Chapter 743: Chapter 53: Clash

The Lock of Heaven has the Counter Shield tightly wrapped around it. Inside, Su Xiao looks at the King of Heroes some dozens of meters away, having nearly slain him moments ago, though ultimately failing.

Though the King of Heroes is arrogant, after this incident, he certainly won’t allow Su Xiao to approach him easily again.

Drip, drip.

Blood drips from the King of Heroes’ severed arm, a few drops splattering onto his face. He hates the warm sensation, all while ignoring the intense pain in his body.

”You, have wounded this king.”

This time, the King of Heroes refrains from using the term ”mongrel” repetitively, switching to ”you” instead. Su Xiao showed his strength just seconds ago, nearly decapitating the King of Heroes. Calling him a ”mongrel” after being disarmed by one? What would that make him, a dog or a mongrel?

Strength is the true measure of reason; the strong are always respected, no matter where they are.

The King of Heroes retracts his disdainful stance, behind him spreading waves of golden space. With his only remaining left hand, he grips the Sword of Separation of Heaven and Earth, ready to go all out. Not doing so now would render him a fool.

Yet to be stained by the Holy Grail’s mud, the King of Heroes isn’t stupid. In fact, he is quite clever, a ruler who could govern a nation surely isn’t a fool.

From afar, Su Xiao observes the King of Heroes. There’s no doubt, this is his biggest foe in this Derivative World. Once serious, the King of Heroes is incredibly strong.

The Lock of Heaven hasn’t bound Su Xiao, but if he lowers his Counter Shield, it certainly will. At that point, he’d be riddled with Noble Phantasms.

Su Xiao cannot be sure if he can break free from the Lock of Heaven, but he knows he can cut through it. The Lock of Heaven is an entity of ”Law God”, meaning the higher the divinity, the harder it is to escape.

Ordinary cleaves might not sever several strands of the Lock of Heaven, but Su Xiao, mastering the Sword Technique Master for so long, has developed his moves. Though many of them are impractical, gems like Ring Break exist.

Apart from Ring Break, Su Xiao has been developing another move. Although still under development, it’s nearly ready.

This isn’t a skill augmented by Paradise Coin; it’s something Su Xiao developed himself.

Standing inside the Counter Shield, Su Xiao sheathes Dragon Slash, gripping the hilt with his right hand and the scabbard with his left, positioning Dragon Slash horizontally before him.

”Destiny decides all, whether I can use this move, it’s up to fate.”

Su Xiao exhales deeply, converting 300 mana points into Blue Steel Shadow Energy, wrapping Dragon Slash within its scabbard.

The long knife is slowly unsheathed, the speed extremely slow, and Su Xiao’s aura becomes sharper.

Swish.

Faint cuts appear on the ground near Su Xiao’s feet, even before he’s swung the blade, indicating the power when it does land.

Su Xiao’s body crouches slightly as if ready to leap forward, his leg muscles taut.

”This isn’t good.”

Sensing Su Xiao’s sharp aura, the Conqueror King grabs Master Webber, moving several steps to the distance. Saber gives Alice a meaningful glance, signaling for the refined woman to retreat with her. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

”Such presence...”

Now serious, the King of Heroes fixates on Su Xiao. This time, the golden ripples behind him contain high-level Noble Phantasms, the Sword of Separation of Heaven and Earth pointed forward.

As the two are about to clash once again, the King of Heroes’ expression shifts suddenly.

”Orders from someone like you, expecting me to retreat?”

Something unknown causes the King of Heroes to rage, not just rage, but fury. Su Xiao severing his hand didn’t provoke such anger, as it wasn’t worth it. But now, he is furious.

”Tokiomi, you are quite brave.”

The Sword of Separation of Heaven and Earth in the King of Heroes’ hand disappears, along with the golden ripples behind him.

”Today, this is the end.”

As he speaks, his body gradually fades, eventually dissipating into light particles — Tokiomi Tohsaka used a command seal to make him retreat. Although one arm was severed, it wasn’t a major issue; Tokiomi, an adept magician, could restore such severed limbs comfortably.

