Wilderness Survival with Druid System

But over on Roland’s side.

Unlike Chen Wen, Roland not only failed to get food today, but due to some reasons, he also suffered a loss of food.

In the morning, Roland also chose to check his food.

But unlike Chen Wen.

Roland’s shelter didn’t have an extra area set aside for food storage.

His food was placed inside the shelter.

However, because the fire inside the shelter was kept burning, the temperature around it was quite high.

Therefore, when checking his food.

Roland found that a lot of the berries he had stored early on had gotten moldy.

”Damn! What’s going on?”

Roland couldn’t help but curse quietly as he took out all the berries emitting a musty smell.

When storing the berries, in order to ensure the energy of the berries wasn’t lost, Roland stored them in empty tree stumps.

Unlike Chen Wen, he didn’t expend the effort to dry them into fruit chips.

”Sigh, I’ve lost nearly half the berries!”

With a hand on his forehead, Roland dejectedly threw the moldy, inedible berries out of the shelter.

His mood also sank due to the berry loss.

But soon, Roland forcibly found a reason to cheer himself up, ”Fortunately, there’s no problem with the meat. With so much meat, I can hold out for dozens of days without trouble!”

Roland returned inside the shelter to continue resting.

Nonetheless, it was clear that his mental state was no longer on the same level as Chen Wen’s.

Greg sighed, ”In the next week, if Roland can hang in there and adjust his mood, he will still have a chance to compete with Chen Wen. But if he can’t, surviving this time will be difficult.”

...

In the following week, Roland’s mood visibly deteriorated.

He also tried to find some amusement for himself, to cheer himself up.

But facing the vast whiteness all around, finding joy was extremely challenging.

Monotonous colors, harsh environment, solitude’s loneliness...

When the survival time reached the first hundred days.

Roland’s appearance in front of the camera changed dramatically.

His eyes were red, with sunken eye sockets, his pupils sometimes vacant.

His mental state was extremely poor.

Roland still hadn’t adjusted his mood.

On Chen Wen’s side, surrounded by animals, he was in an excellent mood, always finding different amusements each day.

Recently, Chen Wen used rabbit skins to sew a little ball-like thing, filling it with pine needles and gravel.

He played ball with the animals.

It’s undeniable that ball toys have a strong appeal to animals.

This prey-mimicking toy can maximally stimulate their hunting and exploring desires, making it irresistible for them.

Chen Wen constantly played with the animals, so his mood was naturally good.

Comparing both sides, the outcome of the survival challenge was clear to everyone.

Now, it was a matter of seeing how long Roland could last under such poor mental conditions.

...

Another week passed.

When survival time reached one hundred and seven days.

Roland’s condition had declined severely.

Besides looking more bedraggled and disheveled.

The occasional stupor before had become frequent and lasted longer.

On the morning of the one hundred and seventh day, when Roland experienced a two-hour-long stupor, the program team urgently communicated with Roland’s assistant and family again.

”Overall, like we discussed last time, his mental state is very poor!”

A psychological counselor on the program team spoke solemnly, ”It’s no longer about whether he can hold on. If we don’t intervene promptly, I believe it might have a severely negative impact on his future mental health.”

Most survivors have various psychological issues.

After all, struggling to survive alone in the wild, the solitude and pressure are immense.

But Roland’s case was rarely this severe.

Ultimately, Roland’s assistant and wife, along with Roland’s sister, after considering his situation.

And referencing Chen Wen’s side of things.

They chose to give up.

Besides worrying for Roland, there was also despair at Chen Wen’s side.

Over there, it was not about strength or lack thereof, it was a completely different league compared to Roland.

Solitary wilderness living met Chen Wen.

Beast taming survival was as strong as a monster.

Couldn’t be beaten despite all efforts.

That’s pretty much what they thought.

After getting the family’s consent.

The program team immediately contacted Roland.

They told Roland the suggestion and informed him of the conversation with his family.

Upon hearing from the program team, Roland sighed wearily, ”Who else is still hanging in there now?”

”Only Chen Wen.”

”How is he doing now?”

”Uh...”

”Much better than me, right?”

”Yes.”

Roland put down the satellite phone, a trace of unwillingness flashed in his eyes.

But what good was unwillingness?

Holding the satellite phone, Roland shook his head slightly.

Even without this call, Roland had already planned to give up survival in the coming days.

Completely disconnected from the outside world, unaware of how many were still surviving.

This bewilderment and solitude had already crushed him.

Roland picked up the satellite phone, shaking his head helplessly, ”I’m giving up, Chen Wen... sigh, he truly is...”

Two sighs in a row.

It was both helplessness and admiration.

With Roland announcing his withdrawal, the survival officially ended.

The program team erupted in cheers.

There was surprise at Chen Wen’s victory, but even more so, cheers for no longer needing to work!

Greg also wore a smile on his face.

”Luckily, it ended before the Eight Extremes Challenge, giving the contestants some preparation time when they return.”

As Greg spoke, he also started moving, planning to wrap up the program.

But just then.

A consultant stopped Greg.

He pointed at the screen displaying Chen Wen, then said, ”Director, I think you should first handle Chen Wen’s beast taming issue.”

”Beast taming? Oh, damn!”

Greg’s eyes widened, he sharply slapped his forehead.

”Over there, the beasts include a Wolf Mink, a red fox, an Eagle, a North American grey wolf, a short-tailed weasel, four coyotes, a moose, and a reindeer.”

After counting the number of tamed beasts.

Greg’s face turned into a grimace.

You could say taking away surplus Wolf Minks is certainly possible.

But among these animals, the North American grey wolf, moose, and short-tailed weasel are protected in the region!

Especially that albino moose!

In local culture, such an albino moose is incredibly precious!

It looks like a difficult discussion ahead!

Greg suddenly felt a bit dizzy.

Why didn’t Chen Wen have so many tamed beasts during survival before, but this time...

Sigh.

Considering how good this program’s effects were this time, fine, so be it!
