Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The photo of Rahal was placed in front of Wen Yu by Lin Na.

The photo was somewhat blurry, but Rahal’s appearance was still clear—six years old, an innocent age. Although his skin was a bit dark due to his ethnicity, overall, he was a cute little boy.

However, this cute boy was surrounded by 16 men in suits!

They seemed like bodyguards, but from their formation, they had created a complete and solid human cage, tightly trapping Rahal within.

”It looks like protection, but it’s actually imprisonment. Well, I should say it’s both. Because we captured this photo, and after further investigation, we discovered some incredible things.”

Wen Yu nodded, indicating Lin Na to continue.

”This child, how should I put it...”

Speaking of Rahal, Lin Na’s expression seemed troubled.

”He obtained a special occupation. We couldn’t investigate the name or characteristics of this occupation, but within the Indian Government Army, he’s called a deity.”

”A deity?”

Wen Yu raised his eyebrows.

This word represents mystery and power. However, the spread of compulsory education has made people not pay much attention to the words ’deity’ – even in India, a country with a strong religious atmosphere.

Wen Yu doesn’t believe that the high-ranking officials of the Indian Government Army are fanatics who value faith above all else.

”Yes, deity.”

Lin Na’s tone was full of certainty.

…

In a dark alley, two figures in black robes hurried along and soon arrived in front of a shabby, dilapidated inn.

”This is the place, right?”

A clear and gentle voice sounded, but the responder’s tone was somewhat odd.

”Yes...this is...Lord Dirang...”

The tone was not fluent, stammering, lacking the intonation of a normal person’s speech, only mumbling like sleep-talking.

”Thank you very much, King.”

Dirang beamed and thanked him, striding into the inn.

…

”Hello, I’m here to find a child.”

The gentle tone, paired with a face that wasn’t handsome but at least not unattractive, made Dirang seem like a courteous gentleman, making refusal difficult.

However.

”Get out, get out, get out! If you’re looking for a child, you should go to the welfare center across the street!”

The burly boss, looking fierce, waved his large hand like a fan impatiently, as if shooing away flies.

Listening to the boss’s steady heartbeat and looking at his eyes that didn’t seem to be pretending, Dirang chuckled softly.

”Have you been controlled...”

Then, with a ”bang,” the burly boss’s body immediately fell to the ground.

Dirang slowly withdrew his right hand and turned to look at Wang Chenglin.

”Lead the way. It seems the child’s power has gone a little out of control.”

…

The inn’s layout was already simple, with a completely illogical layout and rough partitions, dividing it into small individual rooms.

Under the guidance of Wang Chenglin, the two walked along the narrow passageway inside. The chaotic noises along the way made Dirang frown deeply.

This was no place for a child.

Until they reached a wooden door at the end, Wang Chenglin stepped aside, making room for Dirang.

”Thud, thud-thud.”

A long and two short knocking sounds were heard, yet there was no sound from inside.

Until a minute later, the rusty door hinge creaked open, and the scene inside the room came into Dirang’s view.

Then, Dirang saw the dazzling starry sky!

”Rahal, I’m here to take you home.”

Dirang said, then lowered his head, as if afraid his eyes would desecrate the sanctity in front of him.

Until the familiar weight pressed on Dirang’s neck.

A pair of small hands gently tugged on Dirang’s ears.

”Dirang, take me home.”

…

”When we sent the information back to our country, they might have used certain means to get more detailed target information. The high-levels ordered us to bring Rahal back.”

”However, for some reason, countries like America, Russia, and others also heard about Rahal. Different forces started openly and covertly competing, making the situation a mess, and we didn’t complete our mission.”

”Until a while ago, the internal turmoil in India erupted, and actions by various foreign agents made the already chaotic Indian situation even more chaotic. Then, in the chaos, Rahal disappeared...”

Hearing this, Wen Yu slowly tightened his brow.

The mission was only to pick up people, not to find them.

”Just the day before yesterday, we already found Rahal’s whereabouts. This is actually the main reason the military invited you. For us, finding someone isn’t difficult, but getting them out is a bigger problem.”

”The person was found by Major Wang Chenglin, who then reported to military headquarters, and they decided to dispatch powerful experts to provide support.”

”But at this critical moment, Major Wang Chenglin had an accident, and he was captured by the Rebel Army.”

”Hmm.”

A nasal sound neither light nor heavy was heard, then Wen Yu put down his coffee, shifted his position, and looked at Lin Na, signaling her to continue.

Lin Na gritted her teeth, her face unsightly as she said.

”Just two hours ago, Wang Chenglin was controlled by Dirang and took Rahal away. Now, we’ve lost Rahal’s exact location.”

…

The work of a spy, especially after the apocalypse, has become more difficult.

A plethora of bizarre abilities rendered the training spies received useless – Sequence Number 83 obtaining the means to control humans isn’t a difficult thing.

This is the fundamental reason for the renewed complications in the mission.

”So, you’re saying, now I not only bear the work of picking someone up but also have to help you find someone?”

Wen Yu’s inquiry was neither accusatory nor angry, just plain, but it was this plainness that indicated Wen Yu’s attitude towards the matter.

Finding people is not what I’m going to do. Wen Yu still held a grudge against the military; were it not for Tang Haofei asking a favor to get him involved, he wouldn’t be doing this for the military, even if he were foolish.

The favor granted to Wen Yu, he handled. What the favor didn’t include, don’t come looking for me!

So, the solution to this matter quickly became clear.

”You find the person, and then call me. Now, arrange a room for me and get me some food, I need to rest.”

After saying this, Wen Yu immediately walked out of the room without turning back.
