Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 328: Chapter 17: News from the Island

Most of the problems in this world have no answers.

Jiang Xue thought for a long time, but couldn’t figure out how Chen Wen managed to gain the trust of a Northeast Tiger and become friends with it in such a short time.

She gave up thinking about it.

When the zoo employees returned to work on the fifth day of the lunar year.

Chen Wen received a return-to-work gift meticulously prepared by Jiang Xue.

There was a bulging red envelope and a hand-carved ornament.

Along with the gift, Chen Wen also received a surprising piece of news.

From the distant Yukon Territory.

Belmont sent a message, informing Chen Wen that an ancient family in the Western Pacific is selling an island.

”Is the information reliable?”

Chen Wen sat on the ground, with a bobcat and a lynx on his legs, asking uncertainly.

Belmont explained, ”Very reliable. I have a jewelry cooperation with that family, and this is news I got from the current head of their family.”

”The island has been vacant for a long time, and their family’s economic situation hasn’t been good in recent years. I also mentioned someone interested in buying an island with cash, so they approached me.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen asked, ”What’s the situation with this island?”

”The area is around 120 hectares, its shape is an irregular ellipse, and it’s located in a tropical region of Southeast Asia. It’s about a three-hour boat ride to the nearest human settlement. There’s an airport on the island built in the 70s, which can accommodate two private planes simultaneously.”

Belmont paused, and the sound of flipping through papers came from his side.

Then he continued, ”The infrastructure on the island was built last century; it’s usable, but if you want to live comfortably, you’ll definitely need to renovate.”

”There aren’t many wild animals on the island; the ecology is quite decent. Although it’s in an earthquake zone, there haven’t been particularly severe geological disasters around. You may need to be prepared during storm seasons. I’ll have someone forward the video to you later for you to take a look at.”

Chen Wen quickly agreed.

Just from listening to Belmont’s description, he felt this island was quite nice.

”Apart from these basic details, the seller only accepts cash transactions, and the payment must be made in full at once.”

Belmont added, ”I can vouch for the seller’s character; they’re a very reputable business family.”

Chen Wen nodded slightly.

It seemed the other party was really short on money.

”How much are they asking for?”

”Converted to your Hua Country currency, about 50 million.”

”Damn, that’s a hefty ask!”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say.

He had seen the prices of several islands; the average price for an island of this size is generally around 30 million, with fluctuations of no more than 5 million depending on its geographical location.

This island is in Southeast Asia, and it’s quite a distance by boat.

Logically, it should belong to a less desirable location, but the price is so much higher.

At this point, Belmont lowered his voice and said, ”The price of this island is high because it doesn’t belong to any country.”

”Not belonging to any country?”

Chen Wen asked in confusion.

Belmont hummed in acknowledgement over the phone and explained, ”Most islands belong to surrounding countries, requiring you to pay taxes and potentially undergo inspections annually after purchase, but this island is different. It belongs directly to that family; I’m not sure of the specific reasons, but it’s related to last century’s wars.”

”The seller specifically asked me to tell you that this island is not under the control of any country or organization, and its geographical location is also not particularly important, giving it a very low presence.”

Chen Wen hissed — that statement hit home for him.

He preferred such low-key islands.

Chen Wen sat straight and said, ”Tell the seller that I’m interested, but I’ll need to see the video materials they sent before proceeding with negotiations.”

”Of course, if you’re highly interested, they also invite you to visit the island at any time.”

Chen Wen hung up the phone.

After a while, he received the video materials sent by Belmont.

The video was shot recently, offering a drone’s aerial view of the island.

It’s a very ordinary tropical island, with vegetation primarily composed of tropical plants.

The highest point of the island’s terrain is in the northwest, which is a rocky mountain.

There’s a lighthouse built on the mountain.

The overall island terrain is relatively flat, with about thirty percent developed.

The visible structures are some wooden buildings with an architectural style reminiscent of the last century and a grassland.

There seem to be a few horses on the grassland.

Apart from that, there are quite a lot of reefs around the island, making accessibility fairly average.

Only one built pier can accommodate larger ships for travel.

After watching it once, Chen Wen remained quite satisfied.

Tropical region, away from humans, low-key and hidden.

It fit his preferences perfectly.

After watching all the video materials, Chen Wen decisively contacted Belmont: Very nice, I plan to visit the island.

After a while, Belmont arranged a time with Chen Wen.

Chen Wen found Jiang Xue to ask for leave, and his mysterious demeanor made Jiang Xue a bit curious.

Three days later.

Chen Wen flew to Southeast Asia.

There, he met with Belmont and took a helicopter to this private island.

...

Just after disembarking.

The unique warmth and humidity of the tropical region came rushing in.

Chen Wen felt like he was back on the island again.

Their current location was the airport, situated in the island’s southeast.

After alighting, Chen Wen met with the seller, Mr. Edmond.

Upon seeing Chen Wen, Edmond couldn’t help but exclaim, ”My God, could my guest be such a young Oriental?”

He spoke while glancing at Belmont.

Belmont introduced with a smile, ”Though young, this guest is wealthier and more generous than most of the old folks. This is Mr. Chen Wen. Chen Wen, this is Mr. Edmond.”

”Mr. Edmond, pleasure to meet you.”

Chen Wen politely extended his hand.

Edmond also extended his hand, grasping Chen Wen’s hand firmly.

”Well, let’s skip the small talk; I have the tour arrangements ready for Mr. Chen.”

Edmond went straight to the point, ”In the morning, we will tour the developed parts of the island. At noon, we will have lunch at the estate, and in the afternoon, Mr. Chen can explore freely under the accompaniment of the butler. How does that sound, Mr. Chen?”

Chen Wen nodded, smiling, ”Very well arranged.”

Following this, under Edmond’s guidance, Chen Wen began the morning tour with him.

To be honest, Chen Wen wasn’t very enthusiastic about the developed parts of the island.

No matter how the Edmund Family developed it, he planned to demolish it and start over.

After all, the island was to accommodate not only humans but also animals.

So, after about an hour of the tour, Edmond noticed Chen Wen’s disinterest.

He politely asked, ”Mr. Chen doesn’t seem very satisfied with my arrangements?”

Chen Wen shook his head and said, ”No, I’m quite satisfied, but Mr. Edmond, I’m more concerned about the overall situation of the island more than just its developed parts.”

”You may not be aware, but I’m purchasing this island for some special creatures.”

Special creatures?

Edmond looked at Belmont, puzzled, as he hadn’t heard about this before.

Belmont coughed, timely explaining, ”Mr. Chen is a wildlife conservation enthusiast who loves wild animals. He’s buying this island mainly to house various animals from around the world.”

Upon hearing this, Edmond understood.

There are many wealthy individuals with countless unique preferences in this world.

He understood well.

Thus, Edmond said, ”Then we need to adjust the tour itinerary; I’ll accompany Mr. Chen to inspect the entire island.”

After changing the tour format.

Chen Wen took the lead.

The group began exploring the entire island, with quite an intense level of activity.

Belmont, not being good at physical activities, soon returned to the villa on the island to rest.

Edmond was also exhausted, but he pushed through to show the whole island to Chen Wen since he wanted to sell it.

Finally, by evening.

Following a very lavish dinner.

Chen Wen cheerfully told Edmond, ”I’m very satisfied, but we need to negotiate the price further.”
