Chapter 728: Chapter 38: I Can Still Rob Once More

The reason Su Xiao asked the Old Priest to help contact the Einzbern Family was mainly due to the Old Priest’s special status.

If Su Xiao were to contact the Einzbern Family himself, they would likely not respond, let alone reach out to Emiya Kiritsugu, who was participating in the Holy Grail War through the Einzbern Family.

The Old Priest was the Supervisor of the Fourth Holy Grail War, and his words carried weight. The Einzbern Family could not ignore his requests. Su Xiao did this to try to pull in other combat strengths, in order to deal with those three High-Tier Contractors.

The time agreed with Umbrella Brother was approaching; after leaving a string of phone numbers for the Old Priest, Su Xiao left the church.

...

Night, one kilometer outside of Fuyuki City, in the forest.

An owl perched on a tree branch, tilting its head to observe a human below, the scent of blood on him evoking its wildness.

”Hoo, hoo, hoo...”

After calling a few times, the owl flew off. Compared to this large prey, it preferred mice and insects.

Umbrella Brother leaned against a tree, his clothes tattered and his face somewhat charred. He had a severe penetrating wound in his abdomen. Although there was no major blood loss, the entire wound had been scorched and carbonized, and a dark red energy was surging inside like lava.

Umbrella Brother took out a watch, glanced at the time, and smiled wryly. There were still three hours until his appointment with Su Xiao. Given Su Xiao’s cautious nature, he would likely arrive at the last moment. In his current state, Umbrella Brother could not hold out for three hours.

”Huang Yan...”

Using the tree for support, Umbrella Brother attempted to stand, but after several failed attempts, he gave up. Having escaped from Huang Yan and the others’ pursuit twice, his Healing items were exhausted.

The first time was during Huang Yan and the others’ hunt for a small adventure group, when Umbrella Brother took the opportunity to escape. The second time, he relied on his strong Defense Ability and escape skills to flee. Although he escaped twice, there would not be a third time.

Umbrella Brother’s breathing grew weaker. He held a ring in his hand — his wedding ring. Thinking about his only 3-year-old daughter in the real world made his heart ache.

”XiXi, I wish so much to see you grow up...”

Umbrella Brother coughed a few times, his face looking even worse as the movement aggravated his internal injuries.

Crack, a nearby branch snapped. Umbrella Brother’s eyes sharpened as he struggled to his feet. If an enemy was approaching, he was ready for a desperate fight.

Bubu Wang poked its head out of the bushes. Upon seeing Bubu Wang, Umbrella Brother smiled.

”Just in time...”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than he collapsed to the ground.

”Bubu, share your aura with him.”

Sitting on a nearby tree branch, Su Xiao spoke. He had arrived half an hour earlier but had not shown himself, opting to observe whether Umbrella Brother was captured by the enemy.

After confirming there was no surveillance, Su Xiao jumped down from the tree and approached Umbrella Brother.

At this point, Umbrella Brother’s eyes were beginning to glaze over. Seeing the severity of the injuries, Su Xiao frowned.

An hour later, in the villa at the edge of Fuyuki City.

A weak Umbrella Brother opened his eyes and was nearly scared to death by the scene before him.

Umbrella Brother lay on an iron bed. Under the light, a man wearing a mask and rubber gloves stood over him. On the wooden table beside the man were blood-stained medical instruments.

The man held a syringe, seemingly preparing to give him an injection. Seeing this, Umbrella Brother opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a word.

Umbrella Brother was frightened; the scene was too much like a horror movie: a sealed room, and a maniac performing dissection or unknown modifications.

As his memory cleared, Umbrella Brother recalled the earlier events and breathed a sigh of relief.

”Bai Ye, thank you for saving... fuck!”

Just as Umbrella Brother was about to express his gratitude and sat up, he realized he had been administered a large dose of anesthesia. More importantly, several vital organs had left his abdominal cavity, such as his kidneys and liver, which were suspended in the air.

”You, you, you...”

Umbrella Brother stammered, understandably frightened, for anyone would be scared to death witnessing such a sight.

”Awake?”

Su Xiao held the syringe, bloodstains on the mask covering his face.

Gulping, Umbrella Brother swallowed. ”I...”

When Umbrella Brother spoke, his voice was dry and hoarse; each word felt like a dull knife cutting his throat.

”You mean this?”

Su Xiao pointed to the organs suspended in the air.

”Yes, are you going to... dissect me?”

Umbrella Brother gulped again. He didn’t know Su Xiao well; if Su Xiao was a maniac, it would be terrible.

”No, this is to prevent you from turning into a ’vegetable’.”

”Huh?”

Umbrella Brother didn’t understand what turning into a ’vegetable’ meant. In fact, his organs had been removed to prevent them from transforming into trees.

Umbrella Brother had a robust constitution. Su Xiao had diluted No.1 Potion and injected it several times into him. At that time, with his injuries, only a desperate attempt could save him.

Initially, Umbrella Brother showed signs of tree-like transformation. However, when a shield tattoo appeared on his arm, the transformation symptoms lessened.

Su Xiao speculated this might be Umbrella Brother’s Talent Ability, with strong resistance to paralysis and abnormal states.

”You can sleep a bit more.”

Su Xiao injected the syringe into Umbrella Brother, whose eyelids grew heavier.

”Wait, I feel like I can still be saved.”

”Undergoing rescue...”

Umbrella Brother lost consciousness, and Su Xiao continued the surgery. With experience from performing surgery on Nagato, he was now more familiar with operating on others, especially given the Contractor’s strong constitutions.

It’s unknown how much time passed before Umbrella Brother’s fingers twitched and his eyes slowly opened. As his consciousness returned, a severe pain assaulted him.

”Hmm~”

Umbrella Brother groaned, instinctively covering his abdomen. The touch surprised him; something was off with his abdomen’s sensation.

Ignoring the pain, he tore off the bandages from his abdomen.

”Ah~, ah!”

Seeing the condition of his abdomen, he let out a slightly fearful cry. His abdomen had turned pale blue, with small saplings growing on the surface.

Four-fifths of Umbrella Brother’s intestines had been incinerated. Without extreme measures, he couldn’t recover combat strength in the short term, with a survival chance of less than ten percent.

After the initial panic, Umbrella Brother gradually calmed. As long as he survived, once he returned to Reincarnation Paradise, any injuries could be fully healed.

The door creaked open, and a young girl carrying a tray entered the room. Seeing her, Umbrella Brother froze.

”Sakura Matou?”

Sakura retreated two steps, clearly a bit shy.

”Bai... Bai Ye, that person is awake.”

About ten seconds after Sakura’s call, Su Xiao entered the room.

”Bai Ye, thanks for saving my life.”

Umbrella Brother didn’t mention the earlier surgical ordeal, knowing full well Su Xiao had saved him.

Su Xiao approached the bedside, examined Umbrella Brother, and nodded in satisfaction.

”Still thought you might kick the bucket. Come on, tell me about those three’s specific situations.”
