Chapter 448: Chapter 337: The Clash Begins, Blue Owl Knight Order

”Clang!”

An iron scythe flashed a crescent blade light in mid-air, slicing past the side of a battle helmet, finding a gap in the chain armor of the Cold Crow Halberd Warrior. Although it absorbed the blade’s shaft, it couldn’t block the crescent-like tip of the flying scythe.

The tip of the flying scythe pierced right through the chain armor, snagging onto the shoulder of this Cold Crow Halberd Warrior.

Like a hooked claw, it dug into his muscles and bones until the blade tip lodged against his shoulder blade.

[-62]

A damage of dozens of points appeared, and the flying scythe, attached with a chain, was nailed into his body.

Yet the Cold Crow Halberd Warrior didn’t even flinch; his face was as unyielding as a rock. Such a person either doesn’t feel pain or has an immense tolerance for it.

He reached out with one hand to grab the flying scythe, intending to pull it out of his shoulder just as the Blue Owl Cavalryman sped toward the village’s outskirts on his warhorse.

The chain instantly went taut, and a huge force yanked the Cold Crow Halberd Warrior ensnared by the flying scythe, dragging him away.

More than one Cold Crow Halberd Warrior was caught by the flying scythe.

Four Cold Crow Halberd Warriors in the front row were all snagged. They held onto the chain, feet braced, trying to resist being dragged, their struggle even cracking the stone bricks on the road.

Ultimately, the pulling power of the warhorse prevailed, causing the Cold Crow Halberd Warriors to lose their footing and get dragged away.

Without a foothold, even with a strength attribute of 32 points, the Halberd Warriors couldn’t exert it and were dragged away by the Blue Owl Cavalry.

After suffering a minor setback, this group of Blue Owl Cavalry opted to retreat, as the terrain disadvantage was too evident. Staying would only increase casualties.

The Church Heretic Warriors also chose not to pursue, as their numerical disadvantage meant pursuing wouldn’t rescue those four Cold Crow Halberd Warriors, and would instead leave them at a disadvantage without the favorable terrain and environment.

The vast, flat grasslands outside the village are the ultimate playing field for cavalry.

This group of Blue Owl Cavalry had several members shot by one or two arrows.

The shot regions quickly froze, which, though not causing heavy bleeding, clearly reduced bodily agility.

Before they left, in a retaliatory counterattack, they hooked four Cold Crow Halberd Warriors with the chain scythes—those flying scythes are their signature weapon.

The Blue Owl Knight Order belongs to a local free knight order, far less powerful than the National Knight Order. Their main combat force consists of Tier Three Blue Owl Cavalry and Tier Four Blue Owl Heavy Cavalry, numbering only a few thousand, and they operate primarily under the jurisdiction of the Lentax Giant City.

Local knight orders are not directly governed or mobilized by the kingdom and have a cooperative relationship with it.

They must comply with local laws, assist in local law enforcement, and earn bounties and local support by eliminating roving bandits and horse bandits.

With no fixed logistics, supplies, or military pay, they exist as a third-party knight order depending on the kingdom, managing their own equipment, training, and supplies.

Many similar self-built knight orders exist within the kingdom’s realm across the continent.

Powerful self-built knight orders even rival standard knight orders with chapels.

Weaker ones might not even have uniform equipment, let alone a cohesive cavalry system.

Among self-built knight orders, the Blue Owl Knight Order is of medium size and strength.

Their signature skill is the chain scythe, which is terrifyingly effective in raiding warfare.

They can directly hook enemy warriors and form chained cavalry formations, pairing in twos to link their scythes and create a 20-meter metallic barrier.

At high speeds, this barrier acts like a razor, sweeping aside infantry, and is equally effective against other cavalry units.

These scythes can be thrown to attack the vulnerable lower legs of enemy warhorses, reducing their mobility—a tactic very effective against cavalry.

Once cavalry loses mobility, their effectiveness decreases significantly.

Additionally, they can whirl the scythes at high speeds to form a blue barrier, deflecting distant attacks and damage.

A squadron of Blue Owl Cavalry had been operating near Boss Bang recently, and upon receiving the Dragon Eagle Knights’ aid request, they rushed over immediately.

Assisting kingdom forces in eliminating Church Heretics or rescuing villages and wiping out bandits can yield substantial rewards, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of dinars, depending on the task’s difficulty.

Meanwhile, another group of Blue Owl Cavalry is advancing from the northeast of the village, along its edge, searching for a path to enter.

This group opted to return by the same route, leaving Odu Village from the eastern entrance, dragging four Cold Crow Halberd Warriors behind them.

Maintaining their dragging stance, they exited the village, gained some distance, and then looped from east to west.

The four Cold Crows were forcefully scraped against the ground, experiencing a close encounter with it.

Dust, grass fragments, and debris scattered everywhere.

They left four visible drag marks on the soft grasslands, much like a human plow.

The ground they were dragged across bore a dark red hue.

This came from their blood; there is a difference between chain armor and full coverage armor.

Debris slipped through the gaps and entered the chain armor, causing scratches and abrasions as it rubbed against the skin during the dragging.

Their life values continuously drained because of this.

However, the draining wasn’t fast, as their high life value of 545 and upper body armor value of 28 meant they wouldn’t die from the dragging so quickly.

But if they don’t find a way to escape, being dragged to death alive is the only outcome awaiting them.

These Cold Crow Halberd Warriors were indeed tough; they didn’t scream or cry in pain despite the circumstances, just held their halberds tightly.

They sought opportunities to thrust them into the ground to halt the Blue Owl Cavalry’s drag.

Yet they found no suitable chance; the situation appeared dire. If things continued, these Cold Crow Halberd Warriors couldn’t escape death.

Meanwhile, on Odu Village’s west, as outer traps were cleared, the Expeditionary Army began its frontal assault.

Catapult projectiles launched into formations of Cold Crow Halberd Warriors.

”Boom, boom, boom!”

Purple energy dispersed with the explosions, and stationary crossbows fired at the Raven Tower in the village center.

Inflicting over a hundred points of damage on the Cold Crow Halberd Warriors and surrounding residences within range.

The purple catapult projectiles dealt bonus damage to energy shields but didn’t provide extra boosts against regular warriors or structures.

Still, it was far from negligible damage.

Thick crossbow arrows spanned two to three kilometers, tearing through wooden walls, damaging the secret silver-ground engraved with magic runes inside.

They delivered a severe damage effect on the structural durability value of the entire Tower of the Raven.

Some large arrows punched through walls, violently crashing into the Church Heavy Armor Shooters stationed inside, blasting people and walls into large holes.

Stationary crossbows didn’t seem remarkable against the Raven Dome, but against structures, they showcased their true potential.

These stationary crossbows have bonus damage against buildings. Kunyel now felt calm, resuming the composure expected of a commander.

The Lord’s Influence intended to spectate, but Kunyel demanded they lead the attack!
