Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 331: Chapter 20: After the New Year—Meeting Friends and Preparing for Battle

Jiang Xue gently rubbed her head, unsure of how to respond.

The shocks Chen Wen had given her over the past few days were indeed overwhelming.

”For now, I still need to focus on this zoo...”

”No rush.”

Chen Wen didn’t push Jiang Xue for an immediate response, instead saying, ”The director can think about it and reply later, after all, I haven’t even started on my end yet.”

After speaking, Chen Wen said, ”Then I won’t disturb Director Jiang’s rest anymore. In a few days, I’ll have someone send the sponsorship directly to Director Jiang.”

”I’m setting off for Namibia these days, preparing for the next survival challenge, so I won’t be able to come then.”

Jiang Xue said in surprise, ”So soon?”

”Yes, I need to adapt to the local environment and time difference in advance, so I have to make a trip earlier.”

Chen Wen explained with a smile, ”Moreover, this time’s survival also needs some preliminary filming and such.”

Jiang Xue seemed to remember something, and said with a smile, ”Trash talk?”

”Ah hahaha, it is indeed.”

Chen Wen was a bit embarrassed: ”This segment is pretty popular with foreigners, so I’m just going with the flow.”

Suppressing her laughter, Jiang Xue nodded, ”Alright, take care. I’ll look after your animals well.”

”With Director Jiang taking care of the animals, I’m definitely at ease.”

Chen Wen laughed, ”But the Northern Hawk Owl has finally slimmed down, it can’t gain back the weight.”

”Okay.”

Speaking of this, Jiang Xue felt a bit embarrassed.

Chen Wen didn’t say much more and took his leave.

Before leaving, Chen Wen met with the animals again, telling them he’d be away for about two months before he could return.

Even though they didn’t quite understand how long two months was.

The animals still bid farewell to Chen Wen in their own ways.

The Northern Hawk Owl painfully plucked a feather from its tail and handed it to Chen Wen.

This was inspired by watching Chen Wen pluck feathers from a wren.

Chen Wen accepted the Northern Hawk Owl’s gift with mixed emotions.

The Snowy Owl and Golden Eagle advised Chen Wen to make good use of flying techniques.

To avoid those frightening ground creatures through flight.

The Bobcat taught Chen Wen some methods to hide himself.

With the lynx hunting techniques imparted, the Bobcat had summarized a set of wilderness survival solutions.

Chen Wen said he would definitely give it a try.

Meanwhile, the Canadian lynx surreptitiously told Chen Wen how to escape faster.

In short, every animal made its best effort to help Chen Wen.

Chen Wen was quite touched.

After bidding farewell to each animal, Chen Wen went to the capital to meet Feng Zhong at the association.

...

Within the association.

Feng Zhong was full of energy, whispering about something with Hua Yun.

Seeing Chen Wen approach, both smiled and nodded at him.

”Morning, you two.”

Chen Wen also grinned and asked, ”Where’s Mr. Liu? Wasn’t he the one who called us here?”

”The president is having a meeting at headquarters, he’ll be here later.”

Hua Yun said, looking at Chen Wen, ”How’s the preparation going?”

”Pretty good, the information Mr. Qu provided was very useful, I’ve gone through it several times.”

Chen Wen said.

Besides spending time with the animals over the New Year, Chen Wen mostly looked over the materials sent by Qu Yong.

Especially about the animals of the Caprivi District, he could recite about ninety percent of it.

Additionally, there were the rules for this survival.

The rules sent by Abel were almost entirely within Qu Yong’s predictions, and he had found a lot of loopholes in them.

One of the biggest loopholes was that contestants could use the drones for filming as reconnaissance.

This essentially gave contestants a god’s-eye view, greatly enhancing their capabilities.

Especially for Chen Wen.

”Mr. Qu really put his heart into it.”

Feng Zhong nodded approvingly from the side.

Chen Wen was slightly taken aback.

Wasn’t Feng Zhong a top follower of Qu Yong?

