Wilderness Survival with Druid System

The staff took a few sips of coffee and checked the historical low temperatures in the northwest region, especially the Great Slave Lake area, on the computer.

After a moment, he frowned slightly.

Aside from the super cold wave of 1947, this temperature has reached the second lowest!

However, measurements can be a bit off.

The temperature measured here is minus forty-five degrees, but the actual perceived temperature for the participants is a bit higher.

When Chen Wen woke up.

Although he felt that the temperature in the shelter had dropped significantly, it wasn’t to an unbearable extent yet.

After adding some wood to the fireplace, Chen Wen opened the door of the shelter slightly.

To Chen Wen’s surprise, after a night of raging winds.

The outside was a mess, but there wasn’t the large-scale snowfall that Chen Wen had expected.

On the contrary, it was eerily calm outside right now.

Especially the sky, which even seemed to be trying to clear up.

”What’s going on?”

Chen Wen fully opened the door, letting bursts of cold air rush into the shelter.

Making the animals shiver a bit from the cold.

Chen Wen wrapped himself in his black bear coat and went outside to carefully observe the sky’s condition.

Apart from the cold, it seemed no different from before.

Could it be just a temperature drop this time?

Chen Wen pondered, noticing that the ground snow had been cleared significantly after yesterday’s winds.

The snow layer wasn’t as thick as it was before the wind.

”That’s strange, what’s going on?”

Although he wasn’t quite sure of the current situation, to be safe, Chen Wen went back inside the shelter.

...

Roland, like Chen Wen, wasn’t concerned about the outside world with stockpiled food and shelter built within rocks.

They just continued executing their plans based on their survival conditions.

But it was different for the others.

Seeing that the originally several centimeters thick snow was blown away significantly.

Adam immediately decided to take a walk around the camp.

To cut down any trees that posed a safety risk.

Vini and Hua Yun undertook similar actions.

Both encountered issues with their shelter and chose to build snow walls around it concurrently.

They used the molds made overnight to compress the snow into sturdy snow bricks, building snow walls around their shelter.

As for Vic, he was working on sealing his windows.

It seemed like nature’s mercy, giving the contestants a chance to breathe and adjust before the full breakout of the blizzard.

But whether they could grasp this opportunity depended on the contestants themselves.

...

On the program team’s side.

Director Greg and his advisors received the latest weather information.

”Hmm, it seems this Arctic cold wave is quite strong, directly passing over the contestants’ survival area, pushing the snowfall zone a bit southward.”

One advisor, with a smile in his eyes, was pleasantly surprised: ”Looks like we don’t have to worry about the contestants.”

The southward shift of the snow line was the best news for them.

However, another advisor with some meteorological knowledge shook his head: ”It’s hard to say, no one knows how it will develop later. If the warm and humid air from the south strengthens and pushes the front back, the snowfall might become more severe!”

This made everyone shake their heads; no one could predict such things.

Greg also discarded the data, leisurely saying, ”Let’s not bother too much, we’ve done everything we can prepare for, and that’s enough. Keep the communications open and ensure the field rescue team is ready for any rescue operations at any time.”

”Understood!”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

...

On Chen Wen’s side.

After returning inside the shelter, to keep himself and the animals occupied.

Chen Wen took up the task of teaching the small coyote to hunt actively.

He placed a rabbit model he made on the ground, imitating the hunting techniques of wild animals.

Demonstrating the hunt in front of the small coyote.

Chen Wen’s actions naturally caught the attention of the beasts in the shelter.

Seeing him teach the small coyote, the group of animals couldn’t help but start commenting.

”Which animal taught you to pounce and bite like that? With such a bite, the prey would have long run away.”

”Hey! Your stealth technique works for you, but not for us!”

”Hey, watch me!”

...

In a light and relaxed atmosphere, the animals began to teach the small coyote, sharing their hunting skills with it.

Chen Wen also enjoyed it like this.

Just as he felt the playfulness had reached a good point, suddenly, some strange sounds came from outside.

The sound was as if something was plummeting to the ground, crackling.

Why does it sound a bit like small hail?

Chen Wen cautiously approached the entrance, opening the door slightly.

Sure enough, outside, small pea-sized hail was falling!

”It’s actually hailing! No, it’s hail mixed with snow!”

Chen Wen’s tone changed slightly.

You could see the pea-sized hail mixed with a large amount of snow that looked like cotton.

What giant snowflakes!

Seeing this, Chen Wen realized that the snow from the blizzard had arrived.

Simultaneously, others were also hit by the hail.

Everyone hurried back into their shelters, worriedly watching the sky.

Soon, after the hail passed, a massive amount of snowflakes, swept up by strong winds, fell from high above.

”It’s here!”

Through the camera, the program team also realized that the blizzard warned by the meteorology department had arrived right on time.

In the contestants’ footage, everything outside had turned into a vast white expanse.

This was due to the snowflakes being swept up by the strong winds, a vast amount of snowflakes obscured the view in the air.

In professional terms, there is a name for this phenomenon—whiteout.

The appearance of this phenomenon causes visibility to drop very low, only a few meters’ distance.

Makes it impossible to see the situation outside clearly.

Leaving the shelter at this moment, one would lose direction after only a few steps.

Plus, with a heavy snowstorm.

The familiar environment would also become extremely unfamiliar.

Going out at this time is almost akin to suicide!

Hence, all contestants stayed in the shelters, not daring to go out.

Chen Wen was no exception.

He even made sure to gather all the animals inside the shelter, preventing any of them from going out.

Chen Wen wasn’t too worried about the moose, as long-lived moose have rich experience dealing with this kind of weather.

And under its guidance, the reindeer were safe too.

...

He waited in the shelter like this until nightfall.

Chen Wen and the animals noticed that the snow outside had become quite thick, with the ground snow rising nearly seven centimeters in just one afternoon.

This level of snowfall is terrifying.

If calculated based on the program team’s data, this blizzard is supposed to last almost seven days.

Snowing nonstop for twenty-four hours each day, with a snowfall of over one centimeter per hour.

The final snow depth would be nearly one meter seventy!

That’s almost as tall as an adult!

And the snowfall intensity will keep changing, it may even reach depths exceeding two meters!

Chen Wen was well aware of this, so when the blizzard temporarily eased, he immediately took things out to clear the snow from the roof and around the shelter a bit.
