Global Lords: I Have Information System

Chapter 237: Chapter 231: Reform Proposals, Level Hunt Upgrade

Zong Shen released his hand and turned around to leave in a carefree manner.

After walking just a few steps, a loud voice from the Dwarf Uncle came from behind.

”My lord, I will definitely repair this combat puppet within three days!”

Zong Shen waved his hand backward to indicate his understanding and then headed directly toward the area of the houses; he was in too much of a hurry earlier and had not handed things over to Marie.

At this moment, Marie was chatting with San Pang, with the nearby male and female farmers seated around her.

In the territory, the gender ratio of farmers was about two to one. This ratio was not very balanced, but since the numbers were not large, there was no immediate need to consider pairing the farmers into families.

However, when the population grows, this issue will need to be addressed seriously.

As soon as Zong Shen reached them, the farmers stood up and saluted him, showing him great respect.

Zong Shen waved his hand, indicating for them all to sit down, then walked over to Marie’s side.

He took out a thick stack of books, totaling six, all of which Zong Shen had acquired recently.

They included ”Herbalism Encyclopedia,” ”Marching Strategy,” ”Confession of the Holy Master,” and more. Completing the designated reading time could grant certain attributes or mastery of certain skills.

This was true knowledge equaling power. Unfortunately, Zong Shen had little spare time, occupied either with rest or with constructing and exploring battles. Otherwise, he would have liked to spare some time to read.

Zong Shen handed all these books to Marie for her to keep. First, she had a talent for reading, and second, she could look for talent among the farmers to start training the territory’s own pharmacists and chefs.

This would allow for the production of various potions and beneficial meals, forming a healthy industrial chain, with potions as standard equipment for warriors, thereby increasing their safety.

Of course, this was just a plan and vision, and it would likely take some time to move from preparation to final formation.

”Marie, these books are for you.”

”Read more when you have free time. We will build our own library someday.”

”We also need to establish schools, promote education, so that everyone can read to improve themselves, mastering more life and labor skills, and enhancing the overall quality of our subjects.”

”Also, take notice of who might have talents in pharmaceuticals and cooking, and try to cultivate them.”

Zong Shen said to Marie in front of all the farmers.

Such learning was almost unimaginable for ordinary farmers.

Especially in this world where education was not widespread.

Only residents in giant cities and Bang City had more educational opportunities.

For villagers and farmers to learn was almost impossible; the skills they mastered only met the needs of daily life, such as gathering and production.

Like farming or herding cattle and sheep, coastal villagers would fish, and mountain villagers would hunt. Such labor skills were generally mastered.

For instance, Erya and Xiaoping, who were responsible for the territory’s farmland, were quite skilled in farming.

However, for more complex skills, the farmers could only scratch their heads.

Among the farmers, there were also potential ones. Zong Shen observed that with daily labor, certain farmers seemed to have improved their talents by a level.

Some farmers indeed appeared smarter than others. For example, San Pang was a clever guy who was agile in both work and handling affairs. Another farmer recruited from Sitanos Village, named Ruiou, was of green good talent.

This indicated that farmers had cultivation value and could indeed be the foundational population for the territory’s long-term development.

In the short term, recruitment and plunder were relied upon, but in the long run, city development and population reproduction were necessary.

In the future, the territory would require reforms across various aspects.

For the territory’s reforms, Zong Shen already had a rough idea.

First, the territory needed to accumulate a basic population, and then attract enough circulation of outsiders. The circulation of people could not only bring assorted messages but also a large amount of materials and wealth.

Only by expanding influence and increasing exchanges with the outside world could wealth be rapidly accumulated.

Like Sitanos Village, where many merchants frequently come to purchase cows, sheep, grain, cowhide, and sheepskin as agricultural and sideline products, it eventually became a larger village with a larger population in the surrounding area. Thanks to the prominent cattle and sheep industry, many villagers opted to raise cattle to make money. Economic circulation and demand spurred industrial development, eventually supporting a large population.

Additionally, internally establishing a wage system would allow farmers and soldiers to enter paid labor stages. However, expenses such as food and lodging would require them to pay certain fees to the territory, while the remaining salary could be freely used to purchase private property, forming an economic cycle and wealth accumulation.

Zong Shen could also sell land, seeds, calves, and lambs at low prices to encourage farmers to actively cultivate and engage in agriculture and breeding in designated areas around the territory.

The harvested products could be allowed for sale within the territory, forming a healthy cycle of output and income, attracting wealth to the territory like a rolling snowball, thereby greatly increasing farmers’ enthusiasm for production.

Besides the economic aspect, there were other formalization reforms, including stratification, separation of military and civilian sectors, implementing a military merit system, and not only becoming the trade center among regional indigenous people but also the commercial center among regional lords.
