Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Vini’s call was no surprise to anyone, including Greg.

Everyone had witnessed his recent struggles.

Failed ice fishing, fruitless hunting trips, emotions plunging into anxiety...

No one saw any hope for Vini to win.

And Vini himself couldn’t hold on any longer.

Many times, in a daze, he had picked up the satellite phone, a sign of being unable to persevere.

So for this call from Vini, the program team was already prepared.

”Okay, we’re coming to get you immediately.”

The staff said and notified the rescue team right away.

Meanwhile, everyone on the program team also got the news.

”Now, it’s just Chen Wen and Roland left. In this last week, who will hold out?”

Greg compared the survival logs of Chen Wen and Roland.

As it stands, although Chen Wen holds an advantageous position, the material gap between him and Roland isn’t that big.

It’s just that he’s way ahead emotionally.

But Roland isn’t a fragile person either.

Despite feeling down, he constantly adjusts his mindset, keeping his emotions at a normal level.

”A hundred days, I feel that’s not the limit for either of them.”

One consultant smiled and said, ”If they want to decide a winner, it’ll probably take more than a hundred days.”

Another consultant chimed in, ”That’s right, but according to our rules, one hundred and twenty days is the limit. If it still ends in a tie, the champion will be decided based on the log records and evaluations.”

Everyone nodded and started discussing previous assessments.

...

Over on Chen Wen’s side.

He walked to the notice board and made a mark on it.

It was already crowded with nearly a hundred marks.

”By my estimate, it’s been over ninety days now, right?”

Chen Wen shook his head slightly, ”I don’t even know how many are left who have held on till now, but there should be three or four? After all, this survival is all experts, and if only two or three remain, that would be awkward for those eliminated.”

Hearing this, Lin Jiawei from the program team smirked: According to this, there’d be quite a few awkward folks on our side too.

Putting back the notice board, Chen Wen pondered what to do today.

He first took a round in the storeroom, checking the food inside.

Except for a slightly moldy smell from some willowherb roots placed too close to the inside due to the shelter’s temperature, the rest of the food was fine.

Chen Wen took these subtly moldy willowherb roots out of the shelter.

He placed them in the snow outside the shelter, planning to dry them for a day.

After checking the food, Chen Wen began his daily activities.

The main thing was to move a bit to invigorate his muscles.

But at this moment, the Wolf Mink and Eagle quickly rushed in from outside the shelter.

What have these two been up to these days?

Chen Wen squinted his eyes, feeling they weren’t up to anything good.

However, once the Eagle stopped.

It immediately said excitedly, ”Human, do you want rabbits?”

”Rabbits?”

Chen Wen was taken aback, then laughed, ”If you have them, of course, I want them.”

”Hey, since you say so!”

The Wolf Mink leapt from the snow wall in front of Chen Wen.

It happily said, ”These days we’ve been out wandering, and a few days ago, we suddenly saw a large group of rabbits! The kind with very long legs!”

Rabbits with long legs?

Chen Wen realized, ”Are they Arctic hares? You saw them?”

”Yes! Tons of them!”

The Wolf Mink said, eyes glinting with greed.

”At first, we coordinated, with the Eagle flushing out the weak and sick rabbits while I lay in ambush, waiting to seize them with one swift move!”

”At first, we worked well, but a few days ago, we found that this trick wasn’t working anymore.”

”The rabbits stopped fearing the Eagle. When the Eagle tried to drive them, it was ineffective, and some rabbits even showed aggression toward the Eagle!”

Hearing this, Chen Wen was stunned.

Rabbits showing aggression toward the Eagle?

How could things go so pear-shaped?

The Eagle glanced at the Wolf Mink and couldn’t help but say, ”It’s exaggerating; basically, I went to drive them, and they ignored me, and during my attack, the rabbits would band together to fend off my advances.”

”If it was just one rabbit, I might try to grab it, but with a group together, it was difficult, and these long-legged rabbits are quick and large, making them hard to capture forcefully.”

That makes sense.

The Arctic hare is indeed one of the larger kinds of rabbits.

They have very long legs; there’s even a video on a streaming app called [When Arctic Hares Stand Up].

”So you’re asking if I want rabbits, you want me to hunt them?”

Upon hearing this, the Eagle said, ”Something like that.”

Chen Wen waved his hand immediately, ”Forget it, I’m bad at navigating this snow, whereas you guys manage fine. Before I even get close, the rabbits would have run off.”

The Wolf Mink seemed to anticipate Chen Wen’s refusal and immediately said, ”You don’t need to go out; they’re coming over on their own.”

”We noticed that the group of rabbits seems to be heading our way, and if they keep the same pace, today, no, tomorrow noon, they’ll probably reach our shelter!”

This made Chen Wen squint slightly.

Well, well, rabbits delivered to the door?

”Are you sure about their direction?”

”Positive!”

The Wolf Mink almost stood to pat its chest with its paw.

Hearing this, Chen Wen said, ”If they’re really coming our way, yes, charging them a toll isn’t a problem!”

When counting the food yesterday, Chen Wen felt like the supplies would last a little over a hundred days no problem.

But if another contestant persevered like him.

Then the food might not suffice.

After all, the coyote family also relies on Chen Wen for food, and their four mouths consume quite a bit.

So, considering these factors afterward, Chen Wen clapped his hands.

The animals lounging around heard the signal and gathered around immediately.

Chen Wen waved his hand, looking at the Wolf Mink, ”I agree with your plan, but the hunting strategy will have to be my call. Go tell everyone what happened so they’re aware of the plan.”

Hearing this, the Wolf Mink became excited.

It enthusiastically recounted the plan to the animals.

And Chen Wen pondered the matter of charging a toll.

The rabbits surely wouldn’t dare approach his shelter; too many intimidating scents lingered here.

Therefore, if they were to hunt tomorrow, they’d need to venture outside the shelter for sure.

With the Eagle present, they’d likely scout the rabbits’ location in advance.

But as for the specific hunting, Chen Wen planned to try a collaborative ambush hunt with the animals.

In simple terms, marshal all the carnivores.

Have them encircle the rabbits, coordinating with Chen Wen. Everyone rushes in to see how many rabbits they can catch!

Chen Wen glanced at what he had; he still had five stone spears.

The other spears were damaged for various reasons.

Including the long spear, he had six hunting chances in total.

Then I should wait up in the tree, and see if the [fruit fragrance] can lure the rabbits over.

As for the other animals, they’ll lie in ambush around the tree. Once I make my move, we’ll all swarm in!

Perfect plan, time to prepare!
