Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 339: Chapter 8: Perks

[The inheritor voluntarily starts survival, surrounded by wilderness environment, cultivation begins!]

[This Wilderness Cultivation location is: Caprivi Strip]

[Please select the basic entries for this cultivation, or exit directly if not selecting]

[Current Inheritance Points: 380]

Entering entry selection phase.

Chen Wen began choosing according to the pre-prepared plan.

The free entries, those extracted from befriending animals, must be taken.

[Disguise][Feather (Little Owl)][Hunt][Wings (Golden Eagle)][Night Shadow][Extreme Vision][Intimidate]

All seven entries activated.

Next were the stealth ambush entries Chen Wen personally chose.

First, the most familiar old trio.

[Swift][Enhanced Digestion][Delicate Little Bird]

These three entries are must-choose.

Boost speed and reflexes, ensure gastrointestinal health, enhance shelter building ability.

Unless there are more suitable higher-level entries encountered later, Chen Wen won’t change these three choices.

Next, Chen Wen chose [Fluff (Mexico-backed)].

This entry is equally important.

In such a crisis-ridden region, sleeping too deeply at night is not advisable.

Otherwise, when an elephant comes trampling, or a hippopotamus wanders ashore.

If you are in deep sleep at that time, you may enter a slumber from which you can never wake.

Therefore, vigilance at night is essential.

This entry is very suitable, the fluff, like tiny hairs, will detect any slight movement and alert Chen Wen.

Moreover, this fluff can also serve as an emergency defense mechanism.

In critical moments, rub and flick the fluff.

As long as the attacking creature breathes and external skin is exposed, it will be affected.

Next is [Iron Bear Trio].

This entry, provided by the North American black bear, is quite useful, with excellent practical effects.

Before the game, Chen Wen was aware he would encounter animals in Caprivi and would run a lot.

And this entry, which enhances escape ability, is quite apt for the situation.

Select!

Then there’s the core entry for stealth, [Hide].

Provided by the coconut crab, though it’s a blue entry, its practical effects are decent.

It forms the core of the stealth ambush style together with Night Shadow.

The final entry, Chen Wen chose the life-saving [Thick Skin].

This entry is entirely for guarding against any possible attacks.

Consider it an insurance entry.

Ultimately, after applying a 30% discount to all entries and rounding down, a total of 303 Inheritance Points were spent.

Chen Wen had 77 Inheritance Points left for backup.

Entry selection complete.

As the sealed entries gradually recovered, Chen Wen slowly opened his eyes and gazed around.

Survival, officially begins!

...

With all the contestants landing.

The contestants’ assistants also arrived at the monitoring hall.

This will be where they work for the next month.

Among the contestants, professional survivors bring along two assistants.

Less professional ones, like Jamie, have assistants that are also staff members.

At the moment, the assistants were all focused on their respective contestants’ post-landing situations, while the local Black guide in short sleeves was shuttling among the computers.

Checking on everyone’s situation.

However, as he approached Lin Jiawei.

Seeing Chen Wen standing still on the screen, the guide exclaimed in the local dialect.

Lin Jiawei glanced at the guide and politely asked, ”Hello, Mr. Guide, what did you just say?”

The guide scratched his head, seemingly just realizing he was in work mode.

He switched to somewhat awkward English and said, ”Is this your contestant? Why is he standing still?”

Lin Jiawei thought for a bit; he hadn’t heard the reason from Chen Wen.

But Chen Wen indeed likes standing still for a few minutes after landing.

Lin Jiawei asked, ”Is there a problem? It seems to be his personal preference.”

The guide explained, ”It’s a bit dangerous because the place he is now surrounded by rivers, the animals in the river were temporarily scared away by the helicopter, but as the helicopter flies away, they will soon return. If your contestant stays in place for too long, he will be surrounded by the animals.”

Lin Jiawei was taken aback by this.

He looked at the view provided by the drone, and his heart skipped a beat.

In the wide river not far away, a group of about twenty hippos was quietly approaching Chen Wen.

More precisely, returning to their original home.

On the other side, several Nile crocodiles were also swimming back.

And one of them seemed to have spotted Chen Wen, slowly entering the water from the bank, causing gentle ripples.

Looking at the scenes unfolding before him, Lin Jiawei gulped nervously.

He looked at the guide and asked, ”How dangerous is this situation? Can he escape?”

This question puzzled the guide a little.

He scratched his head for a while and said, ”If undiscovered, it’s relatively safe, but if discovered, both the Nile crocodile and hippos are very dangerous, to the point of being life-threatening, with no time for a rescue.”

”Hippos do not like other creatures near their territory, especially humans. They often chase us away, sometimes pursuing our boats when our tribe is fishing.”

”And their combat power is quite formidable. Humans stand no chance against hippos in a one-on-one confrontation without firearms.”

The guide’s voice wasn’t soft; everyone around heard it.

Director Abel even put down the coffee he just picked up, looking very tense.

The program’s effects were all depending on Chen Wen, and if he gets eliminated, much of the initial filming would be wasted.

Is my new venture going to end just as it starts?

Abel was a bit pessimistic.

In this emotional state, Abel was fiddling with the satellite phone, hesitating whether to instruct the guide team patrolling around the contestants to intervene.

To drive the beasts away.

This is a method used by many survival programs.

Drive the beasts away or close by to achieve program effects.

The rarer the wildlife area, the more so.

...

The other contestants’ assistants, hearing the guide’s words, quickly checked on their respective contestants.

Soon, many assistants breathed a sigh of relief.

Their expressions also relaxed a bit.

Most contestants weren’t in as dangerous a spot as Chen Wen; they landed by the riverbank, or even further from the water.

Moreover, after landing, their expressions were panicked.

They clearly were not very adapted and lacked a sense of security.

This led them to act immediately.

Avoiding the situation Chen Wen was facing.

But Chen Wen was different.

Choosing entries after landing was a habit for him, and having survived many times, he wasn’t nervous.

This caused Chen Wen to have an inexplicable sense of relaxation.

Leading him to comfortably stay put.

In summary, the assistants of the other contestants were rather gloating right now, even Feng Zhong’s assistant wasn’t an exception.

Since the traffic flow was presently, Chen Wen consumed the most.

Everyone was happy to see someone like this eliminated first.

Even though on the surface, Feng Zhong’s assistant showed a nervous and sympathetic face.

But inside, he was quite pleased.

Yoshikawa Feng’s assistant, a Japanese uncle.

Also deliberately came over at this moment, visibly lamenting over Chen Wen’s situation.

As if Chen Wen’s elimination was already set in stone.

This made Lin Jiawei a bit sick.

However, Lin Jiawei, while nervous, wasn’t worried, as he got used to Chen Wen’s style after working together for so long.

This guy is a walking program effect, without some incidents, making you blush, sweat a bit.

He wouldn’t be Chen Wen.

And on the screen, Chen Wen finally moved.

Glanced around again.

The scenery was nice, the environment good, situation...

Not right!
