Chapter 740: Chapter 50: You Heretic (4th update, extra for repaying debt)

The Scarlet Card gradually dissolved into a pool of blood-red liquid, which floated in mid-air, slowly spinning.

The speed of the blood-red liquid’s rotation increased, and after a dozen seconds, a blood-colored vortex appeared.

After using Butterfly’s Scarlet Card, there were three extraction opportunities. It was possible to extract items from Butterfly’s storage space, or draw her equipment or skills.

Su Xiao had drawn items and equipment before, but as for skills...

He seriously doubted that the skills of the dead could be drawn from the Scarlet Card, at least he had never managed to draw any.

Bubu Wang poked its head into the blood-colored vortex, clearly somewhat anxious—this was, after all, a third-tier Contractor’s Scarlet Card.

”It’s time to show your skills, Bubu.”

”Woof!”

Bubu Wang stood tall, and at that moment, it wasn’t just one dog in battle, but two! If Su Xiao knew what Bubu Wang was thinking at that moment, he might have brought out that extra-large slipper.

Under Su Xiao’s expectant gaze, Bubu Wang swallowed its anxiety and plunged its head into the vortex, starting to use its nose to perceive items within.

Su Xiao waited patiently, but several minutes passed and Bubu Wang still hadn’t retrieved any items. Instead, half of its body had entered the vortex, leaving only its two hind legs kicking outside, with its fluffy tail wagging side to side.

Suddenly, Bubu Wang’s tail stopped wagging, and it jerked back, pulling its body out of the vortex.

Su Xiao looked closely at what Bubu Wang had in its mouth: after selecting for several minutes, he saw a small statue held there, with the base of the statue visible from Su Xiao’s angle.

”Is it an item?”

Su Xiao took the ’small statue’ from Bubu Wang’s mouth, noticing its texture was somewhat soft. When the statue’s full appearance came into view, his hand froze.

The situation was extremely awkward, as Su Xiao examined the big-headed figurine in his hand. He had a feeling this thing was somewhat familiar.

”Is this... a character from a mobile game?”

Su Xiao suddenly remembered: isn’t this the character from the mobile game Bubu Wang was playing earlier? To play this game, Bubu Wang had even bought a device that could connect to the real-world internet, albeit with many restrictions and unable to transmit information externally.

Although Su Xiao had psychologically prepared himself before opening the Scarlet Card, the surprise of drawing such a novel item left him momentarily befuddled.

Su Xiao could only accept this fact—having extracted an adult product vibration wand before, how could a game figure be more surprising? Besides, judging from Bubu Wang’s expression, it seemed to like this item very much, which also gave it some value.

”Continue.”

Su Xiao placed the figure aside, and Bubu Wang continued to extract items from the blood-colored vortex, with two chances remaining.

Having learned from the first attempt, Bubu Wang’s speed in extracting noticeably increased.

[You have obtained Dior Christmas Limited Edition Lipstick Set (Five Sticks).]

This time, it was lipstick. Su Xiao shook his head; this wasn’t equipment, just an ordinary item.

[You have obtained Alice’s Invitation.]

The blood-colored vortex disappeared, leaving Su Xiao holding a pitch-black envelope, sealed with wax.

[Alice’s Invitation]

Introduction: An invitation inviting you to enter...

...

Su Xiao examined the invitation in his hand, unsure of its purpose, but instinct told him that it might be valuable.

Su Xiao tried to open the invitation, but the envelope was as if it were sealed shut, completely impossible to open.

Noticing this, Su Xiao hesitated for a moment and began to attempt tearing the envelope open by brute force.

He grasped the envelope with both hands, veins gradually bulging on his forehead and arms, showing the magnitude of his exertion.

Crack, crack, crack~

The invitation was creased from tearing, the sound ominous yet causing no damage. After half a minute, Su Xiao’s face was flushed, and he resigned in defeat.

”Ha, ha, ha~”

Su Xiao took deep breaths as the flush in his face faded. This thing was extraordinarily sturdy—someone who could tear a Gundam apart with bare hands was helpless against it, strengthening his belief that it was no simple item.

”Looks like brute force won’t work.”

Just as Su Xiao was figuring out how to open the envelope, the phone in his pocket rang. He took it out, and to his chagrin, the caller ID was unknown. Not only was the function of the item unknown, but now even the incoming call was from an unknown number.

Su Xiao answered the call without speaking first, nor did the person on the other end say anything.

”...”

”...”

Both sides remained silent; this silence persisted for a full three minutes.

”Emiya Kiritsugu?”

Su Xiao broke the silence first; only the Old Priest knew about this call. He had previously commissioned the Old Priest to contact the Einzbern Family, hoping to reach Emiya Kiritsugu through them, as he was their son-in-law.

Neither the Old Priest nor the Einzbern Family were likely to contact him via such an unknown number. The former had no reason, and the latter would disdain or disdain such actions, being a great magic family that preferred to keep their communications discreet to avoid gossip.

Thus, the only one likely to contact him via such an unknown number was Emiya Kiritsugu, a man indifferent to reputation, who believed that as long as the results were good, no means were too foul or despicable.

”It’s me. Contacting me through the Einzbern Family, is it to team up?”

At that moment, Emiya Kiritsugu was in a manor outside the suburbs of Fuyuki City. Except for necessary situations, he wouldn’t linger in Fuyuki City.

”Yes, team up.”

A smile appeared on Su Xiao’s face. If it were a day earlier, he indeed would have teamed up with Emiya Kiritsugu, given the pressure from a third-tier Contractor.

If Emiya Kiritsugu had contacted Su Xiao then, he might even have negotiated using the ownership of the Holy Grail. Unfortunately, his consideration took too long; the third-tier Contractor had already been beaten back by him, missing the opportunity.

”If we’re teaming up, what can I get? How could I trust a Heroic Spirit who turns his Master into a monster?”

”What could you get? How about the Holy Grail?”

”...”

Emiya Kiritsugu was in the dining room of the manor, having a meal with his wife and female assistant, with Saber seated to the side.

After some time together, the compatibility between Saber and Emiya Kiritsugu grew increasingly poor, to the point that they rarely communicated.

At this moment, Emiya Kiritsugu had set the phone to hands-free; there were no outsiders in the room—only those involved in the Holy Grail War.

Upon hearing Su Xiao mention the Holy Grail, Emiya Kiritsugu’s wife, Alice Phil, was somewhat incredulous, while the female assistant sneered.

”Are you willing to give up the Holy Grail?”

Emiya Kiritsugu squinted as the voice on the other end spoke pleasantly, yet he sensed a lurking threat.

”Why wouldn’t I? In most cases, it’s the Masters pursuing the Holy Grail. I’m a Heroic Spirit with no interest in the Holy Grail. Should I wish for resurrection with the Holy Grail? Coming to the present world is about the joy of killing, just like when I was ’alive.’”

Su Xiao started to spout nonsense, enticing Emiya Kiritsugu to appear. He owed the Old Priest a favor, and not recovering something would be quite a loss.

After hearing Su Xiao’s words, the expressions of Emiya Kiritsugu and the female assistant didn’t change, but Alice Phil and Saber wore displeased looks, especially Saber.

”No negotiation needed; collaborating with such an evil man is too risky.”

Saber spoke softly.

”Is that Saber? Don’t think I’m deaf; killing makes one evil? You killed fewer people in your life?”

”Heretic.”

”Heh~ So what if I’m a heretic; to me, Knights are just fools.”

”What did you say!”

Saber stood up, knowing this was the enemy’s provocation, but no one could insult the title of Knight.
