Global Lords: I Have Information System

Chapter 222: Chapter 217: News of the Legion, Rocket-Like Leveling Up

Any burrow monsters entering within a few hundred meters of Zong Shen Territory will face attacks from the arrow towers.

Both the Elemental Arrow Tower and the Ancient Guardian possess long-range locking attack capabilities.

Even swarms of burrow monsters find it difficult to breach this distance, as patrolling warriors will swiftly arrive to coordinate with defense buildings for rapid strangulation of monster swarms.

The few hundred meters surrounding the territory seem like a boundary between life and death, forming a stark contrast with the swarming burrow monsters outside.

Marie rode on Pigsy’s neck, initially a bit scared, but once she rode Pigsy for a distance, she got used to it. After being tamed, Pigsy treats its own people as a docile big piggy, with a fierce appearance that seems to hide a simple and honest heart.

However, when facing the enemy, it transforms into a terrifying fierce beast, letting those enemies know that the Blood-toothed Wild Boar is indeed a ferocious wild animal!

Aside from Marie, no one else carried mounts; everyone was on foot combat throughout.

From the territory to Jiang Yi’s territory is less than twenty kilometers, progressing by hunting burrow monsters along the way, it would take roughly three to four hours to reach. If they were riding horses and proceeding at a constant speed, it would take only thirty to forty minutes, or twenty to thirty minutes at a fast pace.

However, the primary purpose of Zong Shen’s trip this time is to hunt burrow monsters, with visiting Jiang Yi’s territory being incidental. Otherwise, just to travel, he might as well drive the Burden-Bearer Mecha.

After leaving a kilometer outside the territory, the burrow monsters roaming around began to become increasingly dense.

As for why Zong Shen prepared to visit Jiang Yi’s territory, the reason lies in a private chat message Jiang Yi left for him yesterday.

Jiang Yi informed him that a lord nearby is preparing to form a legion.

[Legion] represents a cooperative force between lords. The invitation conditions are the existence of another lord’s territory within the territory’s range. This means that the higher the territory level, the more other lords within its range, the easier it is to establish a legion.

Additionally, after joining the legion, there are some very convenient cooperation functions, allowing members to support each other.

It offers a certain action speed bonus and allows resource sharing, though there is a daily limit, and members can construct legion-exclusive buildings.

Legions also have levels, requiring a certain number of members and a designated amount of donated resources to upgrade. There’s a combat bonus when legion members fight together, which increases with the legion level.

In short, the [Legion] function is a cooperative platform provided by the system within the rules among lords. Over time, with the rise of dominant lords in each area, various [Legion] forces eventually emerge.

With powerful lords as the core, structured as [Legion] with organizational and regulatory constraints, these lord groups hold together for warmth, enhancing survival odds. The emergence of such groups also curtails mutual slaughter between lords.

A few lords expand their power rapidly by slaughtering others and seizing their wealth.

But as the [Legion] function becomes widespread, solitary killings will greatly reduce, and many conflicts will subside under the legion’s rules.

Thus, the [Legion] function setup is also a guidance from the Lord System. The mysterious Lord System seems not to conduct some game, but intentionally cultivates and refines lords, seemingly preparing to create some new forces on this continent.

As Zong Shen thought about this, advancing with warriors, he inexplicably recalled the Blood-Burning Demon that invaded over ten thousand years ago.

He also remembered the giant demonic claw behind the Earth Cavern Teleportation Gate and the endless burrow monsters.

He vaguely grasped a certain thread, but could not articulate it.

”I want to know why we descended into this mysterious world.”

”What relation do those other-dimensional monsters have with this world?”

Zong Shen decided to consult the Guide Module to see if he could get an answer.

Unexpectedly, when the question was raised, the Guide Module stalled for several seconds before golden subtitles appeared.

(Sometimes knowing the answer isn’t important, striving to complete the process is what matters most. Please do your utmost to create a territory belonging to the mighty. No matter the challenge, the mighty always stand at the pinnacle. Only by surviving and becoming the strongest can you have the right to see the answer to this question.)

This time, the strategy prompt response was somewhat serious, without directly addressing Zong Shen’s question.

The question seemed to touch upon an essential secret, one that even the guide was reluctant to reveal to him now. After all, without the capability to solve the problem, knowing it would be of no use, possibly even hindering normal development progress.

