Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 608: Chapter 107: Hua Yun Strikes It Lucky

Hua Yun raised the bow, but did not draw the string, instead watching the movements of the wolf pack.

Attacking now would definitely provoke the hungry wolves to a relentless fight!

Therefore, Hua Yun planned to wait until the wolves had eaten for a while before striking again.

This musk ox was not small in size, you could even say it was large.

Sufficient for the wolves to be full, with some left over.

Hua Yun had her eyes on this leftover meat, and she also intended to snatch some meat from the lower-ranking wolves.

The wolf pack’s feeding habits are closely tied to their social hierarchy.

The high-ranking alpha wolf eats first.

When the other pack members see the leader approach, they hurry to make space.

The leader tears into the musk ox’s belly with sharp teeth, devouring the freshest and most nutritious organs.

The other wolves can only watch.

Once the leader is full, the wolves with ranks just below the leader’s surround the carcass, greedily eating the remaining organs and meat of the musk ox.

They tear at the chunks of meat and swallow them whole.

The musk ox’s body withers away rapidly before the eyes.

And after those wolves are done eating, several more waves of wolves gather to eat.

Time passed, more than half an hour later.

Hua Yun took a deep breath and raised her bow and arrow.

The opportunity has come!

Right now, the ones yet to eat are the lower-ranked wolves, still hungrily eyeing the food.

Meanwhile, the alpha wolf and the higher-ranked ones are either full, grooming themselves on the side,

or playing around casually.

They seem incredibly relaxed.

This hunting success not only stabilized the new leader’s status, it also rekindled the wolves’ confidence.

At this moment, the wolf pack had recovered by seventy or eighty percent.

But just as the wolves waited for the lower-ranking ones to fill their bellies,

in the forest, Hua Yun drew her bow, aiming at a low-ranking, hungry wolf waiting to eat.

Swish!

The arrow flew like a locust, sweeping through the underbrush.

Thud!

The arrow pierced precisely into the chest of the wolf, causing it to struggle violently in pain.

It twisted its head, fiercely attempting to bite where it was struck.

But besides the quivering end of the arrow, there was nothing else there.

The movement of the gray wolf drew the attention of all the pack members.

The alpha wolf stood up from the ground, a sense of unease creeping in.

This scene reminded it of the time when the former leader led them to hunt musk ox.

The alpha wolf sniffed the air.

But all it could smell was the thick scent of blood.

And at this moment, a second arrow targeted the arrow-struck gray wolf, hitting accurately once more!

Hit by two arrows, the gray wolf struggled intensely, with blood still flowing from its body.

It didn’t struggle for long.

The third arrow arrived!

This arrow sealed the gray wolf’s fate, and as the arrow embedded in its flesh, it collapsed dead in front of the pack.

The scent of blood stirred the wolves, reminding them of the recent terrifying experience.

Some gray wolves whimpered, already showing signs of fear.

They remembered!

The day they were dominated by fear under Chen Wen!

The alpha wolf faked composure, trying to see what kind of animal was attacking them.

But this familiar method and timing of attack...

Soon, when Hua Yun’s figure staggered out from the woods,

the alpha wolf howled as if it had seen something terrifying.

It turned around and quickly escaped with the remaining pack members.

What?

Why did they run?

What just happened?

Just emerging from the woods, intending to try scaring off the gray wolves, Hua Yun was stunned.

She never expected that after shooting one gray wolf, the pack would react so timidly!

Could that have been the alpha wolf?

But that didn’t make sense; the alpha wolf should have been the one eating first, right?

Hua Yun was full of unanswered questions.

Finally, she shook her head.

Never mind, better take some of the meat first!

Hua Yun moved cautiously, quickly coming beside the musk ox, slicing off large amounts of musk ox meat from its still intact body with a hunting knife.

Meanwhile, she glanced at the dead gray wolf and retrieved her bow and arrows.

She wasn’t much interested in wolf meat.

After cutting off dozens of pounds of musk ox meat, Hua Yun didn’t care about the rest.

Carrying the meat and her bow and arrows, she quickly hurried toward her shelter.

...

”After this survival ordeal, Hua Yun must properly thank Chen Wen.”

Seeing this scene, Luo Yao didn’t know what to say either.

The monitoring staff beside her nodded with a smile: ”Indeed, if not for Chen Wen’s ferocious hunting style, instilling such fear of humans in the wolves, Hua Yun could not have succeeded this time on her own.”

After all, a normal pack of gray wolves would not have given up their prey so easily.

What a stroke of luck!

In the mental aspects.

Luo Yao grinned as well.

This time, Hua Yun was indeed fortunate.

But as for the musk ox...

It didn’t seem very healthy, could there be some hidden problems?

But quickly, Luo Yao shook her head, feeling she was overthinking.

After all, with high-temperature cooking, even if this ox had any viruses, they would be killed!

...

While Hua Yun was taking advantage of the wolf pack.

On Chen Wen’s side.

He began fishing, or more accurately, coyote fishing.

After discussing with the red fox, the red fox agreed to Chen Wen’s plan.

Beyond trusting Chen Wen, the red fox also worried that while guarding the bear meat alone, the coyote might suddenly appear and attack.

Thus, after some simple hesitation.

The red fox agreed to serve as bait to attract the coyote’s attention, letting it come out from the shadows to attack the red fox.

Of course, to ensure the red fox’s safety.

Chen Wen pulled off a clever deception plan.

He secretly placed a wolf mink inside the hollowed-out cavity of the grizzly bear, to guard against the coyote’s attack alongside the red fox.

Meanwhile, Chen Wen himself, along with the eagle, lay in ambush on a nearby tree.

The trap was set, just waiting for the coyote to come.

Chen Wen thought, tightly gripping the long spear in his hand.

...

Time passed by, minute by minute.

Chen Wen patiently squatted in the tree, awaiting the coyote.

Suddenly.

With a fluttering sound, the eagle cautiously landed on the tree branch beside Chen Wen.

It let out a series of cries, informing Chen Wen the coyote had appeared!

At the same time, about a hundred meters north of the grizzly bear’s body,

a coyote slowly emerged from the shadows.

This was a rather scrawny coyote, not very tall and somewhat shaky in its movements.

Is this coyote that starved?

Chen Wen saw the coyote looking almost emaciated and couldn’t help murmuring to himself.

Such a coyote, let alone dealing with him or the wolf mink, even the red fox has a chance to take it down.

Simultaneously, Chen Wen noticed this coyote wasn’t a special animal.

After thinking for a moment, Chen Wen slowly descended from the tree.

He intended to capture this coyote alive, to see what was going on.