Why did it sound like they weren’t familiar with each other according to Feng Zhong?

He instinctively glanced at Hua Yun, who gave him a significant look.

Having survived together in the Yukon for so long, there was a certain tacit understanding between them.

Chen Wen didn’t say much, just made a note of it.

After some awkward small talk.

Feng Zhong had something to attend to, so he left first.

Chen Wen and Hua Yun stayed behind.

Chen Wen casually asked, ”What are your plans next?”

Hua Yun relaxed, lying back on the couch, scrolling through his phone, ”What else? Prepping for ’Alone in the Wilderness,’ this is my last chance, have to take it seriously.”

”How are you prepping?”

”Heading to Canada in advance, around Great Slave Lake, to adapt to the environment early.”

Hua Yun said, ”I’m not like a naturally talented contestant like you who can quickly adapt, so I have to put in the work ahead of time.”

”So, you don’t plan on participating in any other survival challenges for the first half of the year?”

Chen Wen curiously asked, ”Won’t your fans leave if you do that?”

”Ah, if I win an ’Alone in the Wilderness’ championship, they’ll all come back.”

Hua Yun thought it through.

Hearing this, Chen Wen couldn’t help but chuckle a couple of times.

Indeed, that’s how it is.

Most of the time, the audience is more inclined towards watching the survival videos or live streams of champions.

If Hua Yun could win the ’Alone in the Wilderness’ championship, it would certainly be a significant boost to his streaming career.

But Chen Wen doesn’t need to worry about these things now.

Being financially independent, he only has to focus on surviving and leveling up.

After discussing these things, Chen Wen asked, ”What did that look you gave earlier mean?”

”Ahem.”

Hua Yun cleared his throat, glanced outside, confirmed there weren’t many people around, and said, ”Mr. Feng is quite ambitious. After becoming a vice president, he and Mr. Qu are equals.”

”To put it in internet terms, Mr. Feng is the kind of person who maintains a professional relationship during work by addressing positions, keeping it all professional.”

Chen Wen instantly understood.

”Also, you shouldn’t completely trust Mr. Feng during this survival.”

As someone with no vested interest, Hua Yun had no qualms saying, ”Mr. Feng has a strong competitive spirit too, and there can only be one championship winner this time. If he feels greatly threatened by you, he might join forces with others to take you down.”

Uh, this.

Chen Wen was slightly taken aback.

”Don’t look at me, this kind of thing has happened before.”

Hua Yun smirked, looking like someone who’s been through it all.

”It wasn’t you, was it?”

Chen Wen asked with a smile.

”No, it was another retired veteran, in the second season of ’Alone in the Wilderness,’ you can find out by watching it.”

”Got it, I’ll keep that in mind.”

Chen Wen acknowledged, firmly remembering the matter.

After a while, Liu Yu hurriedly arrived.

Seeing Chen Wen, he cheerfully said, ”Chen Wen, I heard you’ve been volunteering at the zoo?”

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun gave Chen Wen a surprised glance.

But said nothing.

Chen Wen sheepishly said, ”President, you’re really well-informed, but before we get into that, what did you call me for?”

”Hey, you’re trying to change the subject, aren’t you?”

Liu Yu chuckled but didn’t press further.

He reminded, ”The reason I called you is to give you a little reminder.”

”Safety first in this survival, no matter what, don’t get hurt. You’re a contender for the ’Alone in the Wilderness’ championship, you mustn’t jeopardize it for this kind of lesser competition.”

”Three-none means no honor, no authority, no significance.”

Chen Wen nodded earnestly.

He was very clear about this.

So he was determined to complete the survival challenge, searching for special animals while ensuring his own safety.

”Additionally, this survival is a little test for you.”

Liu Yu said with a smile, ”Haven’t forgotten your spear skills, have you?”

”When volunteering, I’ve been practicing all the time.”

Chen Wen replied with a smile.

Hua Yun glanced over again.

Since when did he learn spear skills from the president?

”Great, do your best. I await your good news!”

Liu Yu said appreciatively.
