Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Ten days.

Not long, not short.

After chatting with Qin Min, Wen Yu didn’t ask what the Ultimate Force Team did, nor did he ask what Tang Haofei was doing, where he was, or what the meeting was about.

Those things weren’t important.

At least in Wen Yu’s eyes, they weren’t important at all.

Call him heartless or say he lacks a sense of responsibility, Wen Yu always does things based on his preferences—why get stronger?

Isn’t it just to be free and do what you like?

So, Wen Yu’s thoughts were extremely simple.

Attend a meeting, return a favor, and then everyone goes home to their own families; simple, quick, and without worrying about future consequences.

Honestly, it’s only because of Tang Haofei; otherwise, Wen Yu would have rushed to the African Continent to search diligently for the traces of his planned Soul Pet No. 6.

As they say, actions speak louder than words. Tang Haofei helped him a lot at the Heavenly Palace, and even Tang Haofei’s issues are related to Wen Yu in many ways. Attending a meeting and sitting for a few hours isn’t difficult for Wen Yu.

After agreeing to this, Wen Yu and Qin Min sat on the ground eating hotpot and drinking beer, enjoying a moment of poetic analogy as the sun rose.

After eating and drinking, Qin Min said he had preparations to make and left first—compared to these high-level military combatants, especially someone like Qin Min, who eats on the state’s dime and follows Tang Haofei’s lead, Wen Yu seemed to have nothing to do.

Swallowing the last duck wing, Wen Yu brushed off his pants and headed into India—ten days, wasting them would be a pity. Fortunately, the demons in India were still plentiful enough for Wen Yu to sweep through.

...

Strictly speaking, this was Wen Yu’s third intervention in the Indian battlefield—the first round of fifteen days massacres had caused the Demon Tribe to tighten their defense lines.

The second round directly raided the Demon Tribe’s base camp. By then, the Demon Realm’s Gate had been sealed, so there was no large-scale reinforcement from the Demon Tribe.

This third round was simply tying up loose ends.

After consulting with the Indian Government, the original Sequence Two Logistics Special Ops Unit was reassembled to clean up the aftermath behind Wen Yu, allowing him to have leisure time.

In this way, a few days later, when Wen Yu stopped, there was no longer any large-scale Devil Army on the Indian battlefield.

Under Wen Yu’s power, or rather, due to the Demon Tribe High-Level’s selective abandonment, the crisis of the demon plague in India was temporarily alleviated.

Wen Yu waved his sleeve and silently retreated, hiding his accomplishments and fame…

...

On the eighth day after parting with Qin Min, Wen Yu once again called Qin Min.

Qin Min said via the call that the venue had been set up and informed Wen Yu of the meeting’s location.

Taking out a map, he found the coordinates Qin Min had given. When Wen Yu arrived at the meeting spot, he discovered that he was in front of a massive cave.

The entrance was marked with scratches, which instantly revealed to Wen Yu that this cave was clearly man-made—high-level professionists were like humanoid beasts, easily boring a cave through the mountains.

Similarly, creating a cave as a temporary base was certainly more concealed than building a fortress there.

When Wen Yu reached the cave entrance, the bushes on either side suddenly rustled, and then two soldiers in Cathay military uniforms leisurely emerged.

”Greetings, Officer!”

Back in Cathay, Wen Yu had temporarily joined the military, so the title of officer was appropriate—at least to Wen Yu’s ears, ”Officer” sounded much better than ”Sir”.

Nodding to the two hidden sentries, Wen Yu needed to say nothing more, as they led the way into the cave.

...

The cave was extensive, with good airflow and relatively dry, showing that Qin Min had put a lot of thought into it—after all, it was the first meeting of the Ultimate Force Team, and it should at least look the part.

As he walked along, every so often there was another smaller cave, already fitted with doors, likely providing temporary accommodation for participants.

Wen Yu also noticed that the cave occasionally featured roughly styled stone sculptures. Qin Min seemed to have some artistic flair, as these sculptures matched well with the cave and, to some extent, disguised its dilapidation—everyone chosen by Tang Haofei for the Ultimate Force Team was exceptional, either serving in their countries’ militaries or wandering independently, and people with such power must live in luxury. Having them live in a cave, even if temporarily, just didn’t seem right.

Admiring the sculptures along the path, which presented images of evil spirits, demons, and mostly divine beasts, Wen Yu even saw a miniaturized sculpture of Star among them.

Until he reached the deepest part of the cave.

...

The path had ended, bringing Wen Yu into a giant space the size of a football field, containing only one massive decoration under the dim surrounding lights, standing out starkly…

Wen Yu couldn’t help but rub his forehead because the sole ”decoration” was a huge ten-meter-tall human statue—depicting Tang Haofei in vivid detail.

Perhaps perceiving Wen Yu’s embarrassment—after all, seeing a ”good friend’s” sculpted likeness in such a grand form would indeed invoke a strong sense of awkwardness.

The two guiding sentries offered an explanation: ”This thing was personally ordered by Officer Tang Haofei, who said it commemorates the birth of the Ultimate Force Team…”

The explanation grew weaker and more hesitant, ending with a nervous glance at Wen Yu.

After all, as children raised under the red flag, such mystical scenes, akin to a cult, naturally triggered a deep shame from within the human psyche.

And Tang Haofei? Let’s just say the cult leader, or ”Great Evil God”?

Wen Yu felt a bit of regret; Tang Haofei’s antics had turned the Ultimate Force Team into a chaotic, mismatched mess!

Yet when Wen Yu pondered it, he couldn’t help but furrow his brow; it was Tang Haofei’s second personality that had concocted the Ultimate Force Team— Tang Haofei, whom Wen Yu knew, wouldn’t do such bizarre things, no, wouldn’t even establish this Ultimate Force Team!

From this giant sculpture alone, Wen Yu could surmise what Tang Haofei’s second personality was like.

Vain.

Self-important.

And immensely ambitious!

Such a Tang Haofei, wielding the world’s most potent force, was bad news for anyone!

A shadow was cast over Wen Yu’s heart.
