Wilderness Survival with Druid System

When Chen Wen chose to clear the snow.

The other contestants made the same decision.

Everyone was taking advantage of the night, when the snowstorm had abated, to clear the accumulated snow.

However, unlike the enthusiastic Chen Wen.

The others faced with the harsh cold and labor, had more or less accumulated some negative emotions.

Chen Wen, on the other hand, was quite happy doing the work.

On one hand, Chen Wen had many traits to resist the severe cold, which could minimize the impact of the cold on him.

On the other hand, the animals like Wolf Mink and Red Fox, with whom he had a deep emotional bond, also crawled out of the shelter, using their heads to push against the snow, instinctively helping Chen Wen clear the surrounding environment.

Although the clearing efficiency was quite low, with them around, Chen Wen didn’t feel lonely at all.

Negative emotions were almost nonexistent.

The function of communicating with his animal friends saved Chen Wen from the loneliness of long-term survival.

It turned out to be quite useful.

After clearing the snow around the shelter, Chen Wen used a shovel to compact the snow into a snow wall, adding another defensive line to the shelter.

This defensive line was dubbed the ”outer city wall” by Chen Wen.

To live up to this name, Chen Wen also took some time to shape a section of the snow wall into the appearance of an ancient city wall.

Quite fitting.

...

At night, after Chen Wen fell asleep.

The snowstorm regained the momentum it had in the afternoon, with the heavy snow and fierce wind raging through the entire night.

By the time Chen Wen woke up the next morning, the outside snowstorm had somewhat subsided.

Sitting on the bed in the shelter, Chen Wen remarked with a headache: ”There’s a trick to this Canada, huh? The snowstorm I imagined was just like heavy rain, pouring down for dozens of minutes or a few hours tops, right? But in this old Canada, snowstorms actually last for days, it’s ridiculous!”

As a survivor, Chen Wen had no small amount of knowledge about the weather, but he didn’t know much about snowstorms.

Therefore, he wasn’t aware that there could be differences between snowstorms.

In temperate regions, or areas below sixty degrees latitude.

As long as the terrain isn’t mountainous, the duration of snowstorms is generally just like Chen Wen said, lasting for dozens of minutes to a few hours.

In plains between sixty degrees north latitude and the Arctic Circle.

The duration of snowstorms can be longer, sometimes lasting for several days.

Even longer in mountainous areas.

As for regions near the poles, if they have snowstorms.

Those are calculated in weeks!

Despite grumbling about the duration of this snowstorm, Chen Wen still went about his work in an orderly fashion.

He crawled out of the shelter, and the visibility outside was still very low.

Even with various vision-enhancing traits, Chen Wen could only see about two hundred meters ahead.

Beyond that, it was just a vast expanse of white.

”Hmm, it seems that moving within a two hundred-meter radius of the shelter should be no problem.”

Chen Wen said as he continued to shovel snow.

This time he piled up the snow, roughly forming it into large snowballs.

After accumulating a lot of snowballs, Chen Wen stacked these large snowballs outside the outer wall.

Shoveling the snow took Chen Wen a whole morning.

And it was quite torturous.

The effort of shoveling snow was intense, making Chen Wen sweat.

The sweat trapped between his clothes and skin quickly turned cold in the freezing environment.

The feedback to his body was waves of chill.

This bizarre sensation made Chen Wen very uncomfortable.

It wasn’t purely a matter of cold; simple cold didn’t scare Chen Wen, but this mix of cold with heat was truly unpleasant.

Moreover, with Chen Wen’s breath, the moisture he exhaled condensed on his mask.

This time the contestants were all equipped with thermal masks and hoods, making everyone look like bandits.

Chen Wen was no exception.

However, with his breathing, layers of frost formed outside the mask.

His hair was also filled with frost and snowflakes.

Even his eyebrows were frozen over.

Returning to the shelter, he shook off the ice and snow from his face.

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say: ”Man, this is torturous!”

Even with my traits, I’m still feeling this tormented, how must the others be doing in this hellish environment!

...

Just as Chen Wen imagined.

He could barely maintain the same state as before, though a bit tired, he lived quite comfortably within the shelter.

But the others were different.

At Hua Yun’s place, the issue of the shelter being drafty hadn’t been completely resolved.

Cold air continued to seep in through tiny gaps, chilling her to the bone.

This forced Hua Yun to layer up even inside the shelter to avoid hypothermia and catching a cold.

At Adam’s side.

Though he had chopped down some bug-infested trees, branches ripped up by the wind kept striking his shelter.

The snapping sounds increased Adam’s mental stress immensely.

At Vini’s place, he reinforced the supports of his bug-infested shelter, but strange noises persisted.

The creaking sounds exerted even more psychological pressure than Adam’s situation.

Roland was no longer as leisurely as before.

Similar to Chen Wen’s semi-subterranean structure, Roland’s shelter also required constant snow clearing to prevent being buried underneath.

After all, their shelters were quite low.

So, he also started shoveling the snow.

But Roland’s physical strength couldn’t match Chen Wen’s, and the strenuous labor dampened his mood too.

Coupled with previous loneliness and the unknown brought by the snowstorm.

Roland occasionally envisioned scenes of perishing in the snowstorm.

This realization startled Roland.

His mindset was facing serious issues!

Roland decisively gave himself half a day off.

He lay in bed, roasting by the fire, humming some of his favorite tunes.

By the end of the morning, Roland somewhat managed to lift his spirits.

But outside his shelter, the snow was piled ridiculously thick.

Helplessly, Roland left himself just a small airhole.

He didn’t plan on going out.

At Vic’s side.

He took out the satellite phone, intending to give up.

With the gale raging strong, the window he opened had become a channel for the snowstorm.

No matter what method he employed, it was nearly impossible to seal off the window at this moment.

Unless he demolished and rebuilt the wall of the shelter.

But Vic no longer had the strength for that.

Moreover, with the window torn wide open, cold air and snow poured into the shelter.

At the same time, Vic’s fire went out.

This was the most critical blow!

After several failed attempts to rekindle the fire.

Vic completely lost his confidence and courage to continue surviving.

He dialed the satellite phone, his expression dark.

Upon contacting the production team, Vic announced that he would abandon the survival challenge.

Having understood the situation, the production team instructed Vic to stay put and promised to dispatch a rescue team immediately.

Hearing the name of the rescue team provided Vic with considerable relief.

Once the rescue team arrived, he would be completely safe!

A cozy room, hot tea, delicious warm meals...

The disappointment of being eliminated gradually faded, and Vic began to look forward to this period of life to come.

But.

Just as Vic was about to hang up the phone.

The tone of the staff on the other end of the line suddenly changed, from a normal voice to one of surprise, then to one of fear.

Vic was taken aback.

He recognized the shift in emotions from the other side, and a sense of foreboding rose within him.

He quickly pressed the staff for answers, asking what had happened.

A moment later, what the staff said made Vic’s heart sink.

”We’ve lost contact with one of the rescue teams! It’s the one closest to you!”