Zong Shen retracted his thoughts, although still curious, he quickly adjusted his mindset.

The team charged towards the swarm of burrow monsters blocking the road ahead, numbering in the hundreds.

Without the wolf riders leading the way, the pace of battle slowed considerably. Zong Shen pulled out the , a weapon previously wielded by Sewn Monster Pato, decent in its destructive power with a strength requirement of 38 points, which Zong Shen could now easily handle.

He used the butcher knife as a one-handed weapon, gripping it in his right hand.

As for the left hand, he took out the . With his current high strength attribute of 67 points, dual wielding sabers was no challenge for him.

Fighting these burrow monsters didn’t require Rare Level or even Legendary Level weapons; two Excellent Level sabers were more than enough.

Zong Shen wielded the dual sabers, recklessly charging forward alongside Luna at the front line.

The dual blades in his hands slashed violently; a single swing instantly killed a Level 3 zombie monster, and another slash split a Sharp-toothed Worm that had just emerged from the ground in half, with yellow-green pus and a mass of sticky entrails splattering onto the ground.

The four Dragonized Spear and Shield Warriors behind him raised their heavy shields and long spears, advancing step by step, occasionally thrusting their spears to attack the burrow monsters.

At the rear, the Dragon-kin Ranger sisters, after equipping new bows and arrows, significantly increased their firepower, shooting arrows like raindrops, too fast for the naked eye to follow.

The mages, not to be outdone, all wield Rare Level weapons, showcasing formidable combat capabilities.

Their target was in the sky, where gargoyles flew about in disarray, various magic spells shooting forth like fireworks, with the dozen or so members of the squad drilling through the burrow monster swarm.

Marie, riding on Pigsy’s back, was stunned, bravely raising her to try and strike. But as she watched Zong Shen savagely slice open a zombie’s body, she felt a wave of nausea and quickly covered her mouth with her hand.

Under Zong Shen’s fierce fighting style, within five or six minutes, the swarm of burrow monsters was cleared out, along with five or six gargoyles.

A Level 10 ordinary monster offers about 170 experience points; burrow monsters yield only 30%, or 50 points. After further reduction for team kills, only 25 points are allocated to Marie. Elite Level and Captain Level monsters follow suit.

This battle garnered 337 points, and despite numerous reductions, still provided Marie with 3686 experience points.

Though the experience from burrow monsters is relatively low, gargoyles are Captain Level monsters, and Sharp-toothed Worms are Elite Level monsters.

The overall yield is still quite substantial, and actively hunting is more efficient than waiting, as burrows spawn a batch of monsters every three minutes, with each batch consisting of about 4 to 5.

The group they just eliminated had over a hundred monsters—a one-hour spawn from a burrow—thus making active hunting indeed efficient for slaying and leveling up.

Previously, Zong Shen only spared time for combat a few hours at night, largely focusing on exploration. However, if he prioritized hunting over exploration, his points would probably multiply manifold.

Yet, thanks to the mine exploration, his strength rapidly increased, along with accumulating vast resources and equipment.

With his enhanced strength, the expediency in killing burrow monsters rises, being a mutual support factor.

Currently, Zong Shen and Favide reap considerable benefits during battle, as they gain charging points and extraction value from monsters they personally slay.

After defeating the monster swarm, Zong Shen led the team swiftly around the plague zone, continuing southeast.

Particularly for Marie, whose attributes are the lowest, and constitution the weakest, being most susceptible to disease effects, exceptional caution was needed to avoid the plague zone.

Marie leveled up directly from Level 1 to Level 5, becoming lv5 , just over 800 experience points shy of reaching Level 6.

This leveling speed was akin to a rocket propelling forwards, as if a bunch of high-levels carrying a low-level character grinding for upgrades.

As they continued onwards, the monster density in this vicinity was moderate, hardly encountering giant swarms numbering in the thousands, mostly groups of hundreds to a few hundred.

This perhaps corresponded to the killing intensity of the Lord nearby; the stronger the force exerted, the lower the burrow monster density accordingly becomes.

When Zong Shen ventured to the mine, he crossed vast, deserted ruins where he surprisingly encountered colossal monster swarms numbering in the thousands. If left unchecked, these swarms would snowball into tens of thousands-sized swarms within days.

However, Zong Shen wasn’t concerned; he had many trump cards.

To Zong Shen, these burrow monsters were no more than mobile rewards.
