Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 306: Chapter 129: Return

Spent about seven days at the camp.

Chen Wen endowed the Snowy Owl with [communication].

But after obtaining this ability, the Snowy Owl rarely used it.

Its nature remained somewhat aloof, responding little to the lynx’s curiosity and the Golden Eagle’s chattiness.

It only spoke a word or two where absolutely necessary.

This made Chen Wen feel like he might have spent those ten inheritance points on the Snowy Owl a bit too extravagantly.

At noon,

Chen Wen noticed the helicopter returning.

The helicopter had come and gone several times over these days, and he had gotten used to it.

But this time, bodies accompanied the helicopter back.

These bodies caused a commotion in the camp.

”Everyone, don’t panic. These people are those mercenaries.”

It was the late-comer Dio who jumped down from the cabin, soothing the crowd and letting some injured mercenaries come forward to identify.

Soon, the identities of these bodies were confirmed.

After identifying the bodies, Dio ordered people to drag them out of the camp for burial.

He gestured for Jiao to speak in the tent.

...

”There are still some bodies we didn’t bring back, probably all mercenaries.”

Dio said with a somewhat stern expression: ”After they left this camp, they didn’t go far before a skirmish broke out, leading to many deaths.”

Jiao remained silent, waiting for Dio to continue.

”But we haven’t found the gold and the mine map.”

Dio said disappointedly.

”As expected, these people should have only partially died, and the others took the gold and the mine map away.”

Jiao said.

After pondering for a moment, he continued: ”Search along the Yukon River. This morning, I called the rescue team. They’ll be here in a couple of days, and we should prepare for the evacuation.”

Evacuation signifies the end of this search for the gold and mine map.

By then, they would only be able to send out small groups to search for mercenaries or wait passively at the second town.

The chances of retrieving the mine map are slim.

”Looks like Mr. Belmont will feel troubled for a few days.”

Dio sighed: ”Mr. Belmont spent quite a bit this time.”

”Throwing money into water, you’d at least hear a splash, but now there’s not even a sound.”

Jiao was equally helpless.

Initially, everything went smoothly, but the mercenaries hijacked the plan.

Now, the remaining mercenaries have completely disappeared, nowhere to be found.

He had nothing more to say.

”Alright, organize the personnel and prepare to evacuate.”

...

On the eighth day at noon, the rescue team arrived.

The camp’s sizable group, riding on dog sleds brought by the rescue team, followed the frozen Yukon River back to the second town.

This Yukon journey lasted close to three months.

Returning to the second town.

They took the bus prepared by the filming crew.

Chen Wen and the contestants returned to the hotel they stayed on the first day, reuniting with their assistants.

From afar, Chen Wen spotted Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang, with Jiang Chang still waving.

Chen Wen waved back, intending to approach.

But he was stopped by the staff.

They kindly reminded Chen Wen of the three wild animals on his shoulder and head!

Chen Wen quickly handed the lynx to the staff and whistled. The chasing and playing Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl in the air descended.

”Mr. Belmont has already scheduled the procedures for you. As long as they are registered and undergo a simple check, they can become your legal pets.”

The staff reminded Chen Wen: ”However, in three days, you’ll need to handle the procedures with us, and other staff will remind you then.”

”Of course, thank you very much!”

After Chen Wen finished speaking, he turned to the Golden Eagle and whispered a few words.

Watching them being loaded into a black-clothed cage and put onto the car, Chen Wen finally shifted his gaze.

”Having money sure is nice.”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say.

Hua Yun nodded slightly upon hearing this.

Legal pets, now that’s a clever concept.

...

No need to elaborate on catching up.

After a brief rest, Chen Wen called Liu Yu.

He recapped part of what happened during the trip.

Of course, he didn’t mention the treasure-hunting aspect, having already made up his mind on that matter.

However, during the call, he indirectly inquired about Mr. Belmont’s character from Liu Yu.

