Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Jaydin, a Peak Level 5 professionist, former member of the Indian God Eagle Special Forces, now a member of the Sequence Two Logistics Special Ops Company.

Strictly speaking, when he first received this appointment, Jaydin’s heart was thrilled—after all, it’s Sequence Number 2! Standing atop the pinnacle of this world’s professionists!

To fight alongside Sequence Number 2 is undoubtedly a great honor for any professionist.

Excited, Jaydin chose to overlook the word ”logistics,” and thus began a true logistics career...

Ahead, intense screams and beastly roars resounded endlessly. Even with Jaydin’s Peak Level 5 perception ability, he could only see three blurred giant shadows darting back and forth amid the endless Demon Group. Each time a shadow flickered, it left behind a huge and sinister mark among the Demon Group, like a long and deep ravine, inflicting indelible scars on this fully-formed Demon Tribe Army ahead!

Blood splattered everywhere, and the massive killing intent and the miserable condition of the Demon Army made Jaydin twitch his mouth twice hard.

Even more terrifying were the scattered flying limbs and organs—not that Jaydin had never seen such cruel scenes before, but all these needed to be cleaned up later and piled into a corpse mountain for that big dog to enjoy.

That mud.

That slickness.

That smell.

Suddenly, Jaydin regretted joining this absurd ”Sequence Two Logistics Special Ops Company.”

...

”Everyone, prepare for battle!”

The loud shout from the second squad leader rang out, and the military quality made Jaydin immediately tense up his nerves.

Then...

”Move out!”

The fifty-member second squad quickly rushed forward, picking up all the magic crystals and Demon Fiend limbs larger than a palm along the way, delivering them to the designated location.

There, a gray giant dog, a black Giant Dragon, and a black big cat were licking the blood off their claws, occasionally eating some ready-made food on the ground.

The tens of thousands of Demon Fiends originally here had already been completely slain.

A simple and efficient slaughter.

After the slaughter, there was the cleanup operation—which was precisely the combat mission of the Special Ops Company like Jaydin...

What kind of combat mission is this?

The gray giant dog, upon seeing the gradually piling corpse mountain, showed a greedy look in its eyes, which startled Jaydin. Fortunately, after 15 days of combat, Jaydin had become accustomed to the gaze of the gray giant dog called Cyclops—every time it saw food, Cyclops would look like this.

Until most of the Demon Fiend corpses were gathered, Jaydin saw Cyclops open its large mouth, its tongue forked like a snake but much thicker, agilely sweeping across its cheek. Three rows of dense sharp teeth were exposed in the air, their shimmering cold light sending a shiver down Jaydin’s spine...

”It wasn’t like this before.”

Soft murmurs sounded from beside him but were met with a silencing look from the squad leader.

But all fifty people present knew that during these fifteen days of combat, the form of this dog had undergone quite apparent changes as it devoured more flesh—the teeth had become more numerous and dense, like a meat grinder, able to easily tear apart Demon Fiends’ scale armor and skin. Once caught by this large mouth, no matter how strong or ferocious the Demon Fiend was, dismemberment was inevitable!

The once ordinary tongue had also become bizarre, as Jaydin once saw this tongue stretch ten meters out of its mouth and directly strangle a Peak Level 5 Bull Head Barbarian Demon like a python!

The true terror came next!

Jaydin watched as Cyclops opened its large mouth, the jaws separating at least 180°, then bit into the corpse mountain. The continuous sound of sucking echoed as Cyclops’s belly swelled and contracted, quickly digesting the corpse mountain in front of it. In no time, the massive corpse mountain was reduced by a tenth!

It wasn’t this fast before...

Jaydin thought, then glanced at Cyclops’s stomach—inside, even more drastic changes were occurring!

During the fifteen days of ”fighting side by side,” Jaydin had developed some of his own thoughts on this bizarre order—the soul pet of Lord Sequence Number 2 had the ability to evolve by devouring flesh.

However, like this...

Disgusting?

Terrifying?

No...

It should be said to be bizarre yet powerful!

...

Cyclops’s feeding was quite rapid, and with the evolution of its teeth, tongue, and even oral structure and digestive system, the speed of devouring flesh was much faster—even the recent abundance of food first triggered changes in the organs and body structures related to eating.

Of course, this was precisely what Cyclops itself wished to see—the faster the eating speed, the faster the growth! With ample food supply, the Limit Breakthrough Level ability, Great Feast, had already begun to show its true colors!

Atop the small hill, only the sound of Cyclops swallowing remained, and within an hour, the corpse mountain before Cyclops had vanished without a trace—not just flesh, but even bones, hair, and scale armor had been completely devoured by Cyclops!

”Grrt...”

It let out a deep burp, yet the just-filled sense of fullness quickly faded until it disappeared altogether. Cyclops knew it was still ravenously hungry.

The change in its stomach had turned Cyclops into a ferocious beast that could never be fully satisfied!

So, Cyclops gave a look to the second squad leader, who immediately understood and pointed east.

”56.3 kilometers out that way, there’s a Devil Army with over 50,000 Demon Fiends resting, led by a Peak Level 5 demon spawn.”

As soon as the voice fell, the gale erupted, and the three giant beasts vanished.

”Phew!”

Fifty Special Ops team members almost simultaneously let out a breath—the three soul pets of Sequence Number 2 had put too much pressure on them.

...

”Watching makes me hungry.”

A familiar teammate beside him made a small joke, but it was met with a slew of synchronized side-eyes—Cyclops’s feeding scenes weren’t pleasant to watch, and could even be described as disgusting! Although the Special Ops Squad handpicked by the Indian military wouldn’t vomit on the spot, nausea was unavoidable.

”Hey, don’t say that, let’s go, by the time we get there, it might all be over.”

The squad leader ordered, and the fifty-member squad immediately took action.

”Honestly, I’m kind of envious of the first squad. I heard that Lord Sequence Number 2 also needs Demon Flesh and Blood, but absorbs it with a vine-like thing. Not only is the task easier, it’s not as nasty. Plus, you may not know, I heard they say Lord Sequence Number 2 is especially handsome!”

No need to say it, a female warrior, not very good-looking.

Hearing the words ”Sequence Number 2,” the originally quiet team became rowdy again, with a large group of gossipers chattering nonstop.

”By the way, Captain, do you know the target of the first squad?”

”Yesterday, I seemed to hear the captain of the first squad say that Lord Sequence Number 2 will be heading to the Southern Region in a couple of days.”

Southern Region, the general term for southern India, still, when India is engulfed by a demon plague, this term would only be used to describe one place...

After a while, Jaydin tremulously said, ”Isn’t... isn’t that where the Demon Army’s headquarters are...”

”Yes, apparently Lord Sequence Number 2 has other pressing matters and has decided to directly level the Demon Tribe’s headquarters in India. As far as I know, Lord Sequence Number 2’s power is said to be stronger than that of his several soul pets.”

Jaydin fell silent, unable to comprehend such power.

The squad leader heavily patted Jaydin’s shoulder.

”So, pray for Lord Sequence Number 2, everyone. If Lord Sequence Number 2 succeeds, India’s demon plague will also be considered over!”
