Wilderness Survival with Druid System

A firm and confident voice rang out, causing the animals to unconsciously focus their gaze on Chen Wen.

This is precisely the time when, as a leader, he must not lose his composure.

Chen Wen was well aware of this.

Therefore, while the animals were in panic, Chen Wen continued to speak, ”What are you afraid of? We are already fully prepared. As long as we stay in the shelter, how could there possibly be any harm?”

Upon hearing this, the old wolf and the others immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as Chen Wen said, these days, they had done a lot of preparation for this snowstorm.

No matter how severe the snowstorm is, as long as they are hidden in the shelter, nothing will happen to them.

The premise is that the shelter can hold up.

But for now, no animal brought up this concern because, in their view, this shelter was very sturdy.

As the old wolf and the others relaxed slightly, Chen Wen took advantage of the situation to continue building their confidence.

”Moreover, we’re not afraid of low temperatures. Look at this stove, and then look outside at the firewood reserves, and that pile of meat next door that’s as tall as a small mountain.”

Chen Wen detailed the prepared materials and then said, ”With this level of reserves, even if the snowstorm lasts ten days, or even another ten days, we’ll still hold out!”

This statement was equivalent to giving the animals a sense of reassurance.

They relaxed a lot and were no longer anxious.

Chen Wen also found them some tasks to avoid anxiety caused by idleness.

Soon, the animals were busy again.

Chen Wen also stepped out of the shelter to observe the changes in the surrounding environment.

Just as the Wolf Mink had said, the temperature was rising.

Low pressure from heat, high pressure from cold.

The temperature at the shore of the Great Slave Lake was rising, and the pressure was falling, which was a typical precursor to adverse weather.

”The pressure is dangerously low; this might be a rather powerful snowstorm. Tsk, it’s a bit troublesome!”

Chen Wen’s expression changed slightly, and he felt a bit tense.

...

On the production team’s side.

These days, the show’s consultants and staff had all become like meteorologists, constantly monitoring the documents from the meteorological department.

Analyzing the intensity of this snowstorm.

Greg was also looking at the documents and data.

According to the previous statements from the meteorological department, this snowstorm was a once-in-a-decade extreme snowstorm.

But after their preliminary measurements over the past few days, the intensity of the snowstorm might be even higher.

”Tsk, why do I have a bad feeling about this...”

Greg scratched his head, feeling increasingly uneasy.

But ultimately, Greg shook his head. At this point, changing his mind, not to mention the producers behind it, even the contestants might not agree.

After all, many contestants were quite strapped for cash.

Forget it, no point in overthinking.

Greg put down the materials, walked out of the room, and went outside.

The area he was in was also near the Great Slave Lake, but unlike where Chen Wen and the others were, this side was far from the center of the snowstorm.

The impact was minimal.

While Chen Wen and the others were on the edge of the central part of the snowstorm.

That area was the most severe part of the snowstorm.

...

Back to Chen Wen’s side.

The signs were becoming more obvious.

In Chen Wen’s perception, the surrounding pressure had dropped to a suffocating level.

Moreover, the temperature had risen significantly.

Chen Wen conservatively estimated that the current temperature was around minus twenty degrees Celsius.

In the area near the Arctic Circle’s Great Slave Lake, this temperature was considered a rare high temperature.

Yet there was not a trace of the sun in the sky.

The sky was even ominously gloomy, which was somewhat terrifying.

The phrase ”a storm is brewing” manifested here.

”Tsk, this damn weather!”

Chen Wen clicked his tongue, feeling a bit frustrated as he returned to the shelter.

The animals inside the shelter also felt the oppression.

Three coyote pups were nervously huddled next to their mother, shivering slightly.

Upon seeing Chen Wen come in, the little coyote that had once fallen ill and was tamed by Chen Wen ran to his feet, trembling with fear.

Chen Wen sighed, picking up the little coyote and placing it in his arms.

In the evening.

Darkness fell early, and Chen Wen had dinner early too.

Inside the shelter, the animals were leisurely eating their share of the food.

Having food improved their mood considerably.

The carefree Wolf Mink, who only cared about food, was eating meat comfortably on Chen Wen’s bed.

As it ate, it boasted about its experience of snatching food from a wolf pack during heavy snow.

Listening to the boasting, the old wolf squinted its eyes, staring at Wolf Mink.

Wolf Mink’s disdainful remarks about the gray wolf made it a bit disgruntled.

Just as the old wolf was about to tell its own story of driving away two reckless Wolf Minks trying to steal its food.

Suddenly.

It was as if a demon named Wind had appeared between heaven and earth.

It waved its hands, and gusts of wind suddenly rose from the ground.

Whoosh!

Accompanied by a strong howling sound, a fierce wind came from afar, violently striking Chen Wen’s shelter.

The wind started!

Chen Wen was startled and hurriedly went to the door of the shelter to observe the situation outside.

The wind seemed to be a north wind.

The wind’s power was quite strong.

The previous gust had even lifted a large amount of snow, blowing it up.

”What a strong wind! Is the shelter alright?”

The red fox approached Chen Wen’s feet, nervously asking him.

Chen Wen nodded slightly, ”Don’t worry, it’s fine. Just now, a wind of that level wouldn’t even knock down the ice wall I built before!”

This reassurance relaxed the red fox, and the other animals also breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing that the outside seemed okay, Chen Wen retracted his head.

He secured the door of the shelter and locked it with a rope-made lock.

”There might not be snow tonight, but the wind will definitely be fierce, so.”

Chen Wen announced his previously planned arrangements, ”Starting tonight, we will take turns keeping watch. Old Wolf and King Kong, you’ll cover the first half of the night. Red Shadow, Eagle, and White Shadow, you’ll cover the second half. If you hear any unusual sounds, wake me up immediately, understood?”

The animals understood that it was essential to keep a 24-hour watch on the outside conditions, so they all agreed without complaint.

Chen Wen could not directly communicate with the coyote family.

But through the red fox, he arranged for the mother coyote to join the second-half night watch team.

The animals’ sleep patterns were inherently irregular.

After meeting Chen Wen, they slowly adapted to a schedule.

Now they were merely returning to their previous state, so it didn’t impact them much.

As the animals agreed, Chen Wen also pondered his plan to weather the snowstorm.

After a moment, he nodded.

No problem!

According to his plan, as long as it’s not like the snow depth of the United States Buffalo Blizzard of 1977—back then, the snow depth was 5.06 meters.

He and the animals could definitely survive this snowstorm unscathed!

...

At the same time, as Chen Wen instructed the animals to keep watch.

Others also felt the arrival of the snowstorm.

”What a strong wind!”

Hua Yun’s side, feeling the howling wind outside and the faint breeze seeping through the cracks in the wooden walls.

Her expression changed.

This was just the first gust of wind, and the shelter was already leaking.

If the snowstorm really comes...

Hua Yun shivered, clearly realizing how severely flawed her shelter was!

She stepped out, taking advantage before the snowstorm arrived.

Hua Yun immediately started patching the peeling moss on the wooden walls of the shelter.

At the same time, in a bout of urgency, Hua Yun had a brainstorm.

She decided to temporarily learn from the Inuit and use the surrounding snow, packing it into snow bricks to stack around the shelter.

Hoping to make it in time!

On the production team side, Hua Yun’s two assistants simultaneously grew tense.
