that would not be conducive to extracting information.

After all, compared to his three soul pets, the Death Harbinger Raven’s strength was too weak...

”Sllrp.”

Victor extended his crimson tongue, gently licking the small crow on the ground. The sleeping little crow completely relaxed without any vigilance, only making ”caw caw” sounds as if talking in its sleep.

”Stop it, it tickles...”

With that, it fluttered its wings a couple of times, turned over, and then continued to sleep.

”Does it smell good?”

Cyclops, beside it, stared with eyes full of unspeakable greedy weirdness at the little crow.

Victor ignored Cyclops, but Star extended his tongue to lick the little crow’s head: ”It doesn’t seem tasty, kind of sour...”

”I like sour, roasting it would make it even tastier.”

Cyclops licked his teeth, saliva uncontrollably dripping as the interference of Soul Power made the little crow feel as though immersed in warm water, greatly diminishing its alertness to the outside. Poor little crow was completely unaware it was surrounded by three monsters more than ten times stronger than itself, who were discussing whether it was tasty or not.

Seeing his three soul pets acting like villains surrounding a ”frail girl” and debating how to cook this completely defenseless prey, Wen Yu couldn’t help but interrupt their ”fantasy.”

”Alright, you guys stop messing around. This one you can’t randomly eat; I have big plans for it!”

Hearing their boss, the three soul pets reluctantly stepped back half a step.

Wen Yu stood up and walked directly to the Death Harbinger Raven, looking at the relaxed small crow in front of him, then at the three soul pets by his side, already with a rough plan in mind.

”Cyclops, to the north, there’s a guy called the Wilderness Butcher, uh, it’s a jackal leading a whole pack of jackals. Go subdue them.”

”Subdue?”

Cyclops grew interested, immediately sitting upright: ”What do you mean?”

”Just handle it; just don’t kill too many. I have big plans for these guys! Understand?”

”Woof woof, woof woof...”

Cyclops eagerly barked twice.

”Victor, you head west. There’s a big wild ox, a divine beast type, leading a group. Go subdue them.”

”Meow.”

Victor nodded, indicating understanding.

”Star, once this crow wakes up, follow it and subdue its flock.”

Star also nodded in agreement.

After issuing missions to the three soul pets, Wen Yu could not help but add: ”I need these mutant beasts to help me find something in over twenty days, your future partners, so expand the flocks as much as possible. You handle the specifics, and let me know through the soul contract if anything comes up.”

”This is your first time going on a solo mission, do it well and don’t let me down.”

”When the time comes, I just want these guys to cover every corner of this area! Got it?”

”Got it, boss!”

All three soul pets nodded, with Star looking earnest, Victor still nonchalant but reliable, while the most infuriating was Cyclops!

As soon as it had free rein, Cyclops’ eyes darted around mischievously, up to some curious mischief.

Wen Yu gave Cyclops a firm kick: ”Especially you, do it well! Do it well, and the boss will give you a holiday!”
