Chapter 612: Chapter 111: Unexpected Situation

Looking at the expression of enjoyment on Chen Wen’s face and the warm scene inside the shelter.

The crew here no longer focuses on Chen Wen’s situation.

Even Lin Jiawei doesn’t either.

It’s pointless.

Except the monitor is still dutifully watching Chen Wen, in case of any unexpected situation.

Everyone’s attention is now on someone else.

Aside from Chen Wen, Vini is currently the second most comfortable person.

His situation is similar to Chen Wen’s.

Food is abundant, nutrition balanced, health good, shelter stable.

Every day, aside from maintaining the camp, there’s almost nothing else to do.

At this moment, Vini is sitting cross-legged on a bed made of several wooden stakes, playing and singing with a simple guitar he made over the days, to relieve his inner loneliness.

And third in the ranking by the crew here, is Adam.

Adam is also resting at this time.

Apart from having a slightly insufficient food reserve, other aspects are similar to Vini’s.

However, the only hidden danger is that Adam’s stored food is mainly rabbits.

Rabbit meat, with extremely low fat content, makes it difficult for Adam to intake enough energy in the later stages.

This counts as a considerable risk.

The crew here jokingly calls Adam ’Little Vini’, while Vini is ’Big Adam’.

Their survival philosophies and methods are quite similar.

Fourth is Vic.

Since Vic took down a moose the last time, life’s been decent for him.

That time, he was lucky as well; apart from the dozens of pounds of moose meat taken away by the wolf mink, most were brought back by Vic to the shelter.

Relying on the moose meat, Vic’s weight gradually increased.

Fifth, surprisingly to everyone, is Hua Yun.

However, Hua Yun’s ranking here is also because of luck.

After profiting last time from the musk ox and wolf pack, Hua Yun couldn’t resist going back for a second time.

But to Hua Yun’s shock, that pack of North American gray wolves didn’t return.

Thus, Hua Yun freely took the remaining musk ox meat.

It was a huge haul.

Moreover, the musk ox bone provided Hua Yun with lots of fat.

The greasy marrow, Hua Yun ate quite well.

It’s just that the living place was a bit crude, so that’s why he ranked here.

Sixth, after pondering for a while, the crew gave this ranking to Fred.

This black bear hunter.

Since taking down a black bear in the early survival stage, Fred’s harvest hasn’t been very good.

He hasn’t seen any large-sized animals.

Therefore, he’s ranked here.

But Greg thinks Fred’s ranking is going to change soon.

He found a grizzly den, where there’s a hibernating female grizzly.

Fred has plans to hunt this female grizzly and is actively preparing.

If successful, Greg can enter the top three and try to compete for the championship.

If failed, Greg will land in the bottom three and go home directly.

Seventh is Roland.

Roland’s situation is quite complex, at least in the crew’s view.

He has a shelter not inferior to Chen Wen’s, but the food aspect is rather scarce.

However, Roland is ruthless enough.

Earlier, he discovered a large number of berries, starting from dozens of pounds, and stored them inside tree stumps. Recently, he has mostly been surviving on berries.

Besides berries, there are some small prey supplements.

But without big prey, the crew feels Roland is still in danger.

Eighth, Gaston.

Without his luck, Gaston is now living quite miserably.

Stored food is decreasing day by day, without any incoming supply.

The shelter is poorly built, and emotions fluctuate severely.

On the brink of elimination.

As for the current last place, it’s Phil, acting president of the French Survival Association, known as Chicken Brother.

Although he had great gains early on, the latter stages were weak, faced with the same issue as Gaston’s, and much worse.

However, Phil is now trying to change.

He’s crafted a ”big killer”!

A homemade wooden rod snare!

The overall shape is roughly a two-meter-long wooden rod paired with an even longer snare.

It is a handheld tool meant for proactively snaring galliforme prey.

Phil says this thing is powerful, but hasn’t had the chance to test it yet.

The crew here has limited understanding of this snare and isn’t very focused on it.

In summary, not many people are hopeful about Phil.

...

That’s roughly the situation of the contestants.

Greg looked around; today, the contestants all adopted a resting strategy.

After all, the snow outside is indeed too heavy.

Going out in this weather, there’s a high chance of getting lost.

If you’re lucky, you’ll likely be eliminated; if unlucky, there’s a risk to life!

Therefore, the crew here also rare took a day off.

...

The time came to the afternoon.

The snow slightly lessened, yet it continued falling heavily.

Chen Wen spread out his newly made musk ox fur blanket on the bed.

Meanwhile, he also took out the grizzly fur he previously tanned.

This grizzly fur he used as a blanket.

After changing to new bedding, Chen Wen was quite happy.

As for the previous black bear fur.

Chen Wen turned it into a robe, draped over himself.

He also made a rabbit fur hat and two thick grizzly gloves.

Without the crew’s prior notification and consulting fee,

Chen Wen felt the Animal Protection Association might want to talk to him somewhat.

Of course, the emphasis was not on the notification, but the consulting fee.

After finishing these clothes, Chen Wen went outside wearing his bear fur mantle to sweep the snow.

Mainly to prevent snow accumulation from being too thick, collapsing the roof and blocking the door.

After clearing some snow, Chen Wen’s playful side emerged.

He led the animals outside the camp in the heavy snow, building a snowman with the snow.

Chen Wen innovatively placed the grizzly’s head atop the snowman’s head.

Looking at it...somewhat eerie!

Feeling helpless, Chen Wen gave up on innovation and built a rather ordinary snowman.

After fooling around with the animals for a while, Chen Wen returned to the shelter.

He and the animals gathered around the fireplace, letting the fire dispel the cold accumulated from playing in the snow.

While chatting idly with the animals.

Suddenly, a peculiar ”creak” sound echoed from outside the camp.

Chen Wen and the red fox were taken aback, as these two creatures with the best hearing sensed something was amiss.

”Something’s approaching!”

The red fox nervously stood up, staring seriously outside through the shelter’s wall.

As the sound gradually amplified, it also identified the location by sound and fixed its eyes on that estimated spot.

”It’s okay, no need to worry, it’s a coyote.”

At this moment, Chen Wen gleaned more information from the sound.

He signaled the red fox not to be anxious.

After all, after perceiving the sound, the negative effect of his ”territorial consciousness”—reduced intelligence—did not trigger.

This indicates the approaching creature is one Chen Wen recognizes.

Currently, besides the five special animals.

The only animal Chen Wen recognized was the coyote family.

To corroborate Chen Wen’s words, after the footsteps stopped near the shelter, coyote calls sounded outside.

Chen Wen asked the old wolf to open the door, inviting the coyote inside.

He thought this was only a coyote visiting, thus didn’t pay much attention.

But soon, the coyote hurriedly walked into Chen Wen’s shelter.

When Chen Wen saw the coyote’s condition clearly, he immediately became nervous.

The coyote was covered in snow, carrying a young coyote in its mouth.

After placing the young coyote on the ground, it emitted a series of mournful cries.

It couldn’t even crawl up.

What’s going on?

Chen Wen was puzzled by this sight, but soon, he realized the young coyote must be sick!

”Old wolf, you all go out first!”

Chen Wen spoke urgently, giving the animals no chance to argue: ”Go out, this little wolf pup is sick!”
