Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Perhaps the two hidden sentries also felt awkward when they saw Wen Yu frown, looking ”not very pleased,” and they exchanged a glance.

One of them pointed to a large door on the left: ”Sir, that’s the residence of the deputy leader of the Ultimate Force Team.”

Wen Yu looked up; the iron door was engraved with a symbol of 2, and to the right of the door stood a statue in a 1:1 scale with Wen Yu. Seeing this, Wen Yu immediately turned his head to look to the right.

Facing Wen Yu’s residence was also an iron door, with the number 1 prominently displayed on it. Additionally, there stood a statue identical in physique and appearance to Tang Haofei.

”This one.”

Wen Yu pointed at the statue.

”Does everyone here have one?”

”No, they don’t.”

The hidden sentry’s response was exceptionally certain: ”Only Officer Tang Haofei and Officer Wen Yu have one!”

Wen Yu’s face was expressionless, but deep down, he felt a chill—a second personality of Tang Haofei that really wasn’t endearing...

What era is this, still playing this game of personal worship! Doesn’t he see who attends the meetings!

Adding a statue just for him seemed like respect for Wen Yu, but those who knew Wen Yu well were aware that he wasn’t ambitious and didn’t care for others’ admiration. The statue that appeared to honor Wen Yu actually placed him in opposition to all the other members of the Ultimate Force Team except Tang Haofei—why does he have one? I don’t?

Even if others could consider the gap in strength, even if they wouldn’t say it outright, nor dare to, they’d definitely feel uneasy in their hearts.

Better to have less worry than to have unease due to inequality; Wen Yu understood this principle in a past life...

...

Ignoring the two hidden sentries behind him, Wen Yu walked directly to his own door, his right hand shimmering with black light, and the dense power of darkness immediately enveloped his statue.

The ”sizzle, sizzle” sound of corrosion quickly erupted and then subsided. When the darkness dissipated, the statue had completely vanished.

The two hidden sentries glanced at each other, both remaining silent until Wen Yu waved a hand, and then they took their leave— they could also see that Wen Yu wasn’t in a good mood.

Pushing open the steel door, Wen Yu stepped into the room.

The room’s setup was relatively clean and tidy, and the ventilation was fairly good. For Wen Yu, who spent his days in the wilds, it was certainly a livable place.

Summoning three soul pets, Wen Yu let them frolic freely in the room and lay down on the bed, though his mind was racing.

Wen Yu had to consider one matter now—if Tang Haofei’s second personality really gained control of the body, what would his attitude be towards Wen Yu?

Wen Yu, being the only person in the world capable of resisting Tang Haofei.

Coexistence?

Or inevitable conflict?

From the current behavior pattern of Tang Haofei’s second personality, this issue had already become a focal point for Wen Yu!

...

His mind was in turmoil, unable to unravel a coherent thread.

What he initially thought unrelated to himself had now become a major issue he must resolve.

But how to resolve it?

When the opponent became Tang Haofei, it wasn’t merely a matter of how Wen Yu wanted to resolve it—whether he could win became the greatest dilemma.

Going over his assets in detail and comparing them to Tang Haofei’s skills and displayed strength, Wen Yu deeply felt the difficulty of the situation.

Until a knocking sound shook him out of his thoughts.

...

The door was made from some unknown material, resembling the type Wen Yu had seen in the Heavenly Palace, that kind which could isolate perception abilities—following the Heavenly Palace trip, Cathay had already turned their findings into results.

On one hand, this material could guarantee personal privacy, as those recruited into the Ultimate Force Team by Tang Haofei were either Sequence-class or powerful experts, who paid more attention to privacy.

But on the other hand, it had drawbacks, such as when Wen Yu was contemplating in his room, failing to notice the presence of a visitor outside.

Pressing the issues concerning Tang Haofei back into his mind, Wen Yu got up and opened the door.

”Creak...”

The steel door emitted a harsh sound, and outside stood a familiar figure entering Wen Yu’s sight.

Qin Tian dressed in all black, exuding a faint scent of the sea, a large pile of food and drink in hand.

Seeing Wen Yu, Qin Tian shook the food in his hand and said with a grin, ”Long time no see, want a drink?”

Seeing a familiar face, Wen Yu also smiled and nodded, stepping aside to clear the threshold: ”Let’s have a drink!”

...

Meeting old companions is always pleasant, but this doesn’t apply to Qin Tian and Wen Yu.

Strictly speaking, the relationship between Wen Yu and Qin Tian was somewhat complicated. Originally comrades, allies, but with the advent of the Sea King control plan, and Wen Yu’s abandonment of Qin Tian, along with Qin Tian’s own choices, their relationship indeed seemed extraordinarily complex.

The anger of betrayal?

Wen Yu didn’t feel it, Qin Tian hadn’t betrayed anyone. He merely made his choice—a choice loyal to his own heart.

The guilt towards Qin Tian?

Also absent, Wen Yu similarly made the most beneficial choice for himself—a selfish choice, yet also another kind of self-preservation.