The King of Heroes is yet unaware that a surprise awaits him. Tokiomi’s magical prowess is not low, but can he truly restore an arm severed by Dragon Slash so easily?

Upon the King of Heroes’ departure, the Lock of Heaven on the Counter Shield vanishes. Su Xiao dismantles the shield; with the King gone, there is no need for that move now — especially when the success rate is only 70%.

The decision to use a not-fully-developed move on the King of Heroes was due to its speed. Even if the enemy stood dozens of meters away, Su Xiao could instantly reach them, and the power far surpasses Ring Break, being his most potent attack, without peer.

With the King of Heroes gone, the intense atmosphere relaxes a bit, yet the other Heroic Spirits remain wary of Su Xiao.

Su Xiao’s previous blade left a profound impression; if aimed to assassinate a Master, none could likely survive his blade.

Three Heroic Spirits remain: the Conqueror King and Saber stand protectively before their Masters or proxy Masters. These two Heroic Spirits are upstanding individuals, refusing to allow harm to come to their Masters while still breathing.

Su Xiao’s gaze sweeps the crowd, recognizing the Conqueror King and Saber are challenging foes, one’s forte being group battles and the other wielding the Holy Sword with A-level intuition.

From a vantage point half a kilometer away, Emiya Kiritsugu observes the scene through a rifle scope, his expression troubled. With one ’monster’ like the King of Heroes being troublesome enough, another nearly instantly dispatched him in Su Xiao — Heroic Spirits in this Holy Grail War are overwhelmingly strong, leaving him speechless.

In reality, Emiya Kiritsugu worries too much. Su Xiao’s strength lies in close combat. If the distance is widened, he’s no match for the King of Heroes, a fact Su Xiao knows well. He doesn’t harbor blind confidence.

Therefore, Su Xiao exerted full strength upon meeting, intending to utilize his speed and melee advantage to resolve the King of Heroes swiftly. Sadly, he was unsuccessful. The King of Heroes isn’t easy prey.

”So, are you all preparing to join forces against me?”

Su Xiao looks towards Saber and the Conqueror King. With the King of Heroes gone, Hasan Sabbah (Faceless) is the easiest target among the three remaining Heroic Spirits, and so Su Xiao targets him.

”Who might this be?”

The Conqueror King hasn’t determined Su Xiao’s class.

”Berserker.”

Saber clarifies for the Conqueror King.

”Berserker?”

The Conqueror King seems puzzled; to him, a Berserker should not be so rational. Even without Mad Enhancement, they wouldn’t be this composed. The previous figure shrouded in black smoke seemed more fitting for Berserker.

”Who was that black figure previously?”

”That was Berserker’s Master. If my assumption is correct, Berserker’s Master’s appearance is caused by Berserker.”

”What?”

The Conqueror King’s demeanor shifts. He’d never turn Master Webber into that monstrosity, regardless of reason.

”You there...”

The Conqueror King is visibly displeased, and Master Webber, hidden behind the Conqueror King, regards Su Xiao with apprehension.

”That’s making assumptions without knowing the full story. Is that how the Conqueror King- Iskandar speaks?”

Su Xiao’s comment prompts the Conqueror King to clear his throat.

”Is that a justifiable reason? Yet, turning your Master into such a grievous state, ah, forget it; maybe there’s a difficulty. Still, your actions are hard to agree with.”

The Conqueror King reluctantly concedes to Su Xiao’s logic. One shouldn’t comment without knowing all the facts.

”A justifiable reason? Perhaps. I don’t explain my actions to others. You might also think I forcibly turned him into a monster.”

Su Xiao feigns conversation with the Conqueror King while actually tracking Hasan Sabbah’s movements. With stealthy expertise from his assassin days, once hidden, Hasan could become a major nuisance.

Hasan also detects something wrong, wishing to retreat but refrains because he’s been marked.

Bizarrely, ’Berserker’ Matou Gan Ye vanished during Su Xiao’s confrontation with the King of Heroes; his whereabouts unknown.
