Chapter 732: Chapter 42: Life and Death in an Instant (4th update, debt repayment additional update)

This move was developed by Su Xiao after fighting against Resentful Orphan · Hughes. It’s in the trial phase and still has many shortcomings.

Previously, Su Xiao noticed that the counter shield was quite good for defending against sharp weapons, but a bit useless when dealing with blunt force or collisions. It not only injured him but also increased the area he was attacked on.

Therefore, Su Xiao developed this move, forming an exoskeleton using an energy shield on the outside of the body for cushioning. This exoskeleton is not firm, but it can significantly reduce the impact force when it breaks.

Su Xiao took a deep breath, reversed Dragon Slash in his hand, and struck backward at Butterfly, who was holding him tightly.

Puch.

Blood splattered, and a wound was cut on Butterfly’s side waist. It wasn’t a shallow wound; Butterfly let out a muffled groan and her body began to tremble.

The corners of Su Xiao’s mouth curled up, just as he guessed, it was not telekinesis energy that defended his slash before, but equipment or a tool.

If Butterfly could resist Su Xiao’s slash using telekinesis energy, then her telekinesis ability would be somewhat exaggerated, plus she was not an enhancer but of specialization nature.

After being slashed by Su Xiao, Butterfly immediately let go of her arms and fiercely kneed Su Xiao at the lower waist.

Su Xiao stumbled forward a few steps from the knee hit, covering his lower waist with his hand, that hit was serious enough as it struck him on the kidney.

Butterfly’s body arched and she sprung up from the ground like a carp, Su Xiao, holding his knife, advanced while clutching his lower waist with one hand.

Clang, boom!

Dirt flew up, and booming sounds spread as the two of them clashed together.

Five minutes later.

Bang.

Su Xiao was kicked back a few steps by Butterfly, warm blood dripping from his chin. Two minutes ago, his left arm was touched by that heart-shaped telekinesis energy and had completely lost feeling.

The Blue Steel Shadow energy in Su Xiao’s body was devouring this peculiar telekinesis ability, it wouldn’t take long to recover, but before that, this arm must not be hit again by the enemy, otherwise it would shatter like porcelain.

Butterfly, several meters away, wasn’t faring well either. She had taken a few slashes from Su Xiao, her body lightly twitching, face pale and bloodless.

”Damn energy, it’s simply shameless!”

Butterfly spat out a mouthful of bloodstained saliva, the previous air of enchantment completely gone, now Butterfly was just a female warrior, one with eight-pack abs on her stomach. Yet this physique, combined with Butterfly’s appearance, presented a unique charm. She’s a female warrior with close combat ability not weaker than Su Xiao.

With Dragon Slash in hand, Su Xiao swung a blossom of blade aura, no longer seeing Butterfly as a charm specialized Contractor.

After an initial skirmish, Su Xiao found Butterfly might be a Contractor inclined towards support, with control abilities, tracking abilities, and abilities to weaken the enemy’s defense.

Even if the enemy is a support, this is a third-tier top-level support; not to mention the disparity in attributes and skills, just the overwhelming equipment is enough for Su Xiao to drink a whole pot.

Butterfly’s attributes and skills are suppressed, but her worn equipment is not, which is also why she can engage Su Xiao in close combat.

Besides, having been in Reincarnation Paradise for a long time, Butterfly has rich combat experience.

Even so, Su Xiao still felt he could defeat the enemy in front of him, because this female warrior actually had a bit of fear of pain, that’s right, fear of pain.

To compare with Su Xiao, he often engaged in close combat with enemies, getting injured was routine, losing a hand or leg happened frequently. From such harsh trials, his pain tolerance increased significantly.

Butterfly is different, being Blood Gate Adventure Group’s top controller, she was protected by numerous teammates during battles, most of her combat experience came from the arena, whereas Su Xiao fought through blood and gore.

”Pain can stimulate a person’s ferocity and alert the brain where the body is having problems, it seems you are not used to it.”

Su Xiao slowly approached Butterfly; Butterfly instinctively took a step back. Noticing her retreat, Butterfly clenched her jaw with unwillingness.

”Only perverts enjoy the feeling of pain, you psycho.”

”Thanks for the compliment, but I don’t enjoy the feeling of pain.”

With an air of aggression, Su Xiao charged at Butterfly, who muttered ’a mere second-tier weakling’ having taken several slashes, and then met him head-on.

The blade aura intertwined, and due to the several cuts she had received, Butterfly began to lean more towards defense.

Clang.

The long knife slashed at Butterfly’s forearm, but the sensation from the blade wasn’t like cutting through flesh, more like slicing into some kind of invisible or transparent armor.

Su Xiao squinted, dodging the beautiful leg kick aimed by Butterfly, preparing to strike.

If following the previous pattern, Butterfly would definitely choose to use her body to take the hit from Dragon Slash, then repay Su Xiao with a kick, all of Su Xiao’s injuries were from these exchanges.

Su Xiao calculated silently; judging from the combat situation, Butterfly should have a piece of equipment capable of automatically generating invisible armor. That invisible armor has extremely strong defense, able to block Dragon Slash with sharpness +32, showing just how strong its defensive power is.

This invisible armor regenerates every 60 seconds or so, entering an idle period of 3 to 5 seconds, during which Butterfly was struck by those few slashes.

The complication is that Butterfly has a second shield-type piece of equipment, generated shields from the second equipment are visible, in gold color, available every 8 to 10 minutes, lasting 2 seconds each time.

What’s more, Butterfly also has an equipment type that can temporarily increase Power and Agility attributes. Earlier, he suffered a back toss from her, precisely because of the enhancement effect of that equipment. During those ten or so seconds, Butterfly’s Power attribute was at least 5 to 10 points higher than Su Xiao’s.

