It took Chen Wen a full two days to bring this one dead and one alive reindeer back to the shelter.

Meanwhile, he also gathered some reindeer moss at the mountaintop where he hunted the reindeer.

Planning to grind it into powder and try it with the reindeer later.

However, for now, Chen Wen has not chosen to cook the reindeer.

He is currently pondering how to set the bones of the surviving reindeer.

Yesterday, Chen Wen took a moment to examine the injuries of this reindeer.

Honestly, the prognosis isn’t very optimistic.

Its right hind leg was violently broken by its own kind, snapping into three parts!

And because Chen Wen didn’t treat it promptly, the fractured area has already swollen.

”Tsk, it’s so hard to deal with!”

Chen Wen scratched his head, surrounded by numerous medical tools he prepared.

Including splints made from wooden planks, ropes made from fine twigs, and bandages made from bark.

Chen Wen’s idea is simple.

He intends to use the enhanced success rate of [Bone Setting], just like he once did for the bobcat, to directly piece together the reindeer’s bones and fix them with medical tools.

But while the idea is simple, the practice is difficult.

The biggest challenge right now is how to set the bones.

After all, a reindeer is not a bobcat.

For the bobcat back then, Chen Wen just immobilized its body to reduce its ability to attack to the maximum extent.

But reindeer are different.

He simply doesn’t have enough materials to immobilize its body.

If the reindeer struggles fiercely during the bone setting, its thick and sturdy hooves might strike Chen Wen’s head.

Then the fun would be immense!

Thus, Chen Wen is now contemplating methods to immobilize the reindeer without injuring himself.

The animals nearby are also brainstorming ways to help Chen Wen.

But ever since the Wolf Mink suggested, ”Why don’t you just kill it,” Chen Wen has stopped trusting them.

Just then, the recently overfed moose sauntered over.

Looking at its distant relative lying on the ground.

It languidly lay down next to it.

”Hey, Moose.”

Seeing the moose, Chen Wen asked as if making casual conversation, ”Do you know of any ways the Druid treats animals?”

Upon hearing this, the moose lifted its head and pondered for a while.

But to Chen Wen’s disappointment, it shook its head: ”Apart from the method you used previously, there’s nothing else.”

Alright.

It seems that in order to treat animals, he really needs to slowly learn the relevant knowledge on his own!

Chen Wen sighed.

But just as he was planning to find some large logs to knock the reindeer out and forcibly set its bones.

The moose said: ”But it did remind me of the first time me and that Druid encountered another moose.”

”That moose was injured too, and to treat it, we worked together to flip it over, fixing its limbs to the trees...”

The moose’s description gave Chen Wen an epiphany.

This method was something he had considered before, but didn’t proceed due to insufficient ropes.

Simply put, the plan was to find several trees growing closely and tie the reindeer up with its feet pointing skyward.

This way it would be safer to set the bones.

However, besides needing more ropes, this method is also quite risky.

If the reindeer is pinned to the ground, at most it would kick legs, arms, and head.

But if it’s hung upside down and it breaks free, it could kick vital parts!

Looking at the reindeer’s legs, Chen Wen shook his head repeatedly.

No, no!

While the female Druid could use this method, it is absolutely unusable for him as a man.

Nonetheless, this method gave Chen Wen a reminder.

He remembered the video he watched about mending cow hooves.

Soon, Chen Wen came up with a new idea.

...

In confusion, the reindeer was tied by Chen Wen with ropes on its two front legs, making it stand precariously before a spruce tree.

Then, Chen Wen tied the intact hind leg to the spruce.

Once he confirmed that the reindeer’s front and hind legs couldn’t move, Chen Wen slowly lifted its injured leg and bent it gently backward at the knee.

Though it was painful, this pain was nothing compared to the previous pain from being tied and panicked.

Therefore, the reindeer struggled only slightly.

Once Chen Wen bent the reindeer’s hind leg, he had the moose drag over some tree stumps.

These stumps were remnants from the trees Chen Wen had chopped, intending to use as firewood.

But now they had a new purpose.

Chen Wen stacked the stumps and fixed the reindeer’s injured leg on top of them.

Then, he took out his last piece of rope to secure the injured leg.

As he worked, the reindeer seemed to sense something.

It began to struggle.

But with its front legs tied together and the intact hind leg bound to the tree,

The reindeer’s struggle was limited to bodily movements.

Feeling the reindeer’s pain, Chen Wen immediately reached out, gently patting its body: ”Easy~ easy~, don’t move~ don’t move, I’m treating you.”

If we ignore the reason behind the reindeer’s injury, the scene was rather harmonious.

Even Chen Wen felt his words of comfort were quite ridiculous.

Thus, once the reindeer calmed down a bit, he decisively went to work.

Chen Wen roughly pinched the fractured spot on the reindeer’s leg, feeling the edges of the two broken bones.

With every movement, the reindeer’s eyes nearly bulged from pain.

Amid its agonizing cries, the animals at the camp couldn’t help but retreat to a safe distance.

The timid red foxes and coyote pups were so scared their ears drooped.

How terrifying!

What is Chen Wen doing?

Even if he were slaughtering this reindeer for its meat, it wouldn’t require such torment…

But at this moment, Chen Wen didn’t have time to care about how the animals were perceiving him.

He exerted himself pressing the reindeer’s leg, continuously trying to set its bones until he felt he had aligned them sufficiently.

Then, Chen Wen pressed the reindeer’s leg, applied the splint on the injury, and wrapped it in bark.

Finally, wrapped and secured the outer layer with fine twigs.

After resolving the first fracture, sweat dripped incessantly from Chen Wen’s forehead in a line.

Extremely labor-intensive!

But soon, Chen Wen began setting the second break.

This time perhaps due to being numbed by the pain, or simply having given up.

The reindeer’s struggle was surprisingly much less intense than Chen Wen anticipated.

Which delighted Chen Wen greatly.

He quickened his pace, aligning the reindeer’s bones and securing them.

”Phew! They are finally fixed!”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but sigh in relief as he withdrew from the reindeer’s leg.

The reindeer, now completely exhausted, leaned weakly against the tree, utterly spent.

Seeing this, Chen Wen gently patted the reindeer’s body.

He bestowed the blessing of the [Animal Doctor] onto the reindeer.

”Please don’t die now!”

Chen Wen sighed: ”You are my first... should be my second official patient, I hope you can bring me good news like the first.”

Having said that, Chen Wen untied all ropes from the reindeer’s body, leaving only the one on its head to keep it fixed against the tree.

To help the reindeer recover some energy, Chen Wen also placed some food beside it.

In any case, before the blizzard arrives, Chen Wen plans to keep an eye on this reindeer.

To monitor its recovery progress.

This also serves as a test for the effect of the [Bone Setting] entry.

After finishing his tasks, Chen Wen returned to the shelter.

Apart from the old wolf, Wolf Mink, and Eagle whose expressions appeared normal, the coyote family and red foxes glanced at Chen Wen with fear.

Obviously, the scene of him treating the reindeer left them with quite a psychological shadow.
