Global Lords: I Have Information System

Chapter 438: Chapter 332: Laying the Backup Plan, Tunneling In

This is Zong Shen! The strongest in the region! He is also the only one among billions of Lords who has defeated the regional challenge Boss.

As long as these Lords aren’t brainless, they wouldn’t actively provoke Zong Shen.

They are merely observing Zong Shen’s movements, to see if this regional boss has any hidden discoveries.

When Zong Shen stopped, these people were disappointed because the place he stopped at was plain and unremarkable, with only a few old trees, thick enough for two people to hug, standing there, appearing featureless.

Zong Shen reached this location, instructing the Wolf Riders and Immortal Gun Cavalry to casually disperse around, using their tall bodies to block views from all directions.

He himself wandered around these few old trees, pacing for over ten minutes.

Finally, as if tired from walking, he plopped down on the ground, his form completely shielded by the cavalry, escaping the peeping eyes.

This entire process successfully exhausted the Peeping Toms’ interest.

Seeing that those knights didn’t move, they assumed Zong Shen had decided to camp there, so they turned their eyes elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Zong Shen had already crouched, using the cavalry’s cover, stealthily arriving next to an old tree, clearing away the grass and stones half-covering the roots, revealing a hollow tree trunk.

He slipped inside the trunk, moved aside a makeshift board at his feet, exposing a hole just large enough for a person to enter.

Cautiously, he wriggled into the hole, clinging to the wall and descending.

It was only about a five-meter drop before Zong Shen touched ground.

A passageway appeared before him, about 1.5 meters high, allowing an adult man to crouch and move forward.

This was Odu Village’s tunnel, leading into the village.

The reason Zong Shen knew the location of this exit was because of a key.

[Odu Village Tunnel Key (Special)].

This was discovered on the day before the final challenge, when Zong Shen led a team out to clear a Burrow Monster Swarm, found among the possessions of a fallen lord in a territory destroyed by the swarm. Now it could be put to use.

The Expeditionary Army outside didn’t know how long it would take to break the black shield, and it was still early, just past four in the afternoon, not yet five o’clock.

Rather than waiting outside idly, it was better to act first, quietly sneaking into the village to check the situation.

Zong Shen wasn’t the type to waste time, a few hours would be enough for him to scout the village.

He crouched forward along the passage, which was dark and roughly built. Zong Shen took out a [Magic Power Flashlight] to illuminate ahead.

After spending more than ten minutes, he finally saw the end of the passage.

The black Raven Dome only protected the surface; the underground part wasn’t covered.

This made Zong Shen think of the [Red Gold Barrier Pillar (Golden)].

He wondered whether the Epic Level defensive building in his territory could also protect the underground.

The end of this passage was a gentle slope of steps, much wider than the hole inside the tree trunk.

Zong Shen walked up the steps, and after a few steps, he arrived at the top, where there was a square exit, locked by a simple metal rune door.

This small door was where the village tunnel’s entrance was, with keyholes on both sides. Zong Shen took out the [Odu Village Tunnel Key], inserted it into the keyhole, held his breath, and slowly unlocked it.

”Click!”

With a crisp unlocking sound, Zong Shen pushed open the square door overhead, feeling some resistance, as if some objects used for concealment weighed down on the door from above.

This made him even more cautious, as his Strength Attribute was very high, and any carelessness could produce a sound.

As he pushed open the square door, the piling junk on top tilted to the side, making a slight noise, but fortunately, Zong Shen’s actions were gentle enough that the overall sound wasn’t loud.

He turned off the [Magic Power Flashlight] and slowly peeked his head out.

The surrounding environment was dim, and Zong Shen could only see a grass hut overhead, with a burst of stench from urination emanating incessantly nearby.

This seemed to be a relatively closed small space.

There was nothing unusual overall, and no Church members nearby.

He no longer hesitated and boldly climbed out, only then realizing that he was in fact inside a dim grass hut.

Next to it, partitions were made with planks, and the stench was coming from a nearby partition, which made Zong Shen finally understand his location.

The villagers of Odu Village were truly clever, having placed the tunnel entrance next to a village latrine, disguising it as an abandoned restroom.

The three walls here were filled with straw, and the small wooden door ahead seemed to be blocked by something from the outside. Zong Shen gently pushed open a crack to look outside.

The village was not dark; the black dome was one-way, only preventing external surveillance, but did not affect internal viewing outward.

This location was quite remote, with rows of somewhat old small houses beside it.

Looking around, he didn’t see any patrolling Church soldiers.

This was quite expected since with such a black turtle shell covering, who would think there was a hidden tunnel next to the latrine in Odu Village?

The most important point was that the current Odu Village obviously had a loose internal situation, and hundreds of Church Warriors couldn’t patrol the entire village.

Nor was it tight enough to monitor even the village latrines.

A bundle of straw was also stacked outside this disguised latrine door.

Most of the village grew wheat as the main crop, so such straw piles could almost be seen everywhere.

Gently pushing back the rotten wooden door, Zong Shen left the disguised latrine, starting to observe the surrounding environment.

At this time, most of the functions of the Guide Module were in standby, otherwise, Zong Shen could have used the module to mark the locations of nearby Church soldiers, but now he could only explore slowly on his own.

He closed the rotten wooden door and replaced the straw bundle blocking the door.

This was at the edge of the village, near the northwestern direction, with a row of shabby small wooden houses outside where the black shield’s edge was.

Just by heading southeast, one could reach the village center.

Advancing forward, there was a small three-way path, surrounded by two-story village houses, with this spot perfectly sandwiched.

As he cautiously observed, he moved forward, standing in the three-way path, choosing to go left, which corresponded to the east side of Odu Village.

The Expeditionary Army’s temporary base was built on the west side of Odu Village, so the Church’s primary focus would naturally be concentrated on the west side of the village.

After all, an Expeditionary Army of six or seven hundred warriors wasn’t made of clay, and even the confident Church would have most of its attention drawn by it.

By this principle, Zong Shen chose this direction, as his current mission was merely to scout and get a grasp of the village’s situation, so that when the opportunity arose, he could strike efficiently and decisively.

He treaded carefully along the small path to the left, trying to avoid making any sound.

The houses lined the path, though there wasn’t much to learn, he needed to quickly exit the path, reaching the main street of the village, and gradually inching towards the village center from the left.

When he snuck into the village to steal secret silver before, he noted that the main functional buildings were around the village center’s plaza, including the [Tower of the Raven] built by the Calamity Raven Church.

As for these residential houses, they had little exploration value. At most, they’d find some pennies, food, or clothes, and even if they turned every single one upside down, they wouldn’t find much of value.

His targets were the village’s warehouse, merchant resting points, and places where the village’s taxes were stored.

Though small, the sparrow was complete with internal organs. For Zong Shen, Odu Village still had some assets worth exploring.