After some analyzing, Su Xiao categorized Butterfly as someone with a large number of high-grade equipment, but with attributes and skills suppressed, akin to him.

Luckily, Su Xiao can be immune to Butterfly’s charm control, otherwise, he would have long been defeated.

Thinking of this, Su Xiao couldn’t help but feel relieved. It’s a good thing the three of them didn’t gather together. Even an auxiliary like this is so tricky; how powerful would Huang Yan, the main combat force, be? At least not someone Su Xiao could deal with now, even if the opponent’s strength is suppressed.

Su Xiao approached Butterfly without a sound, his long knife slashing repeatedly, leaving traces in the air that vanished instantly.

After another two minutes of skirmishing, a light shone from the necklace on Butterfly’s neck, and her speed suddenly surged. It was that piece of equipment that increased power and agility.

Here it comes!

Su Xiao remained vigilant, but this was also an opportunity. The equipment that released the golden shield for Butterfly had entered a cooldown stage, and that invisible shield could only last 10 more seconds.

With a swoosh, Butterfly disappeared from Su Xiao’s sight, moving so fast that dynamic vision couldn’t capture her.

As Butterfly vanished, Su Xiao’s spine was struck heavily.

”Flower Dance·Romantic.”

Pink energy spread with Butterfly’s knee strike, and Su Xiao spewed a mouthful of fresh blood.

[Warning: You are affected by the control effect of ’Akema Secret Blade’, attribute check of power and stamina ongoing.]

[Stamina attribute check ongoing... Stamina attribute check passed.]

[Power attribute check ongoing... Power attribute check failed!]

[You have entered an abnormal state: Dizziness, duration 2 seconds.]

Su Xiao thought to himself this is bad, and before consciousness blurred, he used all his remaining Mana to construct a counter shield, forming two layers around him.

Two seconds passed in the blink of an eye, and as Su Xiao’s vision cleared, he felt intense pain from his spine, a heavy blow to the back of his head, a buzzing in his ears, and most deadly, his neck was being strangled, showing signs of brain hypoxia.

Su Xiao’s hand reached for the arm around his neck. By this time, Butterfly had already locked him in a guillotine, making it almost impossible to break free. With the blood flow completely blocked, in a few seconds, Su Xiao would fall unconscious from lack of oxygen to the brain.

Butterfly’s face showed a smile, as if she could already see the great benefits promised by Stan, and her elevated status in the Blood Gate Adventure Group.

Entering the Holy Grail World was of great importance, and as long as it was done well, even actions against Huang Yan’s will wouldn’t be a problem, and Stan wouldn’t say anything in the end.

Thinking of this, Butterfly tightened her grip on Su Xiao’s neck, her delicate cheek pressed against Su Xiao’s ear, and Su Xiao could clearly feel the woman’s breath.

Su Xiao’s arm exerted force; although he couldn’t escape from the guillotine already formed, he managed to create a small gap in the opponent’s arm. As for why he didn’t use his knife to cleave, it was because that invisible shield was still there; using his knife now would be meaningless and might even cost him his life.

Su Xiao took a deep breath, creating slight gaps in the severely compressed arteries and veins, allowing a small amount of blood to reach his brain.

”3.2.1!”

Su Xiao counted silently in his mind, and when he reached 1, he released Butterfly’s arm and tossed the Dragon Slash from his right hand to his left.

The Dragon Slash reversed in Su Xiao’s left hand, sliding downwards, and he grasped it by the middle, his left hand protected by a metal armguard, so the blade did not cut his hand.

The sharp tip of the blade stabbed backward, scraping past Su Xiao’s cheek and heading straight for Butterfly’s eye socket.

”This is impossible!”

Butterfly’s expression turned to shock, and she hurriedly let go and leaped backward, not caring about strangling Su Xiao. She couldn’t understand how he had managed to find the gap in her ’Kinetic Armor’s’ disappearance within those 4 seconds. A coincidence? Of course not. It was information gathered after Su Xiao took over a dozen kicks, one back slam, and five knee strikes.

Thud.

Dragon Slash pierced into Butterfly’s eye socket, Blue Steel Shadow energy rushing into her brain.

”Ah!!”

Butterfly let out a piercing scream, but Su Xiao paid no heed, grabbing Butterfly’s collar with his reverse hand, his long knife continuing to thrust forward.

Swish, the long knife pierced through Butterfly’s brainstem, stabbing out from her crown.

Su Xiao’s movements didn’t stop. He pulled out the Dragon Slash and slashed at Butterfly’s throat.

Blood sprayed several meters away, slashing open most of Butterfly’s throat. She staggered backward, both hands clutching her throat, blood seeping through her fingers.

The Kinetic Armor covered Butterfly’s body again, but it was too late. She took out a bottle of dark purple potion and tried to pour it into her mouth, but it spewed out from the wound in her throat.

”This... is impossible, I actually...”

Butterfly stepped back a few steps, her voice carrying a sobbing tone, and a few seconds later, her body weakened and fell to the ground with a thud.

[Tip: The Hunter has killed a high-tier Contractor, Scarlet Card drop rate increased.]

A Scarlet Card dropped to the ground, this scene falling into the eyes of the Little Fatty fighting Umbrella Brother, who was now beaten black and blue, his situation precarious.

”Whoa!”

Seeing Butterfly turned into a corpse, the Little Fatty froze in place.

Bang.

Umbrella Brother’s sandbag-sized metal gauntlet punched the Little Fatty in the face, sending a spray of blood from his nose.