Liu Yu didn’t know much about Belmont.

But he objectively said: ”I’ve spoken to him over the phone before, seemed okay, but you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, nor just listen to what they say. If you really want to know someone, observe their actions.”

”This time for your rescue operation, I felt he was quite capable and responsible, yet his intentions were not exactly upright. Why are you asking about this?”

Chen Wen, hearing this, used the reason he’d thought of beforehand: ”Well, since the survival is over and he didn’t achieve his purpose, I was wondering if he’d flake on the agreed payment.”

”Haha, that shouldn’t be the case, he’s a businessman, and values trust, especially over there in Yukon, not many big businessmen, so credibility is valued. But I remember you had some interaction with that... big boss, who seems quite familiar with Belmont. Why don’t you ask him?”

Big boss?

Do I even know any big boss?

Chen Wen thought, then suddenly remembered a name: ”Oh! Are you talking about Lv Guocheng?”

Lv Guocheng, the big boss of an outdoor equipment company and a seasoned fisherman, also Chen Wen’s teammate on the deserted island.

Before leaving, he even suggested the idea of investing in Chen Wen to shoot his wilderness survival show.

”Yes, yes, that’s him.”

Liu Yu said: ”Lv Guocheng cooperated with Belmont before. It seems the outdoor gear you’re wearing was bought by Belmont from him.”

Chen Wen paused, glancing at the jacket’s label he was wearing.

It really was!

”What a coincidence?”

Chen Wen chuckled.

Liu Yu laughed: ”Not a coincidence, after Lv Guocheng participated in the island survival, his company boomed. With its already high international reputation, the boss going personally for survival marketing further boosted its fame. Belmont seeking him for a large purchase of outdoor gear is quite normal.”

”Keep track of the time, and ask Lv Guocheng.”

Chen Wen replied, taking note of this matter.

He thought for a moment and added: ”Also, Mr. Liu, I now have three more animals...”

”You rascal, wherever you go, you end up adopting wild animals, don’t you?”

Liu Yu laughed: ”Don’t worry, I’ve already contacted someone. This time, you won’t need to do much; someone will reach out to you directly.”

”Your beast taming skills are indeed impressive, though they also bring quite a bit of trouble.”

Chen Wen chuckled, avoiding the topic.

After ending the call, Chen Wen began looking for Lv Guocheng’s contact information.

”Speaking of which, since that farewell on the deserted island, I wonder how those brothers are doing. Surviving two straight rounds myself, it’s been more than half a year; it’s about time I reach out.”

Chen Wen said this and planned to contact each of them.

He thought about it and directly sent an emoticon to their group chat of ten people.

Then, he asked: [Brothers, haven’t been in touch for a while, what’s everyone up to?]

After sending it, Chen Wen felt the timing wasn’t quite right.

Calculating the time difference, it was about one in the morning back home.

But just as he put down his phone, he already heard the notification sound.

Unemployed Zhuo: [Mr. Chen, haven’t you slept? It’s so late?]

Successfully losing weight Wang: [Playing games! Let’s go wild! The nightlife is only just beginning!]

Low-key Lu: [Indeed only just beginning, but Mr. Chen, your IP address doesn’t seem to be nightlife, does it?]

AAA veteran tour guide Yan Bian: [Boy, Canada? Did you just start surviving or just finished?]

Little Chen: [Hehe, Mr. Yan guessed it right, I’m in Yukon, just climbed out of the forest.]

Shan: [Is it dangerous? I saw videos online, seems there’re quite a few bears in Yukon.]

Little Chen: [Mr. Shan hasn’t slept yet? Indeed, lots of bears, but the meat isn’t that tasty. Got quite a few bear teeth this time, anyone interested?]

The group chat went silent.

Quite a few brothers lying in bed playing on their phones couldn’t help but sit up straight, looking at the picture of bear teeth Chen Wen posted.

Darn!

It’s only been a few days, how come he’s already hunting bears!
