Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 613: Chapter 112: Coyote Entry

Sick?!

The old wolves, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but tense up.

The longer they spent time with Chen Wen, the wiser they became and the deeper their understanding of human society grew.

”Quick, Chen Wen is probably worried that the pups have contracted a contagious disease!”

The old wolf let out a low growl, immediately pushing open the door and leading the animals out of the shelter.

After they all exited, only Chen Wen, the mother coyote, and the sick little coyote remained in the shelter.

Only then did Chen Wen have the time to carefully check the condition of the little coyote.

”Hmm, it looks weak and seems to have no energy.”

Chen Wen didn’t know much about veterinary medicine, and this moment felt like treating a dead horse as if it were still alive.

Just as Chen Wen was pondering checking the little coyote’s teeth,

The little coyote suddenly let out a tragic scream, its mouth opened, followed by intense coughing, with some mucus-like substance coming out near its nose.

”Coughing?! Animals can cough too?”

Chen Wen was quite surprised looking at the coyote’s condition.

But soon, he locked onto a possible disease the little coyote might have: ”Could it be a cold or fever?”

He extended his hand, pressing the back of his hand against the coyote’s abdomen.

A moment later, Chen Wen revealed a ’just as expected’ expression.

Previously, when he played with the little coyotes, he had felt their temperature, which was slightly higher than humans.

They felt very warm to the touch.

But now, the body of the little coyote was much hotter than that of a human!

So hot it was burning to the touch!

”Fever... Could it be that today’s snowfall caused these little guys to catch cold while playing outside?”

Chen Wen had just come up with this idea but then shook his head.

It’s unlikely.

Coyotes differ from humans; they have strong adaptability to temperature and can regulate their body temperature efficiently!

Plus, they already have dense heavy fur to protect against the cold.

Could it be a disease like canine distemper?

No matter!

Chen Wen stopped guessing aimlessly.

”I’m not a professional, even if I guess the cause, so what?”

Chen Wen muttered, looking at the mother coyote.

At this moment, the mother coyote’s eyes were full of pleading; she had no way to handle the little coyote’s sickness, thus she sought Chen Wen’s help.

”Don’t worry.”

Chen Wen waved his big hand: ”I will help you to the end. Now I plan to treat this illness like a cold and fever. If it gets cured, you don’t have to thank me. If not, don’t blame me either, but I still believe in my luck.”

With that, he gently reached out and stroked the little coyote’s body.

Giving out the blessing of the [Animal Doctor] first.

The little coyote’s body trembled slightly.

After giving the blessing, a sound flashed in Chen Wen’s mind.

He closed his eyes but found the system was making a move.

[Extracting from the natural creation – coyote!]

Wow, it turns out a new entry can be extracted.

Looking at this, Chen Wen felt a bit puzzled.

He had spared the mother coyote’s life and even helped it raise its young, yet up to this point, there were no signs from her.

Instead, her offspring triggered an entry first.

Alright, quickly choose and see what situation the little coyote is in.

[Extracting... Extraction complete!]

[Please choose one among the following three entries]

[Carrion Eater (Gold): You can now consume carrion, and parts of it can be completely digested without harming or affecting your health]

[Note: Carrion is undoubtedly the most easily obtainable food source in this world! — Coyote]

[Strong Adaptability (Gold): No matter what kind of harsh environment or human activities impact you, your adaptability is greatly enhanced]

[Note: Survival of the fittest, adaptation is key, I truly like this saying by humans! — Coyote]

[Opportunity Seizer (Gold): You are now more adept at seizing any chance to enhance your living condition, improving your ability to spot opportunities]

[Note: Want to survive? You must go to any lengths and seize every opportunity! — Coyote]

[Make a choice within one minute or forfeit! Default choice will be the first entry!]

Three in gold!

Wow, these are three gold entries extracted, not given by animal friends!

Chen Wen’s eyes were sparkling with extreme surprise.

Truthfully, the coyote triggering such high-quality entries was somewhat unexpected, yet reasonable.

This animal has incredibly strong survival skills in the wilderness.

To say the least, just take North America, which has been developed till now.

Faced with colonialists’ base hunting, most animal populations rapidly decreased, with many going extinct.

As a predator, coyotes’ fur is valuable, and they tend to attack herders’ livestock.

Thus, humans have never ceased hunting coyotes.

Yet despite such intense hunting pressure, coyotes remain one of the few medium to large-sized animals whose populations actually increased after humans settled in.

The more hunted, the more they multiply, learn from them!

Their ability to seize survival opportunities places them in the forefront of the whole animal circle.

Regarding entries,

Chen Wen chose [Opportunity Seizer].

The reason? Well, he doesn’t like eating carrion and wouldn’t want to.

Strong adaptability he already possesses, so he picked this one.

After choosing the entry, Chen Wen opened his eyes and continued to look at the little coyote.

This little one decided to trust Chen Wen and become his tamed beast.

Therefore, the little coyote grew even closer to Chen Wen.

However, given its current situation, it couldn’t show its closeness.

After pondering for a moment, Chen Wen decided to help the little coyote overcome the difficulty.

He took out his bear skin gloves and put the little coyote inside.

At the same time, Chen Wen placed the little coyote next to the fireplace, allowing the warmth to insulate the coyote.

To boost the little coyote’s immunity, Chen Wen specifically found a piece of musk ox raw meat, ground it into powder, and soaked it in hot water, intending to feed it to the little coyote.

The mother coyote stayed in the shelter for quite a while before Chen Wen drove her back.

She had more than one pup, and without her watching over, the remaining two young coyotes would struggle to survive alone.

...

After the mother coyote left,

Chen Wen briefly cleaned up the shelter and went out to arrange for the animals to hide in the storage room next door to avoid the snowstorm.

Over here, he continued to care for the little coyote.

With Chen Wen’s meticulous care and under the influence of [Animal Doctor],

The little coyote’s condition gradually stabilized.

By nightfall, the little coyote was able to open its eyes and see the surroundings clearly.

Upon seeing Chen Wen, the little coyote let out a soft, affectionate call.

It struggled, trying to snuggle up to Chen Wen.

Chen Wen smiled, reaching out to cradle it in his hands.

Feeling the warmth and scent of Chen Wen, the little coyote slept peacefully.

”It should just be a cold.”

Chen Wen shook his head, never expecting coyotes to catch such an illness.

But linking this to the late-born little coyotes and their mother’s frail condition,

He estimated these little coyotes were likely malnourished, leading to low immunity, coupled with their young age, which caught the cold.

But to be safe, Chen Wen still had the animals rest next door.

Until the following day, when the little coyote’s condition was fully stable, he called the animals back.

By the next morning, although it was still snowing, the intensity seemed to have lessened considerably.

After Chen Wen fed the little coyote some food, the mother coyote’s footsteps once again echoed outside the shelter.

And this time came some other sounds.
