Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 343: Chapter 11: Water Lily — [Purification]

”They didn’t chase, hahaha! A big win!”

After running over a hundred meters in one breath, Chen Wen stopped beside a patch of low bushes.

The hippos in the water returned to calm.

They had no idea that the creature that just escaped from right under their noses was the one responsible for angering them.

If they knew.

The hippos wouldn’t let Chen Wen get away so easily.

But now, the big winner was Chen Wen.

”Although I was delayed upon landing and fell into danger, I skillfully used the tools at hand, diverted the hippos, escaped the landing site, and even found some extra food.”

Chen Wen’s face was full of excitement, but his tone carried a hint of reflection: ”This experience has given me two warnings: one is that after landing in an area with many wild beasts, you must keep moving to find a safe place.”

”The second is to make good use of the tools at hand and think more; maybe you’ll find unexpected uses for them?”

Chen Wen’s words inspired quite a few staff members and competitors’ assistants.

This competitor who finished the first wave of attention wasn’t as weak as he seemed.

On the contrary, he was very strong.

He possessed wisdom, strength, and even a bit of luck.

Aside from being a bit inexperienced, he was almost a perfect survivor.

Many other competitors’ assistants had already put away their disdain.

Even Feng Zhong’s assistant was less envious.

Compared to survival, he knew more about survival shows.

This segment of Chen Wen’s landing was very effective for the show.

It could completely serve as the opening clip of the program.

After all, after landing, other competitors were just trudging along, while this side had much more action.

Really... no wonder he absorbed all the traffic, Abel sure has an eye for picking competitors!

Beside Feng Zhong, Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant didn’t look too pleased.

He regretted internally why the hippos didn’t bite this annoying guy to death, yet outwardly, he pretended to be happy for Chen Wen.

Little did he know, Lin Jiawei had long seen through this deceitful Japanese man.

He ignored the Japanese assistant, treating him like air.

This cold rejection made the Japanese assistant feel even more uncomfortable and awkward.

Eventually, he slinked back to Yoshikawa Feng’s monitor, not coming over again.

...

Watching Chen Wen on the screen enjoying the lotus root he acquired, Abel also let out a sigh of relief.

He took a big sip of his somewhat cold coffee.

Comfortable!

The beginning of my buddy’s new career just got better!

And it’s quite impressive!

Perfect!

Didn’t hire Chen Wen for nothing!

...

On Chen Wen’s side.

He sat under a tree and took out a lotus plant.

The lotus root was densely packed; a single lotus had a small bunch of roots.

Chen Wen broke off a white root, brought it to his nose, and sniffed.

”Hmm, the locals say baboons eat these roots, but the smell of this root... it actually stinks a bit.”

In the mud of the Kuanduo River, there’s a lot of rotting animal carcasses, plants, and animal droppings.

Eating it directly isn’t quite suitable.

Although Chen Wen had enhanced digestion and wasn’t afraid of eating problems.

But psychologically, it was a bit hard to accept.

Although Chen Wen’s psychological endurance was considered good.

He still felt it was necessary to clean them, at least so they wouldn’t smell so bad.

Leaving the rest of the lotus and supplies under the tree, Chen Wen took his spear and this bunch of lotus back to the river.

He found a spot where the water flowed gently and looked clear, already settled, and stopped there.

Chen Wen put the lotus roots in the water, washed, and scrubbed them.

After cleaning them, he took them out.

Once he smelled them again, a satisfied smile finally appeared on Chen Wen’s face.

”Not bad, they don’t stink anymore, now they’re edible.”

Pulling out a root, Chen Wen stood by the river and began to eat.

He put the root in his mouth and chewed, a slightly sweet grassy taste burst open in his mouth.

”Huh? Surprisingly tasty!”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say, ”The texture, like bean sprouts, crisp, crunchy!”

Besides tasting good, these things are also quite nutritious.

Rich in starch, carbohydrates, and sugars weren’t lacking.

Although nutrition isn’t lacking now, these nutrients are still important in the late stage of survival.

Consider it a plant found for nutritional supplementation in the late stage, perfect!

Oh, and there’s the entry!

As the system activated, Chen Wen closed his eyes to begin entry selection.

[Target natural creation - lotus, commence plunder!]

[Plundering... Plunder complete!]

[Please choose one from the following three entries]

[Cold Resistant (Purple): You cannot endure cold, survival ability weakens in cold regions, activity slows, life gradually wanes]

[Remark: Cold! So cold! Someone save me! - Lotus]

[Wetland Plant (Purple): You are more adapted to wetland environments, survival ability enhances in wetland areas, impact from mud weakens]

[Remark: Ah! Wetlands! My hometown! The place that tugs at my heartstrings! - Lotus]

[Purification (Purple): Soaking in water, can slowly expel accumulated toxins from the body, gradually enhance spirit, reduce fatigue, mood will improve]

[Remark: Purifying waters is our lotus’s instinct, and it’s our contribution to nature - Lotus]

[Please choose within one minute or forfeit! When time expires, the system will automatically select the first entry!]

Three purples.

For a plant, that’s rather high quality.

The main thing is, there are two positive entries, and both are quite useful.

Chen Wen deliberated for about thirty seconds.

This time, he really wanted them all.

But unfortunately, unlike a booming game, the system doesn’t occasionally glitch.

As long as you’re quick, you can choose them all.

Still, you can only choose one!

With the countdown nearing its end, the system began to prompt; Chen Wen finally chose ’Purification’.

This entry may seem not very strong, but the attributes it provides are what survival lacks.

Detoxifying, let’s not mention it.

Chen Wen currently fears poison the most; it’s the only thing he can’t counteract.

Even the acquired entry [Tooth Tongue], after experimenting, Chen Wen found that it mainly screens for seafood.

And it can’t screen out poisonous things, only those that are inedible, like stones, pebbles.

Poison, in front of this entry, is considered edible.

So previously, Chen Wen didn’t dare to eat indiscriminately because he couldn’t counteract the toxins.

But with this entry, some things can be tried.

Of course, it’s still essential to be cautious; otherwise, trying it out may lead to demise.

Apart from detoxification, this entry can enhance spirit and reduce fatigue.

This acts directly on the mental state, truly deserving of the name purification.

In the late stages of many survival experiences, mental fatigue far exceeds physical fatigue.

Some survivors even abandon survival due to mental exhaustion.

This bonus is quite useful for Chen Wen right now because he feels fatigue too.

Last time in the Yukon was the same.

But since Hua Yun was there to chat, along with the lynx and Golden Eagle to ease the boredom, and with the final treasure being too eye-catching.

This fatigue wasn’t very apparent.

But living alone for dozens of days, away from human life.

The fatigue then becomes quite severe, possibly affecting the survivor’s mental health.

Ed, who accomplished the feat of trekking the Amazon in his previous life, underwent long-term psychological treatment after the trek.

That’s how he recovered.

The final mood improvement is useful as an add-on.

But its utility isn’t particularly significant.
